Band to Sleeve Failure and "Desperate"

Also, just because you can't feel the restriction yet doesn't mean it isn't there. Be careful eating so much and so quickly. -
Band to Sleeve Failure and "Desperate"
Seela replied to delamoras3's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm not a band to sleeve conversion, but I remember the early weeks of being sleeved well. My biggest question was, why am I always hungry and why am I not losing weight? This seems common among sleeves, especially early out. For me the real restriction came at about one month, when I started eating solid food on a regular basis and once my sleeve had healed some. In the weeks post op your stomach is partially numb which is why most surgeons tell you to measure or weigh your food, so you don't inadvertently hurt yourself. Also, if your living on only 500-600 calories you have more restriction than you think. As for the weight loss, the first month or so is slow for some, your body is in shock... give it time, you'll get there. -

Please keep us updated... thinking about you -
Yup. It sucks. One of the hardest things ive done in a while. The two weeks following surgery suck too. But it's one month of suckage for a lifetime of joy. Pretty great trade off. You're almost there... you've got this!

CONFIDENCE vs ARROGANCE
Seela replied to Connie Stapleton PhD's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Magazine
Honestly at times I think I'm at the beginning, middle and end of that line. I like to think I'm spending more time in the middle, but I have my moments. It's a never-ending journey, isn't it, trying to find balance? -
Constant burping post op
Seela replied to Sleeveless in seattle's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yup.. lost of us get the burps. It gets better. .. then the hiccups arrive! -
I've been seeing a lot of commercials in my area lately for a procedure called Vanquish. I have extremely good skin so I won't have a bunch of excess but I can still use some help with some of the loose fat. It's still too early for me but in 6 months I'm gonna look into this instead of plastics. It's a laser treatment that kills the fat cells which are then re- absorbed by your body. Tightens everything up and all of those old fat cells are gone. Anyone try this?

Good luck and congratulations! You'll do great

Oh... I'm so sorry you're struggling. .. I totally get it. Anything can cause the fluctuating. .. TOM, sodium, the dog barking... lol. For me I'll go on a losing streak and it's great then it will slow down, then stop, then go up a little then back to losing. It's scary every time but I've been through it enough times now that I know not to freak out. It's all part of the healing process, it's totally normal and while it sucks it's actually a good thing. Hang in there, sounds like you're body's gearing up for some good loss!

Almost 5 months out, still borderline dehydrated
Seela replied to Seela's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Your posts always make me smile! I went rogue months ago and started using a straw... great decision. I an an ex diet Pepsi- acolic so no soda for me ever. I'm really trying harder to push the fluids but now I'm not getting enough calories because I'm always full of water... Geesh! I guess I'll figure all this out eventually. Thanks -
I haven't had the acid problem since early out but the burping and such does get better with time. At 5 months out I still get incredibly loud hiccups when I'm full. Embarrassing but funny and way less embarrassing than not being able to fit in a booth!

To not worry about dying in my sleep because I stopped breathing To not feel like I'm having a heart attack when walking up hill To buying a convertible sports car and not worrying about if I'll even fit behind the wheel To buying ridiculous shoes and not looking ridiculous in them To my daughter now sneaking some of my clothes (I act mad but it gives me so much joy) To not being sweaty all the time To getting whistled at To not having to wait for everyone to clear before going through a hallway or doorway To not worrying about breaking things every time I sit down. To live my life...

I hear what you're saying but I can't quite figure out how it relates to my question?

You're absolutely right. You're doing great. I see smaller clothes in your future

Day 3 since WLS. Cannot tolerate pain meds. Cannot get much down.
Seela replied to MetroDetroitChic's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Pretty much the only thing you can do at this point is sip, sip, sip, walk walk walk and rest. It gets a little better every day. -
If you were only one pound from goal I would think they would be thrilled! The way my surgeon explained it to me it's not always a test to see if you're taking it seriously but for some patients the surgeon is concerned about having enough room inside while doing the surgery and needs you to lose some weight before to ensure a successful surgery. I'm sure they will be thrilled with your progress. You did great!

I tend to stick with the same thing for a while then get bored. .. Breakfast is either an egg with salsa, Greek yogurt, or a protein shake Lunch is usually deli meat with a slice of cheese, a single serving packet of tuna, or some rotisserie chicken. .. etc Snacks are string cheese or protein bar Dinner is meat, chilli, beans and cheese, eggs, soup, tacos. .. whatever as long as it's high in protein. I have variety but I tend to eat the same thing for a week or two before changing it up.

I'm a hair stylist and I never even considered wls. About 5 years ago a new client came in, a man, skinny little fella. I asked him what he did for a living and he told me he was a bariatric surgeon. I was instantly uncomfortable. Then he went on for 20 minutes about how I should get wls, about how the odd are stacked against me for doing it on my own, about how while I may be able to lose weight on my own but I would never be able to keep it off. Well, needless to say all that did was make me mad and humiliated. He came in every month. He didn't always talk about it but he often did. Not the best bedside manner, but a brilliant and successful surgeon. 4 years after our initial meeting I had surgery, with him as my surgeon. He pissed me off but if he hadn't I may never had even had surgery on my radar. I've never been so grateful to be made mad and humiliated in my life.

A few things I would not done 6 months ago...
Seela replied to JanetPRN's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Fabulous NSV's! In addition to the things you mentioned I bought a ridiculous pair of shoes! You know the ones, platform sandal things. They are so much more comfortable than they look!
