EASY WAY OUT!
skinnygirlwithin replied to Chubalicious's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I will be 5 months on May 11th, so far to my face I have only had one person say that to me, it took everything I had not to punch her in the face,.. she is stupid & ignorant because she made a stupid uneducated comment like we all have done in our life... Look I know this isn't the easy way out and really don't care what anyone else says... I didn't do it for them, I did it for me, and that is the only opinion that I care about anymore (well and my husbands LOL) All of us "sleevers" know what we have had to go through to get here, WE ALL KNOW this wasn't the easy way - it was the only way... this is what WE had to do to get healthy. And if our family/friends/coworkers don't understand it, that fine - they don't have to cause its not their life... we all have had to deal with the negativity of being over weight... now we are being judged for trying to get healthy - people are just so ignorant... I am down ALMOST 75 lbs... I couldn't be happier!! I am fitting into clothes that haven't fit in 10 years... easy or not... NO ONE can take that away from me... Cause I wont let anyone have that power over me ever again - I wish you all the happiness in the world with your new tummy!!! your sleeve family will be here judgment free! (because we all took the easy way HAHHAHA!!!) -

Hey @Ava324 - thats a really good plan... i think i would be ok with 150 over all... but i am shooting for 140. (esp if there is some weight gain later down the road) The doc had said he thought that surgery was a factor for the DVT, but i went on a business trip about 6 weeks out & he and another doc said "oh it was due to air plane ride"... well 5 weeks later the blood work came back & I tested positive for some clotting gene, i will see a blood dr in a week or so... i am not worried or upset about it... it is what it is. I cant change it nor could i have prevented it... honestly, had i not had the surgery, i might have not found out that i had the blood clot untill it was too late.... i would have continued to think i over extened my knee... so i look at it the Sleeved saved my life - more then just dropping the weight... I am gonna have to find something that works for me as far as fluids go... i know what i am currently doing is not enough - i drink for sure TWO 16.9 oz of Water a day... then about 4 oz of Protein shake - that is the bare bones... some days i might drink another 16.9 of water with another 4 oz of protein shake, but that is not my average... (not lately anyway) Well its MAY 2 - and i am going to get this train back on track! Keep in touch!!! would to hear about your progress & any tips you might have!

December 2013 Sleevers Come In!
skinnygirlwithin replied to AtlantaRed's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hello fellow Dec Sleevers!! I was sleeved on Dec 11th.. Starting weight was 253, current weight is 181, lost 72lbs so far. I am currently in my 3rd week stall… feeling frustrated but keeping positive!!! Think I am gonna do nothing but protein shakes this weekend… to kinda shake things up…. I wore a pair of super skinny jeans yesterday (I felt so self conscious – still working on my body image in my brain..) but all day long my co-workers called “skinny Minnie” it really was a boost in my step!!! Happy Thursday!!! -

YOU LOOK AWESOME!!! Congrats!!! -
I was sleeved on Dec 11, 2013... I am currently in a stall, I am trying to be "calm" about it...BUT it does get on my nerves... I am not able to work out due to a DVT in my left leg; hopefully I will be released soon to do that and will start seeing the weight loss again… I am 41 years old… I am 5'6.5"... starting weight 253 - current weight is 181 – Down 72lbs - my goal is 150 (really would love 140) last week my scale said I gained 6 lbs... (This would be my phantom period since I had a hysterectomy in 2012) as of today I am back to 181... But I don’t count that gain or loss as I have this every month at the same time... I need to get better about tracking my cal count, Protein & water… I am really awful about it… I was good there for a while back in Feb & March when I started to eat reg foods… but then ended up in the hospital mid/late march with the blood clot & haven’t gotten back to tracking everything… part of it is that I eat pretty much the same stuff and amounts… I know I need to increase my Water I am prob not drinking nearly enough, and this would be why I am feeling hungry more often… I am trying to stay positive and know that these stalls happen – however if by Saturday I haven’t lost any weight then I am going to try to “shake” things up a bit… start doing just Protein Shakes for a few days, then soft protein (fish/seafood/egg whites) for a few days…. and see if that helps… idk, someone gave me that tip and it worked for them… its nice to know that we are pretty much at the same height/weight/surgery time... I am 3 weeks in my stall...

