  1. I want to have a Spanx bonfire and burn every piece of shapewear I own. Also it would be nice to sit indian style in a airplane seat. I've seen grown adult women do this and looked on in amazement. lol. Lastly, I'd like to particpate in a race and not have partipants and bystanders alike yell YOU GO GIRL as i pass by. Yes, America larger people run races.

    Sleevers by profession.

I am an attorney (or as my brother would say a liar-awyer) working for good ol' Uncle Sam, the United Stated Federal Government in the northern Mississippi/Memphis area. I'm a mere nine days away from beginning my sleeved life. I'm impressed by the diversity of professions represented on this topic, but there seem to be a whole lot of nurses.

    Piercings and surgery

Jo I was afraid of that and my doctor said the same thing. Parting is such sweet sorrow *sniff*. If I can't get these things back in post op, I will just have to consider that phase over. I don't think i'd get them pierced again :-(
  4. Possibly the best entry title EVER. Ok, of the summer for sure! Twoderville can't wait to welcome its newest resident. Just dont' become tooooo comfortable there, because one-derland awaits. I'm preop and I think my feelings will likely be very similar to yours. I keep thinking that I must willingly suspend my disbelief and know that IT IS WORKING! Chances are, I can see myself becoming seriously bruised from pinching myself. Congrats again!

    Help please

    What is a ticker? Obvi I'm a little slow. . .
  6. That's wonderful news! I was on pins and needles while waiting to hear back. Once I got approval, I felt elated and scared senseless at the same time. Good luck to ya!

What a difference 6 days can make

What an excellent post! I'm ten days away and am petrified of the unknown. I am also single and live three hours away from family. A cousin has kindly agreed to stay with me for a week, but in the back of my mind I wondered if a week was enough. Your chronicle has reassured me that it should be. Thanks for sharing!

For me, one burpee is one too many! However, im only up to one set of five. I am pre-op (surgery will be on the 19th). Hopefully it will get better once there's less of me to hoist up.

    Excited! Excited! Excited.... Getting Closer!

Whoop whoop very excited for you! Its a victory to have jumped through all those hoops that insurance companies insist upon! I'm in Tupelo but am having my procedure done in Memphis on the 19th. Best of luck and keep us posted.

    Approved

Wonderful news! A few more days until you start your pre-op diet. It will be here before you know it!

For me it's burpees. I'm reasonably certain that if you rearrange the letters in the word burpees (maybe in another language) you end up with Satan

    One day post op HELP!

Have you been walking as well? I'm pre-op, but many have posted that walking helped with their gas pain.

    Damn Damn Daaaamn!

Ouch! Quite the monkey wrench especially with you being so close to the finish line. This has not happened to me, but I have my fingers crossed that the test results will be negative. Alternatively, I'm sure there are PLENTY of people here that have had sleep apnea and surgery. I'm guessing this has to do with the anesthesia and your safety, and they're erring on the side of caution. Hopefully this complication wont be complicated and will be resolved quickly and successfully!
  15. You and me both honey!

    Hi from North MS ;)

FINALLY someone from northern MS!! I couldn't figure out where you all were lurking! I suspect we may have the same surgeon (Wagner) because I had my consult and got my surgery date yesterday as well. I'm a week before you -August 19th- and am excited and petrified at the same time (first surgical anything). Praying that all goes well and keep y'all posted.

Anyone else getting sleeved in August?

Another 19th'er like me whoop whoop! It sounds like we are at nearly the same place with the pre op diet as well. I know it will be worth it, but it is tough going right now.

Anyone else getting sleeved in August?

My date is August 19th and I can't wait!! However, I want to increase or maintain my level physical activity but am finding it difficult with this pre op diet. Hopefully I won't be so fatigued in a few days.
  19. Y'all my surgery date is August 19th!! Going bonkers and in need of surgery buddies!

What do you tell the haters?

You are only confirming my decision not to divulge the details of my upcoming surgery with my co-workers. They already scrutinize who eats what at office gatherings, so heaven forbid I eat half a donut or something after the procedure. I know they will be waiting for some sort of failure or re-gain no matter what I do. So. . . Make your haters your motivators! I plan on being the most fabulous and toned me I can be! Every NSV and weight milestone will be my personal eff you to the naysayers. Jennifer
  21. I can agree to some degree, but I think it's merely a matter of skin, hormones, and such catching up with the dramatic transformations that follow bariatric surgery. However I also realize that bariatric surgery cannot turn FUGLY to FOINE. Those blessed with good bone structure remain attractive at nearly any weight, but most of us mere mortals aren't so lucky. We have to work with the hand we're dealt. With that being said, it may take some of us time to figure out how to present our new faces and bodies in the most attractive light. That could be a tall order for those that had being unobtrusive down to a science in their pre-op life. Just my two cents on the matter. Jennifer
  22. Finally got approved. . . Now pardon me while I freak out

    Serious question seeks serious answer!

I think it depends on the individual and is a matter of personal preference. I would never want to go out with the guy who I thought I may accidentally injure during "sexy time" lol. I typically gravitate toward athletic types, And some have been larger and some have been relatively thin guys. However I will say that smaller guys approach me much more frequently than larger ones. In fact, is relatively rare for BBM to even talk to me. I would not go so far as to think that it is the result of some sort of self-loathing. Arguably, it may be the grass is greener scenario----however I still stick with personal preference. Jennifer
