What an ass that person is! You're doing great, ignore that idiot! -
Learning is HARD
Sleeved in Seattle replied to Sleeved in Seattle's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
No worries, Gamergirl, the dog is always hijacking attention, I'm used to it. :-) I revised from band to sleeve and I vaguely remember the runny nose at the beginning of banded life, but I managed to ignore it after a few years (oddly enough that coincided with regaining 80 lbs.). It came back/got noticeable right after surgery. I've been on Clear Liquids plus Protein shakes for almost two months (pre and post surgery - strict surgeon). Anyone else had "the signal" right from the get go? P.S. been loving your recipes, even if I never make one! -
Learning is HARD

Thanks Catherine! Impatience is one of my middle names. -
No, sadly! But I never felt hungry.

I hate to tell you, but for the first two weeks I'd wake up at night in a flop sweat. It has gotten much better, so don't despair! Lisa

ONE MONTH SURGIVERSARY!
Sleeved in Seattle replied to RoxFC's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congratulations! Today is 4 weeks for me too. Everyday seems a little bit better doesn't it? Thank god for small favors! :-) -
This was happening to me too. It's getting better. One thing my internist told me was that the body's way of fighting inflammation is with heat. Seriously I thought I was going through menopause. I'm at 4 weeks today and it's better but not 100 percent gone . I spend a lot of time under the ceiling fan. How far out are you?
-
Approaching 4 weeks out, trying to walk 1-2 miles every day. Prior to surgery I walked 3 miles daily and did free weight training 3 days a week. I walked 2.5 miles this morning and the last mile seemed slow, but my splits aren't that much different than pre-surgery. It's been a slow recovery and I'm still on Clear liquids + Protein shakes. So looking forward to pureed food starting Friday! And returning to weight training: I feel like all those muscles I spent years building up are atrophying. :-)

Thank you for the follow-up (and sorry for the pity party hijack :-)).

Oh lord. Sort of wish I hadn't read this! I'm on a short but large course of prednisolone (thanks to a bad reaction to yet another drug) and less than 3 weeks PS. I thought my stomach was looking puffier today. <heavy sigh> And really, I don't really need help being cranky and anxious. lol!

Awesome job! We're all rooting for you to succeed, you know that, right? :-)

I make two versions: - With FF sour cream and horseradish - With FF sour cream and shredded ff cheese and heated in the microwave so the cheese melts a bit. Oh god, am I ever going to finish with the liquids portion of my new life? :-)

I'm so sorry you lost your Mom. She's been in my thoughts since I first read this thread. She loved you so much. -
Anyone Here In Washington?
Sleeved in Seattle replied to Twyla's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Bummer! I'd like to meet all the famous people too! But we'll be in Paris. OK, so maybe not so much of a bummer. The bummer will be I'll have just started week 6 or 7 and soft foods while we're there. Give me strength against bread, nutella, sausages, bread. And bread. But at least there's a possibility I'll be able to shop for clothing this time. :-) And that no mean old lady will call me fat again. -
July 2013 Sleevers
Sleeved in Seattle replied to DagsboroDebbie's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Having a hard time keeping my eyes on the prize ... I've been on clear liquids plus protein shakes since mid-June or so (got violently sick after the endoscopy for about two weeks so surgery was postponed, drug reactions, blah blah blah) and I am so sick of sweet shakes. I've got another two weeks to go, then will move on to softs. How did folks get themselves to focus on the prize and not the immediate nausea? -
Is 2 weeks reasonable?
Sleeved in Seattle replied to Teachamy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm just over two weeks (July 25) and I'm definitely seeing a day-by-day improvement. My doc told me to take 2 weeks before going back to work, but then I was laid off a week before surgery. I think I would have been able to go back as of tomorrow, and that's with a few minor setbacks (drug reactions, hives, dehydration, UTI). I'm sure it's doable, but really glad I have the extra time to take! -

Anyone have allergic reaction to steri strips?
Sleeved in Seattle replied to Living Lean 13's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
《Raises hand》Me! I'm allergic to most adhesives, told the hospital & surgeon's office that before surgery, but was still covered in steri-strips and tagaderm Patches when I woke up. I'm two weeks post-op and at about 1-1/2 weeks the hives started; I'm now covered in them from my groin to my neck, front & back. Every day they climb a bit higher (and lower). I've been religiously popping benedryl every 4 hours but hasn't made a huge difference. I see my PCP on Monday to see if she has any recommendations, as the surgeon didn't seem to concerned in my first post-op visit yesterday. :-( I took the steri-strips off myself last night at the surgeon's ok. Good luck! Lisa -
My nose runs (it was the same when I was banded at first). Interesting that it's caused by pressure on the vagus nerve - I'd always wondered!

Any Seattle support groups?

Peggy - good luck with liquids today! How did you like the class? Thinking of you and wishing you luck! -
very helpful book.
Sleeved in Seattle replied to Nursebarbie's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hi - it's been a month, do you still find the books useful? I've had them pop up in my Amazon "recommended for you" list but wasn't sure if they were tailored enough for the sleeve or more generic? I "know" a lot of information about WL but even after years of first 20-20 and then the band I don't think I've truly internalized it all. Given I got back up to 217 lbs, propably not, right? -

Any Seattle support groups?
Sleeved in Seattle replied to Kohe's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Another Seattlite here, sleeved on July 25. Longtime lurker, first-time poster. :-) My surgeon was Srikanth at Evergreen, so I'm committed to his Federal Way group, but would like to find others to talk to once in a while.
