  1. That is my goal as well. Toning and firming up. I'm gonna get into that gym and turn it up. I heard drinking skim milk regularly (organic, of course) REALLY helps with loose skin.
  2. So I've been slipping lately... and by slipping I mean eating fast food, Cookies, chips.. basically everything that I'm not supposed to be eating. I haven't gained any weight (thankfully the small amount I did gain this week I lost again). These last 50 pounds are really important to me so I will be renewing my commitment to this journey in the new year. My 34th birthday is April 30th and I want to be at my goal weight by then. Also, incidentally I will be traveling to Ohio that week to be in a good friends wedding and I want to be at goal. My partners mother gave me this book for Christmas and it is fascinating! Tons of great info. I've dabbled in Paleo before but the whole concept of eating clean is something that I think I am going to adopt as much as possible in the new year. Is anyone else renewing their commitment to good health and weight loss in 2014?
  3. You're so supportive! Thank you everyone, I'll let you all know how the 21 Day Detox goes and how much weight is lost.
  4. Everytime I do Paleo I am one of the ones who eat dairy. Not strict Paleo be any means. But if I did the 21 Day Detox I would not eat dairy but just for those 21 days.
  5. So true. I'm FREEZING ALL THE TIME NOW! I moved to Georgia from Ohio 4 years ago. Now my heat is constantly set to 73+.
  6. I ate 4 chocolate chip Cookies yesterday. haha. And on Monday I had an entire bag of Doritos (it was the small bag from a vending machine). I'm only 3 1/2 months out so give it time folks. You'll be able to eat it all in no time. But that doesn't mean we should encourage it. Some people around these parts have serious health issues related to consuming bad foods and/or food addictions. These boards are a safe place. I always support balance as much as possible instead of elimination.

    Symptoms of something?

I used to get hiccups all the time when I got to full before I was sleeved! I never knew why. How interesting, thanks for that info.
  8. Actually your stomach will allow you to eat a bag of Doritos because it's a slider food. Or any chips for that matter. It does seem like you started this thread just to be confrontational. But hey, to each his own. Sounds like you have it all figured out. Happy New Year!

    Tried soft foods... Totally bummed

I've never heard that and I am 3 1/2 months out and eat beef and pork all the time. Well, I don't eat nearly as much beef as I used to but I do eat it with no issues.
  10. food addict? No I don't think a love of good food makes you an addict. I have to admit though, since we can eat so little now there is absolutely nothing wrong with appreciating good, wholesome, higher quality food. In fact, I encourage anyone who has this surgery to be a "foodie".
  11. I posted this in your other thread: Makes sense, around 5-6 weeks I started taking Prilosec and a good probiotic (http://www.amazon.co...0?ie=UTF8&psc=1). I was not enjoying eating at all. After I started taking these eating became much MUCH more enjoyable and that "sour" feeling went away after everything I ate.

    Food just isn't the same

Also I have found that the more processed a food is, the more my sleeve hates it. UNLESS it's loaded with sugar. Sugary drinks from Starbucks go right down. Milkshakes from any fast food place however hurt my stomach.

    Sensitive to smells?!?!

Uhg, I know how you feel. When I was newly post op I all of a sudden I coulnd't stomach or smell or be in the same room as broth. Any kind of broth. It made me want to puke.

    Food just isn't the same

That happened to me about 5-6 weeks out where eating just wasnt enjoyable. It passes. My 2 pound gain this weekend it a testiment to that. haha

    Story of my life post-op

Yup that's about right. We went out last night and I got a half rack of ribs. 2 was all I could eat. I took it home and have been munching on it little by little.
  17. Every single night I get dry mouth. Without fail.
  18. Hi Endless! You words are direct and accurate....i thought about backing out, but realized i don't want go back to the old way i have been managing my health.... I thought about the point you drove home....its irreversible.....that kinda thing scares me....but one of the other ladies on the board reminded me that its still my stomach and will continue to function as such....that was also helpful for me to wrap my head around this... So I'm 4 days post op, and feeling much, much better....i am working on getting my fluids in and completely focused on that head game....that is a challenge! You said it best! Appreciate your candor....all the folks on this board are amazing! Sheldon - 4 days post op... I'm glad you decided to do it. It takes courage to walk through the fire. Heads up.. The first month just drink as much as you can, whenever you can, dehydration slows healing. Also be prepared for 2 unfortunate first month nuances. #1. A brief but eye opening depression (usually includes some sort of reckoning, 'Why did I do this to myself?') It's normal. And #2. the third week stall.
  19. Maybe after a year or two. I know everyone is different and I don't know how much you have to lose or what you eat during the day but in the first month, my opinion is that's a little slow but it's not without victory still and it is something to be proud of. Some peoples bodies take a little more time releasing the fat. You're definitely not the only person here who struggles with slower weight loss. The good thing is, you're going in the right direction.

    My gastric sleeve

No not really. Only when I overeat.
  21. I do this all the time. When my eyes are about 5 times bigger than what my actual stomach can hold.
  22. I was sleeved 11/14 so I'm almost 5 weeks out... Doc hasn't cleared me for real coffee yet - I will ask on my next follow up on 12/30. All docs are different just like they are with their pre-ops. My local doc is very conservative...My surgeon was the polar opposite - he was like, "Introduce real food as soon as you can!" I have decided if I'm going to have decaf, that I will allow myself some honey in it...I put a couple of tablespoons of fat-free cream or coconut creamer, 1 teaspoon of honey and a little splenda (not even a whole packet). It's pretty good. Real food is so important! I cook Paleo whenever possible with as little ingredients as I can. I am about 13-14 weeks out now and have been drinking real coffee for about a month and a half now. It keeps things... uhhh... 'moving' inside and I like the caffeine boost. Plus I heard coffee (in moderation) was healthy for you so I only drink 1 cup in the morning.

    Diet Coke Addiction

You probably will. I found, after years of being a Diet Coke drinker that the aspartame in the Diet Coke was causing neurological issues (muscle twitches, weakness.. etc..) and I had to quit. It was the worst week EVER. Worse than when I quit smoking. But I did it and haven't had a Diet Coke in almost 3 years. Diet Coke is very very bad for you. Worse than regular coke (I think) because of the artificial sweetener. Just Google Aspartame and see the dangers, they are very real and shouldn't be ignored.
  24. Besides walking you shouldn't work out for at least a month. My surgeon cleared me after 5 weeks but I still haven't worked out at all because I'm lazy. lol
