Mary... stick with that med before your surgery. I have the same thing (H Pylori) but didn't get my prescription until after. I found I was allergic to one of the pills (exaggerated side effects). And now I'm not eating enough to coat my stomach for the new pills. I wish I had been given them prior!

I understand completely! I've lost 40 + lbs and hardly a mention of it anywhere. We went to see my Dh's parents last weekend.....(btw...they know nothing about my surgery) and my husband says.... "doesn't she look great?" His mother then replies ...."oh yes ....but YOU"VE lost weight too and look terrific!" She went on and on about it. She did say to my sister-in-law ...."she looks good doesn't she" and she replied ....."I love your shoes!" Okay ....lets get this straight .....My DH is about 190lbs ....and maybe has gained a few from eating the other half of MY meals! Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr (but I did have on cute shoes)

Mary, Remember when you went to the informational meeting? I'm sure there were lot's of people...... I know there were at least 75 in my meeting. Those people as well as those from all the other meetings are all trying to get to the same goal. I don't mean to sound harsh but I'm going to reiterate patience. It's good to practice it now because you'll really have to put it into practice after your banded. It's one of the hardest things I had to learn. Trust me, I am with you as far as having certain expectations from those we give our money to and put our trust in. I'm glad you decided to give them a break. I have been treated with respect and kindness at Richmond Surgical.....in fact, 3 days before my surgery I was told it might not happen due to an abnormal EKG. Joyce called my cardiologist and made a special appointment to get things resolved so I could keep my surgery date. Hang in there and vent all you need to!

Yes, Dr. Brengman is my doctor ! Good choice

Hi Mary! Patience is the key. I think I waited almost two weeks before I heard from the office. I'm going to assume you've already had your psych evaluation and your 3 hour nutrition class.....if you haven't, you should schedule those immediately. Those must be completed before your pre-op. They are great in the office and will get to you as soon as possible, remember, everyone is anxious...I know I was! I can share my time table with you..... started the process in January, got a quick approval in less than a week and was scheduled for surgery on June 7th. I have serious doubts that you will have yours by the time school is back in....but I wish you luck! Let us know how your doing....and which Doc are you seeing?

Since my fill I've PB'd twice
TheNewMe1964 replied to finallythin@34's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Finallythin, I too had my first fill last Thursday. I've PB'd a few more times than I'd like. It's like starting all over, learning what can be eaten and what can't. Grapes were fine last Wednesday...today they are a big no no. I'm finding that if I really take me time and chew a lot it's a bit easier. But this is a huge change from last week. -
Keep your head up! You will lose, and you will feel more restriction after your fill. I too have felt discouraged that I had little restriction and seemed to be hungry all the time, but I was determined to follow the rules the Doctor gave me and icecream was no where in the Can Do's! When I was really hungry, I ate fruit and healthy Snacks....if you eat the good stuff it will stay with you longer, and don't forget....drink plenty of Water. Now after my fill it's hard to eat the way I did prior....things get stuck very easily so it's important to eat slowly and chew very well. I've started losing again and it's feeling really good. Please don't feel like a failure. This is a whole new process and we all must learn to do things differently. Examine your feelings about your disappointment, is this something you can put your finger on? If you mentally throw in the towel it will be a bumpy ride. It is very early in the journey and things will improve for you!

Hello, I had my first fill on the 19th. I have a total of 5.6 cc's and it's taking some getting used to. I didn't have a problem with any foods prior to the fill, now I'm hungry but can't eat much. I've done the whole Pb'ing etc..... even with mushies. Tuna was the only thing that worked today. I'm happy that the weight loss has been reactivated, but it's hard to keep enough proteins in me so that I don't feel light-headed.

OMG! A hairball...........too funny. This just happened to me for the first time....and yes.....just like a hairball. I was trying to explain it to my DH (not that he wanted the details) but this is it. Thanks :biggrin1: -
kland, Thanks for your funny post. I go for my first fill on Thursday. A loaf of bread? Ha Ha I'm laughing....oh to feel some restriction. I was a little worried about how it would feel since the placement of my port is so sensitive. I will let everyone know how it goes~

LeLee, My approval came quick! Within a week. The long part was waiting for it to be scheduled .....about 2 months:cry. The whole process from the begining in January with the seminar .....to all the other hoops you must jump through along the way .....finally came to a sugery date of June7th. It seemed like an eternity.....but the time frame was exactly the way I was told it would be. Best of luck to you LeLee, please let me know your progress and if I can answer any questions don't hesitate to ask. I go for my first fill on Thursday!!!:clap2:

Hello fellow Virginians~ I was banded on June 7th at St Mary's by Dr Brengman. Glad to see there are other's from the same office. They seem to be great there, maybe I'll see some of you at my next visit!

I want to burp so bad but I can't. Help Me!
TheNewMe1964 replied to luvinke's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded 2 weeks ago and experienced horrible gas pains (not in the shoulder area). I was advised to take Gas X pills or chewables, it really made a huge difference. Give it a try!
