    Weight loss question

Most likely the meal you do eat is a big one.I used to only eat one or two meals a day, but when I ate, I ate. Since I was banded in July, I have lost 83 pounds. The weight loss came naturally because I could eat so little at a time. I am sure you will be the same. Remember though you must exercise not just for the weight to come off, but also for your skin to tighten up. Good luck.

"normal" food intake after a fill

I know how you feel. I was banded July 20, 2007 and feel my weightloss is extremely slow. I thought by this time, I would be losing 2-3 pounds a week. It is really disappointing. I have already had my first fill. I have lost only 16 pounds since surgery. I am excercising and eating right, but nothing is coming off!
  5. Hi, I had my band 7/20/07. I weighed 241 at surgery and am now 225. I actually fluctuate 1.5 every few days, so I am 223.5 or 225. I got my first fill on 8/20/07 and lost 5 pounds within a few days. Since then, it has been only 1.5 pounds! I am frustrated. I feel like I am not losing very fast. I wonder at what rate other people are losing the weight. I exercise 4x per week at the YMCA for 1 hour, walk on alternate days and my daily calories average about 800 per day. 6. Thanks that is really cool! I think you and I are having surgery on the same day but different towns. I am in San Diego!

    Hello everyone...

Hi Paula, How are you? I am glad you have already had your lapband. I will be getting mine July 20th and am told it is a new and improved version - supposed to make you lose even more weight. Where do you live in the UK? I am from Scotland originally, have been in the US for 30 years. I know a lot of people who have had the lapband (from the facility that I will be getting mine from) and many have done great. Most seem to hit the magic shot after about 3 fills. Of all the people I know that had their surgery last July - they have already lost 100 lbs. So I intend to be one of those statistics! The people that don't seem to do well are the ones that cheat! Of course we all know about cheating as we have done it on every diet ever invented otherwise we wouldn't need the lapband! Of course they make excuses for not losing but the buttom line is they haven't made the commitment to losing. If you drink milkshakes and eat ice cream the weight won't be coming of now will it. How are you feeling? Did you stay in hospital overnight or longer? How are your energy levels? Another things about fills is that people say it takes a couple of days to feel the effect. Bye for now, all the best to you.
  9. I just got my date yesterday. It will be on July 20th. I will have to go on a five day fast before the surgery and then I plan on taking some time off. I really want to devote my time to encorporating new habits into my new life style.

    Hello everyone...

Hi Rhonda, I live in California also and am waiting on a date. It should be within the next couple of weeks. I have been waiting since November (psych test, dietician, a weekly program called "Healthy Roads" required by my insurance company as well as tons of doctor appt.'s) so I am ready to go. I also get nervous thinking about it. Most of the people that have been banded from the facility I am going to, post on a facility run website. So many have been successful. The ones that get out there and exercise and watch what they eat, have all lost about 100 pounds in 11 months. I hope that will be me also!
  11. Hi, I think for people that are having laproscopic surgery, doctors often put them on a liquid diet so that the liver will shrink (as you have not adding fat to it when you are on liquids). This will make it easier for the surgeon to get in and place the lapband. That is what I was told anyway. It seems some doctors want you to fast for 10 days, some five days, and some none. I guess it all depends on the doctor and what procedure they plan on using. I still have a couple of weeks before surgery, so that is kinda knawing at me. I would like to just get it over with and get started with my weightloss.
  12. Can you tell me how you are able to post your tickler with your message? I think that is really cool!
  13. Hello Everyone, Glad to have found this site! I am been pursing the lapband since November 2006. I should have my surgery date within two weeks. I feel I have jumped through a lot of hurdles to get here. I guess it was worth the wait, the surgeon I have told me that just last week he was authorized to use a "new lapband" that produces even greater weightloss results. I guess he is just one of six surgeons in the US able to use it. So I am happy about that.:clap2: I look forward to hearing all your stories and enjoying the challenges and triumphs of the lapband.