Smell and Taste? Did yours change?
skinnygirlwithin replied to Georgia's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
YES! I was "sleeved" on Dec 11 2013... and almost right away I noticed a change - I have always had keen sense of smell - but now... it’s crazy... and my sense of taste... holy craziness! I use to LOVE bacon, pork chops, HAM… they use to be my very own food group… NOT anymore! Even tap water… I can taste the chemicals, so I do bottled (sigh)… Really anything that has been processed has a funny chemical taste to me… like Pasta, bread etc… I can taste the flour and salt etc… CAKES… omg they are disgusting now, they are just grossly sweet… its really helped with my weight loss… because foods that I would “go to” are no longer appealing to me. I have lost 73lbs in 4 months… I don’t know if I would have, had it not been for my taste buds being completely different… -

Back to work-Nosey co-workers
skinnygirlwithin replied to menjaz's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am a horrible liar... So if asked I just told the truth... if they want to talk behind my back, then that's up to them... I have no control over what people think or say about me. I didn't do if for them, I did it to be healthy - NOW I didn't post it on Facebook or go around telling everyone, however I did make some comments on a GS fan page on FB, and I have gotten a few personal IM on my comment... so I have stopped doing that... I work for a company that is "close knit" about 40 people and well you know how fast wild fire spreads right? so does the gossip mill... so if asked, I just told the truth, I don't have anything to be ashamed of... so far everyone has been really awesome & supportive... now out side of work, I only told a few close friends... I was at a surprise party a few weeks ago, and someone I hadn't seen in a while just was gushing all over me and kept telling me how great I looked etc.. she is kind of a big mouth so for most of the night, I just kept a low profile as to details... after a while I couldn't play the cat & mouse game, and told her the truth... Then this very drunk person said "yeah she cheated" seriously first and only negative comment I have gotten - I didn't even respond to the stupid drunk, I just said to my friend "yes some narrow minded people believe this is taking the easy way out... but there is NOTHING easy about this" I feel like this is a private thing, but you know what everyone knows we are over weight... its not a secret... So my journey to get healthy shouldn't be either... plus I would hate if I got caught in a lie... but that's me -

Blood clots and plane rides?
skinnygirlwithin replied to Healthygal's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
@Ivana_bethin I am on blood thinners till at least the end of Sept.. I wont knw if i will be on them longer untill after i have some test done come July. I did not wear compression socks, i didnt really think i needed to... And i thought i moved around enough, i guess i didnt... -
As I was standing in the shower, letting the hot Water warm me (cause i am still cold all the time) I realized something - I CAN SEE MY FEET - and not just the toes... there was no HUGE belly in my view!!!! i know this sounds stupid... but i started to cry - tears of joy - it was like the moment the bath towel fit all the way and then some around my body... i am only 4 months out & i am so thankful I had the sleeve... Wishing everyone a HAPPY FRIDAY!!!

Blood clots and plane rides?
skinnygirlwithin replied to Healthygal's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
Hi First let me say i have never had an issue with blood clots before my surgery & i have had 2 other major surgerys in my life... - I had my sleeve sugery on 12/11/13 and had to fly for business 6 weeks later (1/19/14) ON 3/15/14 I was admitted into the hospital for a Blood clot (DVT in my left leg behind my knee - it had been bothering me for several weeks i just didnt know it was a clot... ) for the last 5 weeks all 3 docs (Gastric Doc, Family Doc & Admiting ER Doc) all said it was because of my trip. My flight was about 2 1/2 hours. My 2 cents to you, if you are flying that soon after surgery is take the advice of all of the above comments, MAKE sure you are wearing the socks, you are moving your feet/legs when sitting & make sure you get up and walk around. Good luck & best wishes to you!! -

December 2013 sleevers progress
skinnygirlwithin replied to BiddyBody's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sleeved on 12/11/13 - i am down 72lbs as of this past Sunday - i am just starting to lose my hair. I have been taking 1000mcg of Biotin since before surgery... maybe its not enough? i try to only weigh myself on the weekend, but im not going to lie... sometimes i get super crazy OCD and weigh myself every day... i have no idea why i torcher myself... I still don't eat a whole lot and i try to listen to my body, when i start to feel satisfied i stop so that i don't get sick or feel horrible. At 3 months out, i was walking about 5 miles a day and ended up with a blood clot (DVT) and had to stay a few days in the hospital - the docs weren't sure if it was a cause of the surgery etc... but i just found out last night (5 weeks later) that it is not from the surgery, some things came back in my blood - so some more blood testing is needed - but other then this hiccup, all in all this has been good and i have been cleared to start walking again however not allowed to "work out" till we know more about the clotting... congrats to everyone & their weight loss!!! -
Men, does a woman's loose skin affect you at intimate times?
skinnygirlwithin replied to Dr-Patient's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
great question! i am down over 70lbs in 4 months and i worry about my skin, but my husband assures me that its not as bad as i think it is. He is loving the new me & how my body is transforming... i have another 30lbs to go, and i worry about my skin... -
I wasn't allowed to have salad till 3 months... but didn't actually try it till this past EASTER... omg it was like a little bit of heaven... but i only ate a few bites... i had it again last night with shrimp (i ate the shrimp first then the lettuce). really enjoyed it... i ate it slow & made sure i really chewed it good.
