Skinny in Here replied to hopeliveshere's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ground beef. I use a dehydrator along with this gizmo. http://www.amazon.com/Nesco-BJX-8-Jumbo-Jerky-Works/dp/B000FG0O82/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1381424218&sr=8-1&keywords=Nesco+BJX-8+Jumbo+Jerky+Works+Kit -
Beef Jerky anyone?
Skinny in Here replied to hopeliveshere's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I make my own jerky. Soooo much cheaper, fresher and better tasting, IMO!! -
Just putting it out there, so 'dirty' little secrets may see the light of day!
Skinny in Here replied to Madam Reverie's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I had 3 Oh Yeah Teail mix bars yesterday!! I feel ashamed, not enabled. I want to hear someone further out say "you are not going to fail because of one or two bad days... I had some bad days too. You are not going to fail. Get back on the horse and do your best!" Otherwise I might say "What the hell!", then have 3 more. -

A staple for me http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000AXQI3U/ref=oh_details_o02_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 I ordered samples of Protein drinks here. Everyone's tastes are different, so it's best to try several. http://www.nashuanutrition.com/store/protein-powders/protein-powder-samples-1-serving.html This is the one I preferred. http://www.celebratevitamins.com/shop/other-supplements/ens/ens-multivitamin-calcium-protein-shake-vanilla-cake-batter-30-serving.html As far as Vitamins go. I used the chewables for only a few weeks and ended up with a full jar I never opened. I did not like the taste and moved to a regular bariatric Vitamin as soon as possible. A few more of my favorites: - Chick Fil A Sugar Free Fresh Squeezed Lemonade - Chick Fil A Grilled chicken Nuggets - Seapoint Edamame Snack Packs (Walmart) - Budget Sugar Free Popsicles (Walmart) -
WLS Cover-up Story
Skinny in Here replied to Andrew0929's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I tell most people that I had surgery to fix a hernia ... which is true. If they inquire as to why I'm losing weight I tell them I'm on a high protein low calorie diet .. which is also true. -

How long will the scars be obvious?
Skinny in Here replied to journeybegins05032013's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Silicone sheets are also used to treat pre-existing older scars. I have a small older scar I am treating the same way as my new ones. After only a couple of weeks, the old scar is already lighter in color and appears to be flattening. -
Single Incision VS Regular - SCARS
Skinny in Here replied to cpeycke's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had a TT a couple of years ago. My surgeon suggested using silicone sheets to reduce scaring and to aid in healing. Since this worked so well to flatten my TT scar I decided to try using silicone nipple covers on my sleeve scars. So far they seem to be working very well to reduce redness and flatten the scars. An added bonus is that they keep the scar from getting dry and pulling. Silicone nipple covers are not expensive. I ordered several pair. http://www.amazon.co...0?ie=UTF8&psc=1 -
Isn't it great to have a waist again??!! You look fabulous!

Pain on left side
Skinny in Here replied to lctrick's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's my understanding that the incision that's giving you the most pain is the one they pulled your stomach through, then put it back through after reducing its size. It will feel much better in a few weeks. I used a small pillow for support when lying on my side. -
I would guess that most on this forum would admit to being at least a little scared. Heck, I worry every time I board an airplane that it might go down, but I still get on. Your Dr. Will run a lot of tests to find anything that might cause a problem. Try to relax and think about your new future. You are in good hands, I'm sure.

5 weeks out scale hasnt moved
Skinny in Here replied to dwhitten's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My first stall started at 4 weeks. The scale didn't change for two weeks. This week the stall broke and I am averaging a loss of a pound a day. I started at 197 and today I weigh 175. Surgery date 8/5. From reading here, I knew a stall was inevitable so I kept on keeping on. I changed nothing during the two weeks. Then on Monday the scale began moving again. -
My surgery was done by Dr. Kim on 8/5. I am doing great. No issues. I still don't have much of an appetite.

TT silicone sheet for scar/healing....

I used Retouch silicone sheets. They were comfortable and I was very pleased with the results. -
One month post op and I still have no appetite. Hunger pains remind me to eat. Nothing I am allowed to eat tastes good except Blue Bunny sugar free fudge bars and sugar free popsicles. I am getting in my protein and my calories, but not because I enjoy it. Protein drinks have long lost their appeal. I'm getting most of my protein and calories from cottage cheese and protein bars, occasionally some almond butter and PB2.
