...and i gained a pound this week. I'd like to blame it on time of the month but it probably has more to do with that key lime pie that was in our fridge for a few days... good luck everyone and thanks Bea for doing this;-)

No Bread, Pasta, Rice for 6 mos? Really?
WeighDownSouth replied to lapnicky's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Don't look at it as something you CAN'T have and give yourself time after surgery to figure out what fuels your new body. I was petrified about giving up bread (I'm a baker!) and now I really don't want it (2 months post op). My family loves Asian food and I'm a sucker for pad thai. I had no idea what I was going to do!! As it stands I was completely satisfied with a bite of the crust of some fresh baked sourdough last week. I had a bite of my husband's pad thai for the taste and was good. I'm in no way a nutrition expert, but one of the hardest things seems to be changing our thoughts about food. Food isn't "good" or "bad", its fuel for the awesome machine that is our body. Give it some good stuff and make the best choices that you can;-) Good luck!!! -
Juicing Post-Op
WeighDownSouth replied to LovelyLife's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had VSG on 12/6. Had fresh squeezed pineapple juice on 12/8. I started with juiced veggies on about 12/11 (didn't get a home juicer until then). A lot of NUTs or other sleevers will probably steer you toward the splenda/sugar free chemical stuff. i'm funny about artificial crap and wanted my body to get Vitamins naturally. That juice was a lifesaver in the beginning (definitely STRAIN it). I'm convinced its one of the reasons my energy didn't sag. I was back at work and chasing four kids by 12/12. Dont expect to be able to drink a lot and don't forget to log it into something like myfitnesspal to stay on top of the sugar. I watered a lot of mine down. my favorite was one apple, half a lemon, some ginger and a handful of kale or spinach and a little Water. Apple carrot ginger was good too. Best of luck to you on your journey. It's really amazing to start to take control of your health!! -

Missed my goal:-( Goal 185 cW 188 Stupid pms and stupid valentine candy!! Those two things should never exist in the same house. I doubt last nights margarita with salty Mexican soup helped either. Oh well, ready for the St Patricks day challenge. This time my husband is joining me:-$

Bad acid and gas
WeighDownSouth replied to Rcnavigated76's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doctor sent us home with omeprazole to take twice a day. I couldn't function without it. I'm two months out. The acid is no fun at all! -
I'm having a hard time with comparing my loss to others. I know each body is different but I wish the weight would just go already!!! I've lost 22 lbs since the first of December. I'm super excited By the loss, but I want to drop a pants size or something. I'm on a Facebook page and love that the ladies who had surgery w me have lost 40+pounds already, but it's hard to keep pushing that "like" button when jealousy rears it's ugly head. *sigh*

December Sleevers?
WeighDownSouth replied to FitnFabfor2014's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm so over October. And November. Although I'd be lying if I said that i wasn't a little (a lot) exited about one more good old fashioned SC family Thanksgiving. I had to move from October to December due to work commitment. I"m actually having it on my birthday. 12/10. I'm going to MX I've done the rounds with insurance companies twice and had all of the counseling, sleep studies etc. Once I made it 4 months and then job change, no insurance. The next time I made it two and then plan changed. I've been trying too long. Come on December. the stress of waiting is making me fat(ter)
