Hi Christine, Congrats on getting approved. I am still waiting. My daughter lives in Wylie and goes to church in Sachse so I come through there almost every week. Good luck on your surgery. Where are you having it?

I was talking to a friend about the lapband surgery and he said some people regain the weight they lost. I am sure there are exceptions but does anyone know people that have long term results from the lapband. I do not want to have it done if in a year I will regain my weight. I am hoping this is the exception and not the rule.

Well since I am 59 it will probably work just fine until I am ready for the home.

I am waiting too. My Doctor is Dr. Veninga. He said I could wait until I hear from the insurance company before I do the psych. thing and nutritionist. I didn't want to put out that money if they weren't going to pay.

Karri, Dr. Veninga in Carrollton does it at Trinity Hospital. Then the Dr. and Hospital would be covered.

I have not received insurance approval yet but I am thinking ahead. I understand you have to drink protein drinks for 2 weeks prior to surgery. What is the best protein drink and what is the best way to fix it so it taste good?

That sounds fun to me too. Let me know. I have not received my band yet because I am waiting on insurance approval.

Good luck on your band. Do you live around Carrollton? Our weight loss goals are about the same. I need to lose 84 lbs.

I just received word from my doctor's office that they received the rejection from my primary and now they will file with my secondary. They seem hopeful that United Healthcare will approve it. Keep praying.
-
Well I received word from my primary insurance that they will not pay for the lapband. Now we just have to send it to the secondary insurance to see if they will pay. Keep me in your prayers.

My doctor's office is pretty good. They sent the predetermination 6 days after my office visit. I think the hold up is going to be getting the denial then sending it to the secondary insurance company. I am going to call the insurance company again next week. It shouldn't take 30 days for them to send a denial letter.

I contacted my insurance company and I had to call them 3 times (in one day) before they found the paperwork. Luckily my doctor sends everything with a signed receipt so they knew the insurance company received it. They said it still takes up to 30 days even though they know they do not cover weight loss surgery. You would think they could just stamp it "no" and send it back so I could file with my secondary insurance. Boy, if we were as slow paying the premiums as they are responding we would sure hear about it.

I am probably about 2 hours from Tyler.

Hi, I live in Carrollton, Texas. I just had my first appointment with Dr. Veninga last week. Now I am waiting to see what the insurance company says. I have been overweight all of my life. The only times in my life I was even close to a normal size was when I was on diet pills. I started taking diet pills in the 7th grade. I am now 59 as of yesterday. I am nervous about having the surgery but I am tired of being overweight. Has anyone used Dr. Veninga? Any suggestions on what I should be doing while I am waiting to hear from the insurance company?
