    What is your food weakness?...

I never was an ice cream freak UNTIL I got the band, go figure. Since being banded I eat about 1/3 of what I use to eat.
  2. I went for my 8 week follow up and I was only down -6, I thought it was more like 10 - 12 pounds, I guess my scale is WRONG! I'm a little disappointed but as I told the PA, I have been having a lot of problems with meat veggies and fruits, and I have been eating a lot of soft things (which are higher in calories) to compensate. I asked if they could take some fill out, so I was at 1.85cc, now I am at 1.65cc's, I hope with this reduction I can eat heathier choices. The PA told me that sometimes after a reduction people start to gain weight again. I told them I would like to come in every 6 weeks so I will be held more accountable, and they said that would be o.k. I have to look at the positive side, down 30lbs in 5 months, I will pat myself on the shoulder for that!

    Calling all March 05 bandsters!

Hi all, I was also banded on March 18, I'm due for my follow up on Thursday August 25th, my scales shows another 10-12 lb lose, but I want to wait till it's official on my doctor's scale. NSV's, started at size 26/28, now wearing size 22. Today I went for my PET Scan, I had cancer 3 years ago, and today I fit in the scan without having to cross my arms in front of me and the belt fit without an extension, what a blessing that was! I turned 49 on Saturday and bought myself a Treadmill, since I started using it 5 days a week, my weight is coming off quicker. I don't mind looking in the mirror anymore. More and more people are asking me what kind of diet are you on, I say I am just cutting back, I don't want too many people to know.
  4. Hi all, I'm almost 5 months out since being banded and really feeling and looking good. I was a size 26 when I started and currently at a size 22. I've noticed lately that I can tolerate chicken and fish a little more then before, the key for me is to eat slow and take small bites, and not to rush through my meals. If I can't finish my meal, I try to eat half of it, and then about 10 minutes later eat the rest, this works. I have had 2 fills, currently at 1.85cc's, don't think I will get another one at my follow up on August 25. I don't pb like I use to and I don't vomit, only if something gets stuck, which is not often now. I'm down about another 10lbs but don't want to publish it until it's official on my doctors scale.

    Just right vs. too tight

HarleyNana, I am where you are at right now, when I had my first fill they brought me right up to 1.75cc within days I was pbing, and vomiting. Thanks to the board and all your support, I was advised to call my doctor right away, that was on day 5. I paged the doctor and he said to come right in. When I got their I was 3 pounds less and he said o.k. let's take some out, I felt so much better. When I went for my second fill they only gave me .35cc's and I was still restricted. Just lately I have been able to eat more meat and more of my meals, but nowhere the amount of food I use to eat. I think I may pass this time on another fill. Harleynana I was pbing all the time too, always getting things stuck and every other day I would have a sore throat. I'm sure a lot of this has to do with finally working with the band, not against it.

    2 questions: Sick? Calories?

Barbaraan, I couldn't of described it more perfectly then you. I learned my lesson once when I was in the mall trying to eat lunch and I felt a pb coming, so I ran to my car. Well before you knew it I was pbing all over the place that was the last for me, I had to drive home, clean myself and the inside of my car. Now I keep a roll of paper towels and paper cups in my car, just in case....

    Is it true ..............

Delarla, I have to confess I have a real bad craving for ice cream every night, never before I was banded, it just goes down so nice and easy. I only eat Edy's light it's 1/3 less fat and calories, and I limit myself to 6 oz at night, it is a fight to stop but it does help the craving for something sweet. Maybe that cold be a reason why I am not losing quickly but I know that I am over 30lbs and 4 months out...

My eyes are bigger than my band!

I'm glad someone finally brought this up. I am 4 months out and just learning to eat SLOW SLOW SLOW and CHEW CHEW CHEW. As far as portions I am getting better, remember we ate so much for so long so it is going to take some time to learn new behaviors. I am definately eating half of what I use to eat.

    Hiccups after eating?

I also get hiccups and burps not all the time, but most of the time. I have tried to listen to everyone here on the board, that is a signal to stop eating, or slow down. I'm 4 months out and still learning, how do you break years and years of bad habits...one day at a time.... Corgi
  15. Hi Jamie, Unfortunately, my doctor's office responded the same way yours did. I ask the Head Nurse at my first fill, what size is my band and how much fill are you going to give me, she snapped her head around and said to me, "Why do you need to know" and I snapped my head at her and said "I have a RIGHT to know what is in my body and how much fill you are giving me", after that she responded. I was thinking why would she be so secretive, maybe it's a mental thing, they want us to think we are tighter then we are or don't want to give us an inch, in case we want to eat. Because being an overeater we know all the tricks of the trade....I still am curious also. Corgi
  16. Hi All, I just wanted to share that I am 4 months out and am definately noticing the change in my body. Yesterday I pulled out of my closet 2 shirts that I wore around the winter time, they were so big I had to give them away. My home scale shows another 7 pound lost, BUT I want to wait till it's official on my doctors scale. My doctor's office sees me every 7-8 weeks so my next visit is the middle of August, I will record my weight loss then. I'm currently at 1.85cc after my second fill and I don't think I need another adjustment, but we will see what he says.

    Restriction confusion.....

I am just like La Madam, if I eat too fast, am agitated or rushing, and don't chew I get the golf ball feeling. What amazes me is that I have only had 2 fills and 1 unfill, I am currently at 1.85cc and I don't think I can tolerate another fill. I am schedule for another fill the end of August so we will see. The band for me is really feckled some days I am tighter then others, but mostly tighter... Corgi

gaining weight back after the band

This is a very interesting topic, but I also agree that we have to work along with the band. Their were two reasons I picked the band, one because it was least invasive and two, because I wanted to be able to learn how to discipline my eating habits too. Look at some of the people who have had the Gastric Bypass and gained back weight, I would feel awful if I went that route and then gained back weight. I think their is no magic bullet and everyday is a new day to make changes. I learned that sweets and light ice cream go down really easy but I have to limit myself and gain portion control when it comes to this food choices. I'm 4 months out down 30 pounds, but not official by my doctors scale yet. Corgi
  19. Hi all, I am having a colonoscopy tomorrow and was wondering if anyone has had this done with the lapband. I've had this procedure done several time in the past because I have Ulcerated Colitis, and every three years need to be rechecked. The prep for the procedure is the worst, I have to drink 4 Liters of Coloyte today and I am dreading it. Corgi

How much does the band weigh?

I never thought of this, how funny, I think a few ounces. Corgi

    Help please

I get things stuck all the time, and I make myself vomit/or spit it up, if not I'm uncomfortable. I do liquids or soups and stuff for about 3 days this helps to bring the swelling down in the espohogus and stomach. This always works for me. Corgi
  22. I heard something the other day that really made some sense. The higher the barometric pressure the tighter your band! Could that be why some days my band feels tighter then others? Some days I can handle meat and some days I can't, some days I can eat more and other days I can't, every day is a different day.... Corgi
  23. Hi Chunk, I hear ya, I am almost 4 months out and I have had 2 fills, meat is really really hard. Everything depends on the day. I can eat sometimes, McDonald's chicken nuggets, and mushed tuna salad, and crumbled lean turkey burger. You will learn the tricks.

    Calling all March 05 bandsters!

It looks like I hit 30lbs by my home scale also, BUT I don't want to record it until I see my Doctor in the middle of August and it's official by his scale. I'm a slow loser too, BUT I am headed in the right direction, that's all that matters. Corgi

    Dialation

My doctor told me he stitched mine too., I just don't understand how a band can slip if it is stitched. What are the tell tale signs? Corgi
