I am 4 weeks out now. I've lost 30 lbs so far (that includes what I lost on the pre-op diet). I haven't lost anything in almost two weeks but I'm not letting myself get discouraged because I know it will start again and I know I'm losing inches. Just know that like everyone else said, it's normal. Just keep doing what you've been doing so far and don't get discouraged. Congrats on the weight loss so far!

It's funny how all surgeons are different. I got sleeved July 26th and see where people that had their surgery around the same time as me are already eating regular foods. My surgeon takes a more cautious approach. I had to do 2 weeks of full liquids. I am now starting the second week of pureed foods. After that I do 2 weeks of soft foods and then I can eat regular foods again. I've lost 27 lbs so far and have gone down a clothing size. I haven't had a bit of trouble with swallowing or getting sick. I do struggle with the amount of food I can eat. I can only eat 1 to 2 ounces at a time. My dietitian wants me to eat 2 ounces. I've been trying to do that but when I do eat that much I get really gassy and bloated feeling. The liquid diet was really mentally challenging for me but I haven't felt deprived at all since I started the pureed stage. I'm just happy to have food again.

Thanks for the helpful pointers on the protein. I'll give that a try!

I struggle with the smoking thing. I didn't quit pre-op like I was supposed to but I did cut back. I was so nervous about my surgery, which was July 26th. I was so afraid I was going to have complications because I didn't quit. I got lucky and everything went great and I am recovering very well. I am not justifying smoking. I'm just saying that I was very lucky. I told myself that I was not going to smoke after my surgery but I'm still struggling with it. I don't smoke much but I do smoke a few. I can't even enjoy them because I'm too worried that smoking is going to harm my sleeve, which it very well could. I think it's been harder because I'm still on liquids and am struggling with that. It's been hard giving up food and trying to give up cigarettes at the same time. Fact is that smoking after the sleeve is a very bad and dangerous idea. I WILL quit and I hope I can find the strength to hurry up and do so. I feel for everyone struggling with this issue. We all worked to hard for this. Do we really want to risk it all for a cigarette? If we have the willpower and strength to do everything we have to do for our weight loss, I believe we can kick the smoking habit, too.

I am jealous of all of you. My doctor apparently believes in a much slower approach for adding foods. He has his patients doing two weeks of full liquids, two weeks of pureed and then two weeks of soft. I was sleeved July 26th so I am still on liquids. I am looking forward to getting to the pureed stage for I am sick of nothing but strained cream of soups and protein shakes. I, too, struggle with getting my water in. I sip all day but I haven't even made it to 30 ounces yet. My doc didn't give me a protein or calorie goal. I'm trying to get as much protein in as possible but with my limited options, I know I'm not hitting but maybe an average of 30 grams right now. I'm only having my "meals" 3 or 4 times a day. If I do more than that I'll surely never get all my water in. How often is everyone else eating? I get 3 to 4 ounces at a time. Am I eating enough? I haven't lost anything in about 4 days now.

You look amazing and are an inspiration for someone like me at the beginning of this journey! So happy for you!

I'm only 8 days post op and am going through the remorse thing right now. I am really struggling with the liquid diet for all I've been able to have is strained cream of soups and protein shakes. I have another week of the liquids before I can move to the pureed stage. I've had some thoughts of regret and wish I could have done this on my own without the surgery. I know it will all be worth it and it will just be another month before I can eat "normal" food again but I would give anything right now for a bite of chicken or a grilled cheese sandwich. I have been fortunate, though. So far I have had absolutely no problems with being sick or uncomfortable at all.

I just had my surgery July 26th. I lost 10 lbs on the pre-op liquid diet and so far I've only lost 3 lbs since the surgery. I know it hasn't even been a week yet but I'm a little disappointed. I've been walking several times a day and am only able to eat about two ounces at a time. Am I just being too impatient?

Weight Loss 1st Week Post Op

I definitely need to put the scales away. I find myself weighing myself several times a day. I think I'll get my daughter to hide them from me. Lol -

Anyone noticing changes in food taste? (I'm post op 4 1/2 weeks)
kitkatcannon replied to Mike in LA's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am only 5 days out from my surgery and have noticed that I don't like anything sweet anymore. I was a sugar addict before the surgery. It makes my options extremely limited for the 2 week full liquid diet I'm on but just the thought of jello or popsicles turn my stomach now.
