I have a 9.75 Inamed (sp) band. Interesting questions, I don't know how they determine what size band you need. Corgi

Corgi replied to nygrl's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I felt the SAME way, it is just still swollen and their is also scare tissue. If you are concerned then call your doctor on Monday, in my opinion it is still to soon after surgery, you are still healing. Corgi -

I had surgery 6 weeks ago and you will feel all kinds of strange things. Is your port on the left side, if so that is normal until you heal. I didn't feel completely sore free untill about 4 weeks. Corgi -
Ladies, I had my first fill on Monday, I was having some problems after but figure I would give it a few days. Of course liquids then mushy's for 3 days. Well yesterday was Protein drink then Soup at lunch, at dinner I tried a soft chicken nugget, well forget about it! I pb for about 2 hours then vomited several times, I felt my esphougas(sp) contracting, I really got scared. This morning called the doctor and they had me come right in. The fill on Monday was 1.75cc's and today they took out .25cc's, so what does that mean, where am I at right now? I know a lot of you have had experience in this. I also dropped another 3 pounds since Monday.... My doctor said liquids for another 3 days and then puree and then regular food. I still feel soreness in my throat and esphougas. Thanks all.

I just had my first fill on Monday +1.75cc, yesterday was a nightmare for me. I was already on soft foods and OMG, I was vomiting unbeliveable and pbing for 4 hours, I felt my esphogas contracting. I called the doctor this morning and he saw me right away and removed -.25cc's. I am back on full liquids for 3 days and puree's for another 3. Had tea this morning and 4 oz Protein drink, lunch 8 oz thin milkshake through out the day, and now came home tried some Soup and vomit. I am still took tight I hope this gets better.... Corgi.

I just had my first fill yesterday and boy am I restricted. Wondering how much was your first fill and do you eventually loosen up? I was on liquids yesterday and soft foods today but can't seem to keep anything down, feel really tight! I think she told me 1.75cc's on the first fill? Thanks, Corgi

I just called my doctors office, and Yes my first fill was 1.75cc. They told me to stay on full liquids for a few days, then mushies for 3. See I wasn't told mushies for 3 days also. I do feel better today, no pb's and no vomit but I am taking it real real easy. Thanks all...

Penni, Thanks for your explanations, and yes my doctor agrees with the question on NSAIDS. He has done many bands and said they are afaird that the small pouch/lining will get an ulcer and that can cause many many problems with the band. Corgi

I too did not know that Old Navy sells plus sizes, I have to check it out online. Congrats to you.... Corgi

Harley Nana, I think the Nurse said 1.75cc's I thought that was too much I have to call tommorrow. I have been pb's after 3 bites at lunch and then tonight, too much I think.. My band is a 9.75 La_madam, They said liquids for 3 days and I started eating today, that's interesting that the fill makes you swell, that's probably what it is but I will call tomorrow. Thanks!

Jamie, How much fill did you get? -
Audrey Congratulations! What an inspiration you are! So good to hear from you. I am 5 weeks since band surgery and have lost 17lbs but still have 102 to lose. I had my first fill yesterday and fell really restricted have PB'd and vomited twice so far. How many fills have you had and did you ever pb and vomit also? Keep up the good work.... Corgi

I think knowing that a doctor lied doesn't say much about his creditability! Penni60, Thanks for the information. Corgi

Hi all, Just wanted to check in, I had my first fill 1.75cc today (5 weeks after surgery), I'm happy because last week I was starting to get hungry and it worried me. They told me in the office today that that's not unusal. I did lose another 5lbs since my last weight in 3.5 weeks ago, totally 17 pounds in 5 weeks. I'm a slow loser so that' good for me. Love my Band

I am in stage 5 and I got home late last night and stopped to pick up dinner for me and my DH. Well I bought a roasted chicken and when I got home I was so hungry I started eating it, skin and all, forgetting to chew. Well within minutes I had so much discomfort in the middle of my chest, I pb'd for about 30 minutes then made myself throw up because something felt stuck and everything came up. I'm embarrased to tell everyone, because I know better, but my old self kicked in. This happened once before BUT never this bad! Any suggestions what to do when this happens, besides trying to make myself barf it up? Corgi

Boys Mom, Stage 5 in my groups practice is total soft foods, my next stage is all foods which I will be starting next Friday. I am 5 weeks out and go tomorrow for my first fill and then my second weigh in... Corgi

Hi bobby, I'm 5 weeks out from surgery and am in Stage 5 (soft food). I am just like you, I'm still learning. Some nights I can have some rice and other times I can't, I can feel it stuck and I have to make myself vomit to relieve the uncomfortableness (don't know if that's a word). The same thing with chicken, it's weird sometimes I can eat it and other times I can't! I'm still into that old thinking, my old ways pushes the food in without even chewing, then when it gets stuck I say Oh shoot, I ate too fast, and I didn't chew. You will learn over time but getting the band was the best thing for me. At dinner I don't eat at the table anymore because everyone around me eats way too much, and in my eating days I would eat more then my husband. Tomorrow I go for my first fill and then my second weight in.

I used a doctor in New Haven, CT. I think mine was around 17,000.00 includes free fills for life. My insurance company paid in full. If you want more info PM me. Corgi

dallasdoll, I am 4 weeks out from Band Surgery, and the only day I regretted it was the day after surgery, so sore I couldn't move for 3-4 days. RNY was NEVER even and option for me, the risks for way to high. My mother's friends son died about 2 years ago from Gastric Bypass and my husband's Aunt's brother was very very sick right after Gastric, he was given his last rights 3 times. He was in the hospital for almost 2 months and yes he may be thin, but he looks sickly, and he regrets having Gastric Bypass. I was watching American Idol last night and noticed that Randy Jackson looks like he is putting his weight back on and had Gastric Bypass. Don't listen to what other people say, stay on this board and you will be fine!

Hi all, I had surgery 4 weeks ago and am feeling GREAT, but now I'm getting more hungry. I'm in stage 5 for food, but I am finding I can eat more. I go for my first fill on Monday, April 25 and I also will get weighted. I know I've read this before on the board but I don't feel the restriction I felt when I first came home from the hospital.
