I am 5 months post op and down 100lbs, 2 shirt sizes and 3 pant sizes. Needless to say the sleeve is awesome and one of the best choices I've made. Now I want to stop losing. I've gotten the "you look sick" a few too many times in the past week or so so I feel it's time to stop losing Any suggestions? My dr wants to hold off until I am 6 months but worry about losing any more

Quest (at GNC) or Premier Protein (BJs wholesale or Walmart) are both really good

Question for those who had lower start BMI/under 100 pounds to loose
micphd replied to Bluesea71's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Great question. I started the process at 290 and 5'8". I aim to only lose 85 and that's it. Since my surgery pre op diet starting 1/2 I've lost 63lbs. I have no loose or saggy skin and it all tightened nicely except for one small (and less than the palm of my hand) spot of "bunched" skin that isn't saggy. Just bunched together. That is under the back of my arm in the joint by my armpit. My stomach, legs, chest, neck, and as (minus the spot) all are fine and not loose jiggly skin Good luck to you! -
I was like you when I started. My wife, mother in law (only because she had to watch my kids all the time for appointments when the wife was working) and my sister knew. I told one coworker (we sit in the same area 40 hours a week so he would figure out something was up). The night before I told the remaining adult members of the family. I am now 3 weeks post op and 55 pounds down. It is almost impossible to hide the fact I did something. So I have slowly embraced it and have started telling folks if they ask. If they pay a compliment or just notice I lost weight then I won't tell them what I did. If they specifically ask (heavy people tend to do that) I will let them know Good luck!

I woke from surgery with a dry mouth (normal post op) and with moderate tenderness. By 10 that night I was done with any pain meds. Haven't had any issues since and been losing steadily since (until I hit the dreaded 3 week stall)

week 3 post surgery... stuck not losing! help
micphd replied to jdobrinska's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I was sleeved 1/14 and steadily lost until this week, the dreaded 3rd week stall. I went from my start weight if 287 to 234 and I've stopped. Hoping it's just my turn at the stall! -
Does anyone know why we dont sweat anymore? or it takes a long time to begin to sweat when working out ?
micphd replied to OHHLALA's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Were you a sweater to begin with? It's a snow storm where I live and could sweat before surgery standing outside. Now I am not sure if I will or not. I'm only a week post op. Hoping I slow down the sweat train a little -
I did this as well (or the generic version of them depending where I was shopping). My NUT and surgeon make it part of my daily meds. No problems taking them either

I am wondering who else was like this - I am 6 pays post op, feel great, down 35lbs from preop liquids diet, and now I can drink more than the 4-6 ounces an hour before feeling full. If I don't watch I can easily get 8-12 in before I feel full. Anyone else like this?
-
By one else have this problem - I had a catheter for 24 hours after surgery. Twice since it's been out as I finish peeing my urine is followed by air and urine bubbling or spitting out. Hopefully someone out there has been down this road

I was sleeved 1/14 and went this morning for the first time. I took 45mL of milk of magnesia before bed and that did the trick. I didn't use any pain meds since the first night of surgery so that probably helped too.

Well I'm on the losers bench now. Sleeved 1/14! Feel pretty good. Slept most of yesterday from pain meds and today just feel like I did too many sit ups. Waiting for leak test and the. I can finally have something to drink!

How long did it take Aetna? They told me 15 days

Tomorrow I hit the 90 day mark for my insurance requirement. I'm hoping to get approved. I meet the criteria except nothing was sustained for 2 years. sleep apnea a is less than a year, bmi over 35 is well over 20 years but nothing with it until recently. And bmi over 40 just this year. So I'm hoping I get approved. Fingers crossed!

I too am keeping it quiet. Not because I am ashamed or embarrassed but because I don't want to hear everyone's opinions. I also work in a field that there is a lot of "ribbing" from the guys so I am choosing to avoid this as it is a personal decsion. My wife, mother in law (so she can watch the kids), sister and my coworker that I sit in a car with 40+ hours a week with know. That's it.

First day with the nutrionist was today along with meeting the surgeon. They say I will be approved an covered by my insurance but no guarantee until I finish my 90 days with the NUT. So here is to wishful thinking!

I can't get a straight answer - I have fluctuated between 37-40.5 BMI. Currently undergoing testing for sleep apnea. Does anyone have aetna and clarify if they require your comorbidities to be documented for 2 years or just the weight? Meaning if I fluctuate over 2 years of having a bmi above 35 but just recently diagnosed with sleep apnea will I be denied?
-
Thank you for the replies. I know the requirements my insurance (aetna) requires. They just aren't clear on comorbidities And whether they need a 2 year history or not.

I am looking to schedule a consultation at Jefferson bariatrics. Wondering if anyone has used them or Dr Beekley and what your opinions are of them. How was their office staff with insurance approval and everything for the process Thanks!

I haven't set a date yet. Have an initial consultation with them next week. Just looking to see how people liked them and how their ease of service was with them
-
Awesome. Thank you. How were they with dealing with insurance and stuff like that?
