  1. Hi All, Today starts my 7 day pre-op 1,000 calorie diet. I know I can do this, I have to do this! I saw my surgeon last week and he said please do the diet it shrinks the liver and makes the surgery easier for me and you. I can't believe it's a week away-March 18, looking forward to this new Chapter in my life. I could not do this without all of you. Can someone tell me exactly how to paste my ticker. I created it but don't know how to paste it? Thanks, Corgi "By his stripes we are healed"

    What's it like?

Daisydoodle, I'm so glad you asked this question, I'm being banded on Friday, March 18 and I want to learn as much as I can. Thanks to all for you feelings of restrictions, I am sure everyone is different. I am going to try and stop after a few bites and see how I feel before continuing, I think this is really good advice. 5. Hi all, I'm scheduled to be banded on Friday March 18th. When I was at my pre-op seminar last week, we were told to do the pre-op diet about 7 days before surgery. It's only 1000 calories per day, the thought of it sends me in a tizzy, I hope I will be able to do this....when I reviewed the plan this morning I couldn't believe what little food there was. Most of the time I'm shoveling the food in, but I have cut back because I know it is right around the corner! What has been your experience with your pre-op diets? Thanks, Corgi

  7. Zoey, Thanks so so much, for taking the time to write this long post. You are an inspiration for me. I will be banded in 2 weeks, and sometimes I wonder am I doing the right thing. I feel your post is an affirmation to all who plan to take the lapband journey. This is the BEST board in Town. Corgi

18 Days Till I Get My Band!!!

Hi Jamie and Vinesqueen, I'm also March 18? When do you start your pre-op diet. My doctor said 5 days before, but I am starting today. I have eaten everything I want, and now I'm done. I'm so tired of feeling sluggish. Ladies, which Protein drinks are you going to use, once you get to stage III? My nutritionist recommended Real Meals... Just think we can all support each other. Wish both of you luck! Corgi

    Last Supper...

I'm scheduled to be banded on Friday March 18, this Wednesday is my Pre-Op Seminar and I know that a few weeks before surgery I start my Pre-Op food plan. I have been eating so much lately, trying to get in that last supper. This morning I am so stuff I can't even move, now I've had enough! Has anyone else done this? 11. Hi everyone, It has been 2 1/2 years since my treatment for Cancer and am Grateful to the Lord everday that I am alive and Cancer Free. I had Lymphoma and was treated at Yale New Haven Cancer Center in CT. I'm so thankful that my Oncologist has given me the green light to have the lapband procedure. Has anyone here on the LBT board know of anyone who had cancer and then got the lapband. I did meet someone at a Seminar who had breast cancer and then got the lapband and she has been successful. 12. Hi, I'm new to the board and am scheduled for Lapband surgery on March 18 somewhere in CT. I have done a lot of research and seminars since July 2004 and finally made up my mind in October. I have met several people who have had success with the Lapband. I was wondering if any of you felt like this was just one more diet, one more trip down the weight loss highway. I have fear of failure and it's probably because all other diets in the past have failed over the long run. Did any of you have these reservations? Renee Age 48

    Cancer Free and now Lapband

Vera, I have had UC for since 1988, I had a few flare ups and a really bad flare up about 4 years ago, thank God nothing since. I currently take azaulfidine two tabs-twice a day. I ask my surgeon will I still be able to take my meds and he said yes, I will just have to crush them. So my question to you is, was your GI OK with you getting the lapband even with your surgery? That was another reason I chose the lapband, I didn't want to do anything drastic like Gastric Bypass, at least the lapband is reversible. Renee

    For those who have religion

Greg, It's amazing how the Lord works, your post is so inspirational to me, I have it in my favorites so I can share with other friends. To God Be The Glory. I am also sad to hear about your cousin, when you are battling Cancer (that ugly demon) it can be so hard to keep fighting, I know that the Lord was their to receive him home. Kathy, I am also sorry to hear about Nana, I had a Nana once, will never have another one again. "Greater is he that is in me, then he that is in the World"

I am truly sorry to hear about your son but grateful to hear about your other son. I lost my Aunt about 4 years ago and then a dear close friend to breast cancer last year. Until it happens you or your family, it is so hard to understand, it is so ugly. But their is a God who is bigger then Cancer. I wish you peace. Renee

Greg, Crohns and Ulcerated Colitis are in the same family, I know because I have UC. As long as your daughter takes her meds and gets regular check ups she will be fine. Everyone, There is so much LOVE here thanks for all your encouraging words. Renee By his stripes we are healed scheduled surgery 3/18/05 Dr. Valin in New Haven CT

    What irritates you?

As I'm reading your post I'm getting irritated, after I am banded I will not be able to eat over these feelings, so I am glad I have this message board to vent. Sue that person is not a friend, I would keep my distant, she will get the hint. I have had several friends that would do that in the past when I lost weight, at one point they say they are supporting you while putting a piece of cake under you nose. I have told a few friends at work and one in particular I wish I didn't. She keeps repeating to me, how could the insurance cover cosmetic surgery and I keep telling her this is NOT cosmetic surgery. In one breath she tells me she is happy for me but keeps slipping in the word cosmetic. I told her if it was comestic then our insurance company would not cover it. ARGGGGGGGGH! Renee scheduled to be banded 3/18 somewhere in CT
