  1. Has anyone had band to sleeve revision with Dr. Provost in Denton or consulted with him? If so I would appreciate some feed back about the experience. Was process easy? Did he try to get you to do the GB vs the Sleeve? Did you do it one surgery or two? Did he drain band first? And if you happen to know how many he has done that would be great!!! Thank you all for your in put. I want the good and bad
  2. Today is day on of post-op. I had my surgery yesterday morning (24th). So far so good. First leak study should be done around 9am this morning. Let's pray it successful Has anyone else had theirs this week, we can share new journey together So far the only part that bothers me is the terrible cotton mouth since you can't drink for 24 hours. Other than that, I managed to walking around (best thing you and do) and I can go potty alone. I must say from day one with Dr.Cribbins to post op at Baylor Frisco has been amazing experience. Every person I came in contact are truly great! And hospital Beautiful. My room is like mini hotel. It has my area and TV and a little den area where my kids and or guest can watch their own TV on pull out couch. Who ever thought of that extra perk is genius, especially for patients with kids! To make the stay better my preop nurse shared with me that not only did she have the sleeve 2+ years ago any lost 124 pounds... She had same surgeon as I did! She eased every doubt and fear and had me lol by time they rolled me back. Good luck and God bless my new virtual sleeve family! Elaine

    Extra skin?

Those that have lost 50-85 pounds do you have a problem with extra skin? I can't afford to get tummy tuck and thigh lift and now that I shared my new sleeve the first comments are what are you going to do with extra skin? I how horrible it is going to be. I thought that extra skin under clothes would look better than fat under clothes. I'm 5'2 started out at preop at 220 and one week post 207 (13 pounds). I was wondering if anyone started out about my size that lost the weight and feel like they look worse with the extra skin? Thanks

    Starving!

OMGoodness I am 6 days out and feel like I'm starving! And being on cycle makes it worse! I thought they removed the hormone that makes you hungry when they took your stomach....my stomach growls all the time and people say it's just air... However, it is the same feeling I had when I was hungry BEFORE the sleeve, so I'm pretty sure I am really hungry! I did 3 days clear and now liquids for 5 weeks! Please God let it go by fast. I know it's worth it on the end but man getting through the the next 5 weeks on same old Protein drinks and limited Soup uggggg!
  8. I know this is going to make me sound stupid but how would you know if you have internal bleeding vs your cycle. I had a friend that had the sleeve and after about a month she lifted something too heavy and had vaginal bleeding. They told her she was far enough past surgery that it was ok. Has anyone else experienced or heard that? My cycles are irregular (sorry to share too much) I'm sure I'm due soon and I have tiny spotting but how do I tell the difference? I am day 4 out of surgery,no fever, feel fine and taking pain meds only once a day now. I get around well and I took shower. All in all that is the only concern I have is about the spotting. And I have terrible cotton mouth.
  9. I'm so sorry this is going to sound gross but I had surgery Thursday 10/24 today is Monday and I have watery diarrhea every since saturday night. I have no fever but sometimes fell flushed. I can walk around and I can drink Water and Protein shakes (started those today) without problem. The only concern was the watery bm. Anyone else go through this if so how long did it last

I will ask them for sure when I see them tomorrow! Thank you for the advice!
  12. What pureed food is safe to try after surgery? I did three days clears and now I'm on liquid/pureed food but I'm nervous to try puréed so soon after surgery Can y'all tell me what works for you and how soon after surgery did you try it? I am a terrible eater - which is why I had to get the sleeve in first place. I hate eggs, oatmeal and the only yogurt I like is frozen LOL Any help
  13. Amen!!! Thank you God for helping to ease my doubts by placing the right people in front of me, an excellent surgeon and a forum like this were we can all go for support!
  14. You should be able to ask your doctor direct how many leaks has he treated and if he is good he will tell you. I asked mine and he told my he had ONE leak in the last 6 years and it was because the day the patient went home she used a c- pap machine to sleep with. But the bottom line is ... Always always follow your gut instinct because more times than not it is always right. Get a second opinion for a doc. If you where approved by insurance I don't see why you wouldn't get approved with a different surgeon. Your doing the right thing asking of patients their experiences because they would know first hand vs a doctor office telling you what you want to hear. I went to two doctors and I decided to go with the one I felt comfortable with plus there were patients on this forum that used him and had great things to say about him. I am 6 days out and so far so good. Good luck with young decision.

