    hic-ups

Hi, I was banded on March 18 and yes I get hic cups, but not that often anymore. For me they are a sign that I am full, and if I don't stop I will be sorry too!
  2. I'm 4 days into the mushy stage and I did something STUPID last night. As you all know once we get into the mushy stage we want to EAT, well at least I did! After worked last night I decided to stop and get some shrimp and vegetables and rice for me and my husband. Once I got home I measured my portion and put it in the blender, it was like minced shrimp and vegetables, it looked weird but tasted good. Then I decided to take a spoon of the white sticky rice and eat it, well all of a sudden, I felt like food was in my throat, then I felt like I couldn't breath, then a weird feeling in my upper chest, and hic ups. I went over to the sink and tried to take a sip of water, that did not help, I burped again, leaned over the sink and tried to make myself throw up, and guess what my food -not much- came up. A friend of mine who has the band and said, you will know when something get's stuck or you eat too fast..and boy did I... I will never do that again! I still have that Old Stinky thinking when it comes to food.
  3. I had my surgery on March 18 and I had the same problem as you. My skin was itching because of the tape and the gauze, under that was steri strips. At about 1 week out I was able to remove the gauze and tape and then when I went to the doctor they removed the steri stripes. Just call your doctors office and ask them.

    Egg drop soup

Love the Egg Drop Soup... A few days after I was home from surgery I was able to have Egg Drop Soup, my husband would go down the street and get it from a Chinese Resturant. It was such a treat for me. As far as PB's well I have been a naughty girl, I am almost 3 week's post off and am in the mushy stage. I have pb 3 times and threw up twice and I know exactly what I did. I was rushing eating and another time I didn't chew, old stinky thinking. The pb's are not bad BUT the throwing up is not fun. I really have to pay attention and change my old ways, the band does slow you down...I LOVE MY BAND
  5. Hi all, I just wanted to share that I had my first post op visit yesterday and I am down 11.2 pounds in 2 weeks, can't believe it! I feel so good, the surgeon said my incisions are healing but the port incision is still a bit sore, that will take a little longer to heal. I have graduated to the mushy/baby food, so glad I can eat regular food. My next appt is Monday April 25th for my first fill.

    2 weeks since surgery and..

Roseann, So am I hungry about a few hours after I eat. After the surgery I had no desire for food, for almost 8 days, I think because of all the anesthesia and meds and swollen stomach from the surgery. If I lose that desire to eat after a fill I will do well.

    2 weeks since surgery and..

Hi Roseann, My twin sister's name is Roseann! I just started musy stage and as someone said here on the board, you can eat anything, healthy that is, but just blend it in a blender or food processor. I am very moderate, I am still eating Soups, cream of wheat and soft foods, I fell safer that way. Go to the food section of the board to get some ideas.

Surgery this Wed. March the 30th

Hi there Ezzysmom, After reading your first post, I thought I was reading the one I posted here about 2 weeks before surgery. I had the same feelings as you about failure and nervousness, but someone I work with, who had the band explained to me, we spent all our lives on other diet's, food plans and failed at those, so why wouldn't we have the same feelings now! She is a very wise woman who has lost over 98lbs with the lapband, she reminds me every day, this is a tool to help us on our journey and we are not perfect. I'm 10 days post op and see my surgeon on Wednesday 3/30 to remove my stiches. I was very very sore the day after surgery, but everone is different! Good luck and before you know it, you will be on the other side.... Corgi
  11. Hi All and Happy Holiday. I can't believe it has been over 1 week since my surgery. As I have shared I was so uncomfortable after surgery, I was like..."What did I do", but I have to say every day got better. I'm so happy I can't believe it, I have more energy, I cleaned out my clothes closet, started going up and down the basement stairs more then twice in one day, my pants are already loose. When I first came home from the hospital I had no desire to eat (full liquids that is) for so long. I couldn't smell food, the thought of it made me sick, but towards the end of this week I really started to feel hungry, the thought of another Protein or Soup meal just doesn't seem to cut it! I have been on full liquids since 2 days after surgery and I have to say I'm just starting to feel hungry. I see my surgeon in a few days (Wednesday) to remove the stiches and can't wait, I'm ready to move to Stage 4. How long did all of you stay on Full Liquids (Stage 3) before moving to Stage 4;baby food/mushy's,

  15. Hi Bandsters.... I'm official a Bandster...YEA! I can't believe it's over. I have to say no one warned me about the pain (soreness) associated with the lapband surgery. I was sicker, sorer then sore, when I woke up from surgery Friday night, I was crying in pain, as the OR staff lifting me onto the recovery bed and wheeled me into the recovery room. Friday night is like a flash card, somethings I remember and other things I don't. BUT I remember that pain, it was very clear, as soon as I got a shot of demerol all was well., in happy land. My mother stayed at my house and cooked and cleaned for my DH and two doggies, so to return to a clean house the following night as Asume! I also like Jamie. got stuck in the bed, I yelled for someone to come and help me get up, and my DH just looked at me and laughed. I said please give me your hand and pull me up.. I have not had any problem with Gas at all, but the Belching is unbelieveable, did any bandster had that too? Does the belching continue or does it subside over time? Today is a much beter day..and thanks to all you bandster. Now I live in Bandster Land., Now I live in Bandster Land....

    pain survey

I'm so glad you posted this. I just had surgery on Friday and let me tell you, I never expected the pain I was in after the surgery. Late Friday I was rolled into the OR, I was put under General Anesthesia, I remember them trying to wake me up after the surgery and I was screaming in pain, they must of immediately given me something. Mind you, everything is still a little blurry. Friday night I was woken up every 3 hours, taking my temp, b/p, pluse, given me anther intervenous bag of fluids, also Demerol every 4 hours which helped alot. Saturday was the WORST!., on a scale of 1-10 I was a WHOPPING 10!., you want the truth... Saturday I regreted having surgery, I said if I knew this I would of never done it! Saturday night my DH picked me up at the hospital, took me home and I felt like a Mac Truck slammed into my stomach. I went right to bed, I could not roll over without any pain. I needed my husband to help me get out of bed. I was given codeine with tylenol, but I did not want to take it, to me that's just one more hurdle to get over. So I just took extra strength liquid tylenol and that worked o.k. Sunday, was a bit better, and today, I feel good about a 3. Also wanted to let you know I can take a lot of pain, but this surgery for me, was unbearable. Today (day 4) I am so happy I live in Bandster Land., a happy 3.
  17. I can't believe it's here, OMG.... I'm not nervous at all, I just want this over with. Today I have to keep my food very light and then at 3:00pm I take phoso soda, I hate that stuff... I remember when I was researching this surgery about a year ago, went to the seminar in July and then decided let me try one more diet, weight watcher, well that was short lived. I decided in December I had enough, I needed help and went back to the surgeon and started the process. In January we started all the paperwork and every step of the way went smoothly. I believe when you have no stuggles during a process then it's meant to be. Well I will be on the other side over the weekend, and I will get back on the board to share my experience. I can't THANK all of you enough, I get so much support here...

18 Days Till I Get My Band!!!

Jamie, I live in Trumbull CT and will be having my surgery with Dr. Elmer Valin in New Haven CT about 30 mins from my home. My husband is taking Friday off and taking me to the hospital with my mother. I have been thinking about you and it's kool that someone on the board is doing the same day. I told them at work that I will be on vacation, I am taking the following week off also. I only told a few people at work about my surgery, I hope I did the right thing, you know how people love to gossip. I'm really not getting nervous at all, I just can't wait to get this done. Were do you live and where are you getting yours done? I wish you luck we have to talk to compare our experience. Corgi
