I was banded in July 07 and have only lost 35lbs. I have had 2 fills. Currently, I can eat a big salad, bowl of soup and keep going with my yogurt or whatever! When I'm bad, cookies go down fine. I am not doing that often though. Anyways, I know I need to exercise. I do ok for a while and then do poorly again for a few weeks. I called to ask for a fill and the nurse said, "Well, 2 questions first: Are you eating the right foods? Well, not all the time. Are you exercising? Well, not all the time. The answer then was: Well, you need to do these things and if you are not losing 1-2 lbs a week then you should have a fill." Ugghhh. This feels like I have to rely on will power again! Am I suppose to be able to eat this much?? And I am hungry between breakfast and lunch, lunch and dinner. I am eating peanuts to help kill the hunger. Do I just call and schedule another fill? I'm self pay too. So I don't want to "waste" $250 for a "little" fill either. Can anyone help me with this?? Thanks, Tammy

I would be interested in what you are planning for the food journey. I was banded in July 2007 and am only down 35 lbs. I am a food addict. I do well for awhile but once I start with sugar its hard to stop. I am going to look up the books and sites you guys talked about. I'll watch this posting and participate if you get something started. I'm glad I found this thread. Tammy  -
Nicole, I grew up in South Omaha but moved to Lincoln in High School. Now I'm 37 and about 6yrs ago we moved the family outside of Lincoln to an acreage.

Oh and Jackie, I forgot to reply, "Holy Crap!" BCBS making people waiting for treatment for 3 years.... do they make people wait 3 years to get on insulin when they are diabetics and can no longer control the bloodsugars by diet or oral meds?? I could go on and on but I won't since I'm new...Thanks for the info. Tammy

Ok, I am just joining in your gang. I wrote on here a few nights ago. You guys are all so supportive and I think it's what I need if you have more to give?? I just got my second fill today. (banded 7/20/07, down 31lbs) I had written how I just got on the sugar train and haven't got off. I'm off now. I just cannot go there. Can anyone explain to me why the band tightens days after a fill? I hope I get more restriction with this. Marcy, I read your posting and feel for you. I agree with the lamp suggestion. And aren't you down some sixty something pounds?? You smile. Fake it till you make it. Jackie, great pics with the monkeys. Many of you have done great with the weight loss. I want to start the Couch to 5k. Any suggestions if any of you are doing it would be great. Thanks for "letting me in" on this journey! Tammy

Hey can I join in with you guys? I just found this thread. I was banded July 20th 2007, had one fill and am only down 30. Going for my 2nd Wednesday. Down about not losing much, eating poorly now. PB only when I eat too fast or dont chew a lot. I hope 2nd fill will help. I know I need to get on the exercise thing. I did well for about a month. Any suggestions would be great. What are the challenges about? are you just tally-ing in your monthly weight loss? Tammy

Couch to 5K - Week of 21 ? 27 October
tjfandri replied to losingjusme's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I am so glad to see this post. I was told about this site, went to it, printed it out, hung it on my closet wall and with a calendar and have not done anything since (that was a week ago). Can I really do this weighing 241 lbs? I am down 27 and feel good but am I setting myself up to fail? Should I start at week one then tomorrow? The other thing is, I figured out you need to be able to do a 10minute mile. I walk on my treadmill for 30 minutes and only do about 1.4 miles. I go an average of about 3.4 mi per hour with a 3 grade. I have to first be able to do a 10minute mile dont I?? Help anyone. I was so motivated to try this and now I'm discouraged. And about the instructor.... that was wrong. Feel good about yourself for not hollering out in class the risks with having tattoos. Youre better than her... Tammy -
Hey Ive been on this site for over 4 months now and never saw this thread. I have been hoping to find someone in Lincoln with the band. I live outside of Lincoln but work at one of the hospitals in Lincoln. I had my band placed on July 20th 2007 in Mexico since I was self pay. My insurance didnt cover. I am only down 27lbs. It's slow. Anyways, I go to Dr. Hung for fills (have only had one though). Glad to see people in Nebraska! Tammy

Thanks for the info Crystal. So maybe I want to wait a little. Why would it take a while? I'm glad you are ok. I am nervous about ever hearing that word "slip". Tammy

Now when you guys talk about "kicking in", is that what can happen sometimes. I thought it was strange, but I was fine fight after my first fill, to a point I called and scheduled a second fill (in 2 weeks). That same day I called, day 6 after my first fill, I felt like the band got tighter that night and hasnt let up. ?? Why would that happen? I read what happened to you 3 weeks out and I'm thinking maybe I'm not crazy. Did the slip come first and then things swelled up or did things swell and then the slip? Tammy

Lapband for life, the complete patietn guide to success with the lapband. Ariel Ortiz Lagardere MD FACS. I read it in one night, @240 pages. Got it off Amazon. I liked it alot. I read it just before my surgery. I'm sure I'll use it as a reference. Tammy -

after you eat, the food will stay in your new little stomach longer if you don't drink fluids to push it through quicker. Then you should stay full longer. At least this is how I understand it. I read a lapband book. Tammy -

I am so excited, to the point of wishing July was about over. This site has helped me alot already. Any other bandsters from Nebraska or other nearby states?
