  1. I love coconut Water and it turns out that it's pretty good for you. I have surgery in a week and I've been gathering the stuff and want to drink coconut water while I am recovering. For those who have gone through this already, do you think that would be okay?
  2. When you have a ton of weight to lose there is fat inside of your body that surrounds your organs. You're losing fat there are well and it wont be all that noticable (but much easier on your insides!) For most people who are large I hear the threshold of when people start noticing you're losing weight is around 65-75 pounds.
  3. Oh I will, I just want to drink pure coconut water. No additives.
  4. My surgery is a week from today and I woke up today with some congestion and I was like "OH HECK NAW" and over dosed myself with Vitamins. I do feel better now but will keep an eye on anything developing. By the way, for anyone who wants to know.. the berry flavor Bariatric Choice vitamins are gross.
  5. Or make them with almond milk?
  6. I've been doing the same thing! Eating everything in sight.
  7. Wow you've been through so much and I'm so sorry you had to endure all of that. If you feed a million people coconut, a small handful of those people will have extreme adverse responses to the coconut. And a smaller percent will die. It's the same for surgical procedures or anything for that matter... Nuts, drugs (the street kind), infections etc... Thank you for sharing your story. It rounds out a part of this process many of us don't expect or see.

    Diet Soda

As I said, I know plenty of folks who drink diet soda (in moderation) and their sleeve works just fine. But like miss meow said, everything in moderation. Personally it's the aspartame that scares me more than my sleeve stretching out.

    Diet Soda

I know a bunch of folks who drink diet soda after the sleeve. Personal preference I suppose.
  10. You think?! lol Being lactose intolerant means all lactose.

    Quitting smoking

THANK YOU FOR SAYING THAT OUT LOUD. The vapor is just replacing one addiction for the same addiction (but maybe just slightly healthier) however, smokers use the vape as a crutch for years after "quitting smoking" and its just not. Its an excuse to keep consuming nicotine.

    Crappy A#% Friends

I have a good friend who says stuff without thinking about it like "just try diet and excersize" and he's said this about 3-4 times now. The issue is, he's fat too but I'm a little fatter and I can really sense his jealousy even though he would never say he was jealous. I kind of know better. I've done diet and excersize and they DO WORK for me. Maintaining diet is the reason I looked into this surgical tool. I feel like I've been on the diet and excersize elevator for the last 20 years. I needed to do something about it because I'm the biggest I've ever been now and I'm not getting any younger.
  13. You're doing wonderful and you look great. The skin is not really that noticable (in this pic).

    ecigarette and sleeve

Okay I am going to toss my opinion about the ecig out there. It's just another way to stay addicted to nicotine. I was a smoker for 10+ years, a pack a day sometimes more. I quit cold turkey in January of this year. Its only bad if you let it be. If you're serious about your health then suck it up and quit. Most surgeons will refuse to do the surgery if nicotine is even found in your body. You might think you're suffering now but hang in there. It's temporary.

Bit of a rant: Pissed off - upset - depressed

You look great man. Where the hell did she get "little old man"? Hurtful and totally unessessary. You really should be proud of yourself.
  16. Oh and they're both gross but the cherry flavor is lightyears better than lemon lime.
  17. Two bottles?! That stuff is VERY powerful. I personally wouldnt trust 2 bottles, especially since you cannot have any water from 12am forward on your surgery day. You'll be in the bathroom all night and the entire next day and could dehydrate. Not kidding. That stuff works REALLY well. 1 bottle will clean you out.

    Any vegetarian sleevers?

*boost* I am very interested in vegetarian recipies in the pureed and soft food stage. I have this strange gravitation towards it (vegetarianism) for some reason.
  19. We're sleeve twins. My surgery is same day but at 2:00 pm. Eastern time.
  20. Anyone getting sleeved on Sept 10th in Atlanta Georgia by Dr Scott Steinberg?

    I told my mom :/

I initially wasnt going to tell my mother till after the surgery but I figured if anything happened she would be left in the dark and that's just not fair. So I told her last week. She was concerned but said she trusted I researched this to be the best decision for me and asked who my surgeon was (presumably so she could Google him) and said she is happy for me (in her own way). She could have told me otherwise but honestly, I'm a grown up and her opinion is taken into account but certainly not law of the land in my life.
  22. Or maybe just eat slowely till you're satisfied/full and let your sleeve do that talking for you. No one will notice and you can go about your life.
  23. Oh lord, THANKS now that's one more thing I am thinking about 16 days before surgery. lol
  24. Well it's not really a "situation" but we're making it an interesting competition. See, I weigh 355 at 6'2 and he's about 315 at 6'3. So theres a good 40 pounds difference. The goal is for me not to pass him in weight. I am getting sleeved in 19 days so Saturday is the official start date. Even though I do not have to go on a pre-op diet I am because I want to be in optimal health for the surgery and recovery. (ssshhhhh, I probably WILL pass him because I'm getting surgically altered but I wanted something to help keep him motivated and interested in doing this journey with me and thankfully he is totally on board.) This is not only my journey but his as well because we both have some nutritional changes we need to make and now, thankfully my ability to binge and throw not only me but him off course will be altered). We've been together for 4 years so far but I really want another 50 at least so we need to get right on this, the sooner the better. Anyone else have partners who have been on this journey with you? Alan
