I am 19 days post op and am beginning to have great difficulty having a bowel movement. I've tried still softners. Helped a little but not enough. Took some Milk of Magnesia tonight. Gingers crossed. Was wondering if anyone takes something every day as preventative.

The infamous 3 week stall
Kennedy replied to NTL44's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Also wondering, when you are eating 500-800 calories per day, does that include your protein drinks? I drink two protein drinks per day (60 g. protein), which equals 320 calories. Are you including these calories in the 500-800? Doesn't leave much for actual food? Thoughts? -
The infamous 3 week stall

chrissythemoo, My NUT told me that if you do not get your Protein and Water in, your body is unable to move fat to burn so it burns muscle instead. -
I'll be thrilled if I lose 90 pounds in 6 months. I think that's wonderful.

NSAIDs and other anti inflammatory med... Are you allowed?
Kennedy replied to Strangefruit's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have RA and fibro. My bari doc took me off the anti-inflammatory I was taking but left me on the steroids. They were worried that it would cause ulcers in my pouch long term. Told me to take Tylenol instead of Advil or Aleve. -
Breaking the stall

I'm not there yet, but I love edamame. I like to keep the kernels in the freezer. I get them out a cup at a time and eat them while they're icy. Yummy -

Is a this standard post-op diet?
Kennedy replied to Mel1071's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't see how you could eat anything on that low of a calorie limit after you drink your protein. -
Divorce rate..post op
Kennedy replied to Mrs.FullerRN's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am a big girl. Was a big girl when I married my husband. He loves me for me. I love him for him. He is short, chunky and hairy. Over the course of our marriage he has had 2 kidney transplants and open heart surgery. He is 49. He has raised my daughter better than her biological dad could ever have. Some days I don't like him. I do, however, love him. He is always there for me. If I cry, he cries too. It breaks his heart to think something hurt me. There us nothing he wouldn't do for me. And there's nothing I wouldn't do for him. I would never leave him, no matter what I look like. None of us look the saw as we did when we married. Aging stinks. But it happens. Before you give up, look inside this man. He is still the man you married, the one you loved. The one who loved you. Try to reconnect to this. Maybe he's feeling a little scared that you are looking good. Maybe he is worried he isn't good enough for you. -
I'm sorry you're so miserable. Day 4 was the worst day for me too. Not so much the pain but just miserable. Cried all day and told my husband I had ade a mistake. The biggest incision does hurt the most. I promise, it does get better. I am 15 days out and feel so much better. Think I started turning the corner about day 6. Just hold on.

I was sleeved on 8/9. My doctors office removed my staples on 8/16. (I had 39). I have 7 incisions. I have stitches sticking out of 3-4 if the incisions and they poke me. Is this normal?

Are you Ganegirl on Pinterest? Would luv to check out your ideas. -
They out steri strips on the incisions when the removed the staples but a couple days later I had a reaction to them and had to remove them. Made a blister. They aren't long enough to trim yet. Glad it's normal. Thanks guys.

My highest weight was 410. I lost 18 pounds on 1month pre surg diet. Surgery on 8/9/13 and I now weigh 378. I am 5'4". My doctor recommended the sleeve because of meds I take. I have RA and fibromyalgia and will always take NSAIDS.

Do you guys count the cals in your protein drinks too? If so, doesn't really leave much for food.
-
Have they checked to make sure you're not too tight? Some people need to have it stretched.

I just switched to Premier Protein (chocolate). I like it. Tastes like Yoohoo and and has 30 g of protein. I was doing EAS chocolate fudge. Was good too but it only had 17 g protein. Tried some powder but didnt like it.