    Help.... post op question

    Help.... post op question

I only had 8 ounces of milk today and I have had water and juice on Friday Saturday and Sunday and this started Saturday night. Would lactose intolerance effect me over weekend when I didn't have milk?
  19. Well it seems to be great. Pain is very manageable. For me I feel it in shoulder but nothing that I can't handle. I will say to those having revision... Walk walk and walk so more! It has helps so much! I walked about 3 hours after recover for few min every 2-3 hours day one. By day 2 I was unhooking myself and walking on my own stater at 3am (my body is still on my baby's time zone) then I wakes 20-25 min around 7am and I continued to walk every time I had to go potty. All of the nurses commented what and awesome job I'm doing and I am recovering faster due to that walking. And I have to sway if I lay in bed TOOO long I get stiff and that's when it aches... So I walk a little and feel better. That's all the advice I have so far of day 3

Day One POST-op! Any others :)

I just did my leak test they said it looked beautiful!!! I feel much better than I thought I would about 6 hours after surgery I was up and walking. And by 12... I was getting in and out of my bed taking walks all by myself.... Well myself and morphine LOL I get to go home tomorrow I was given a great tip from one of the nurses that had a sleeve ... She said an easy way to double your Protein ...is to use flavored protein packs (I love unjury brand....instead if mixing one scoop use two ... And since you can only drink two ounces at a time you won't have to drink a lot of it at once even if the taste is too much on you....BUT if you can tolerate 2 ounces at a time then when you get to 8 ounces you will have consumed about 40-44 grams! I believe Unjury vanilla has 22grams in each scoop:) Good luck to my sleeve buddies!
  21. I am on a preop diet 2 weeks before my surgery oct 24th. I know this is to shrink my liver. I can have protein drinks and some thinks like hot cereal low fat or fat free dressing with salad, low fat or fat free puddings and eggs and some cheese.... Just "nothing that ever had eyes" hahahahaha so no meat! Anyway, I wanted to know band to sleeve revision ... Is everyone in this struck diet? Also I am trying to mentally prepare. How much pain can I except when I am in recovery? Has anyone had any complications/leaks and are you happy or regrets? I would love to here from both people who just had revision and tho use more than a year out and have successfully kept weight off! Oh I am staying 2 days per my doc! Thanks so much this sight has really been an amazing help to me. Don't sugar coat!
  22. Oh hell no I would not take that and give it! That band has caused soooo many problems in thousands I people and for the PA to say it's ok to live with a slipped band they are stupid! Find yourself a bariatric surgeon and get a second opinion they should know how to deal with the insurance company. And I may get blasted for this but I say you exaggerate all of your symptoms complain about everything all the pain you are having am at the very least get it removed. I have always hated Cigna! They are one I the worst to deal with! File an appeal So sorry you are going through this I hate when insurance tried to play doctor.
  23. I have a 14 month old ... If approved for band to sleeve revision he will be 15 months, walking and about 24 pounds. I know you can't lift 20 pounds for 4-6 weeks.... Do you think 4 pounds makes that big a difference after about 3-4 weeks post op? I know I have to ask my doc and I will... But has Anyone dared to do this with a toddler??? Thanks as always!!!!
  24. Wow I agree with you. I really have ha great success with UHC... Good luck! Maybe we will have sleeve same time mine is 24th ... I have already did the math in my head and I MIGHT get real food for Christmas even if it is just mush ahahahah
