I dont want to stop nursing my baby :(
WeighDownSouth replied to Mrs.FullerRN's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'd say go with your body and your baby. Plenty of women nurse after emergency c sections requiring general anesthesia. If she's just nursing for comfort and will tolerate other forms nutrition then go for it. You can always pump and freeze in case your need. Everyone reacts differently to surgery and b -
October is going to be a crazy month for me- Got my date!
WeighDownSouth replied to RebecaSparkles's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I love that ending. Darn it, I want to be hot too. I'd likely settle for not embarrassing my children at the beach. Seriously though, I almost killed myself in my twenties getting into a size 12. I'd love to see what an 8 or (gasp) a 6 would look like. I'd like for once, to be able to wear a belt with jeans and tick in my shirt. I think that will be my goal weight present. I want a shiny belt buckle:-). Of course, the road to hot begins next month!!!!! -

Low-energy helped by anti-depressants
WeighDownSouth replied to DonRodolfo's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I know this is dated, but I to chime in. Three months ago I was a smoker who took a two hour nap. I took lexapro so I wasn't feeling depressed. I'd been on it for three years and thought I felt fine. Then insurance changed and I couldn't afford even the generic. Like the op, I'd taken wellbutrin before with some success. My doctor switched me. I feel fantastic. No more smoking, ample energy to chase four children, and for the first time in years (and years and years) I have a sex drive. I love this wellbutrin -

You look amazing!!! -
Seven weeks and counting!!!! Looks like I may be starting an internship in the next few weeks. So, now I'm a working gal, full time student and mother of four. Good thing I get to take it easy after surgery. For five days. I hope this is comparable to c section recovery.

Let me know how it goes with dr Garcia. I have him on the 18th. I hope I find someone going too!!!

WeighDownSouth replied to ajotto25's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I'm curious to follow your progress. I'm 5' also and am currently around 220. I haven't started preop yet. Surgery 10/17. I fear doing all of this to lose 35 pounds. -
Not September, but October

Welcome to waiting:-). -
My farewell to fat food fest is in full swing. I'm saying goodbye with pizza comas and tiramisu highs. I wont even pretend that i didnt enjoy splitting a mellow mushroom "holy shitake" pizza with my husband wednesday. I paid dearly for that farewell party. Now how to adequately say so long to our twice monthly church dinners is a whole other story. These little SC ladies add extra butter, sugar and love to everything they didn't already cook in fatback. The idea of sitting through these and not hurting myself is a little sad. For anyone living near a publix grocery, their store brand green wise chocolate whey powder is pretty good and inexpensive.

Lightweights in the house! Any more people with less to lose/less BMI's?
WeighDownSouth replied to MumtazG38's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I really like this thread. I'm Amy, 33 5"0" and currently between 200-220. I have recently been diagnosed with pcos after years of irregular periods. I'm a mom of 2 (2,4) and foster (soon to be adoptive) mom to two more 10,11). I've been overweight since age 9 and just realized that I've been gaining and losing the same 40 pounds for 20 years. My family thinks I should just "buckle down" and do it on my own. After all, I've done it before... Um, u got down to 160 ten years and two kids ago, was completely unhealthy and chain smoked. I can't do that again! They think the surgery is only for people with much more to lose. I need to lose roughly 100 pounds! So, I'm off to Mexico in October and taking this leap. Could this really be the last summer that's swimming wardrobe includes layers and shame? Will I be hiking with my husband and children next summer instead of watching tv and posting here? Omg I hope so! I love reading your posts (especially the other shorties). Keep up your hard work. -
I'm October now too. Insurance requirements had me at 12/13.....then we lost our insurance:-(. So I'm off to Sunny (slightly scary) Mexico. come on October.

Dr. Lopez or Dr. Garcia? Cant decide? Any input appreciated
WeighDownSouth replied to atlchick's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
Tim H... Is this the same Dr Garcia that alma coordinates with? I'm trying to gather information. My date is 10/18. I'm traveling to tj alone and want to know what to expect. Edited to add that I'm brand new to discussion boards entirely and may have answered part of my question:-$ -

I'm excited to hear how it goes with Dr Garcia as well. I talked to so many coordinators and was pleased with Alma (r4ac) and the communication with dr Garcia. I'm scheduled for 10/18!!!! When are you going?
