  4. don't worry you will restart your weight loss soon, i am also 6 weeks out and went through 2 weeks with zero loss but my measurements was changing specially the waist.
  5. am still in the soft food phase (3rd week post op) and this happened to me now around 4-5 times, this how it happens: i am eating normally 1st bite, the 2nd normal and then on the 3rd something goes wrong. pain start in the mid chest and keeps increasing till it is unbearable that I keep walking around in circles. i start sweating like crazy as pain keeps increasing. i feel the urge to burp but i am not able to. this remains for around 20 to 30 minutes while which you feel you are going to die until a small burp out, and then another and another. and i keep burping like this for about 15 min as the pain goes 20 minutes later i am fine again. my question is: what is this? what is it due to ? speed bite size ? i feel i always eat with the same speed but ! how can i avoid it ? and most important is when it does happen what can you do to fix it quickly instead of jumping like crazy allover the place (specially if you are out with people !!)
  6. Thanks for your reply's, I'll check with my doctor then, also found the below online... Preventing Gallstones during Weight Loss Maintaining a normal weight and avoiding rapid weight loss are the keys to reducing the risk of gallstones. Taking the medication ursodiol (also called ursodeoxycholic acid, or Actigall) during weight loss may reduce the risk for people who are very overweight and need to lose weight quickly. This medication is ordinarily used to dissolve existing gallstones. Orlistat (Xenical), a drug for treating obesity, may protect against gallstone formation during weight loss. The drug appears to reduce bile acids and other components involved in gallstone production. 9. Hello, i have successfully completed my operation 1 week ago, all seems to be fine and i have already lost 15 pounds. however when i checked the scale it was mostly muscles. my first week dite was mainly liquids and didn't include protein shakes or vitamins. now the Dr. has approved adding those would that be enough to fix this? or do i need to more ?

  11. i am 2 days out too, and yes i do get that gas pain with every sip. my doctor told me this is very normal as the stomach is heavenly swollen now so very very limited in its size. don't worry i am sure this will be much better once the stomach is fully recovered 3-4 weeks. don't regret and stay positive
  12. Hello Everyone, i have joined VST for about 2 weeks and i must say it was a great help in my pre-op with all these encouraging stories. i am Ahmed a 34 year old Egyptian living in Dubai, i have been suffering obesity for a long time cant even remember since when !. all i can remember is i have been trying to lose weight for years and years with no success, the even worse is that along those years with all the short term success of losing some KG's overall i was actually gaining more and more, last year when i hit 126KG it was a shock and i decided that i need to do something different this time, i have been discovering the surgery option for months and was always set that if i would ever do a weight loss surgery it would be a lab band, i visit multiple doctors and discussed the surgery but never got the courage or maybe you can say i was never convinced. One month ago i made the decision that i will do it and fix this once an for all, i went to see Dr. Faruq Badiuddin who is a Gastrointestinal and Advanced Laparoscopic surgeon @ Mediclinic Dubai Mall. and he recommended the VSG the way he described it just made it the right option as a life time solution as appose to the band that is only short term. i was sold with the idea and 2 weeks ago i started my Pro-op diet wish lucky was not a liquid one ! it was only a low carb low fat diet. also as part of the pre-op cehckup he discovered that i am suffering a Hiatal Hernia that he will be fixing also during the operation, so its a 2 in one i am now 11 hours away from the operation, they told me that i will be suffering some degree of pain after the operation as they cant give me the strong painkillers due to the risk of throwing up. anyway time to get some sleep, wish me luck and i shall keep you all posted !. Ahmed.
  13. Thanks all for your kind wishes, its been now about 20 hours since leaving the surgery room, the pain in the stomach area has been very bearable, however I woke up from the surgery with a crazy pain in my right shoulder that goes all the way into my right hand fingers. That was very painful. They told that this is a side effect of using gas to inflate the abdomen to be able to see well and move the lever from ontop of the stomach. Today the pain is much better but I still have the pins and needles in my right hand finger tips. Am not too worried as the pain has been improving. I also started walking around the room yesterday and sipping on Water. the plan was to be released to home today lets see what the doctor will say. good to all of you who have the operation this week. Its a great feeling to realize its all over and now its only daily improvements I hope..
