After three days I'm still ticked at my husband!

That's okay, my significant other ignored my birthday. Just ignored it. Wished me a happy birthday in the morning, I was out of state and traveled home that day to spend the evening and nothing. Not a card, not a gift, not anything. 3 days later I brought it up because it was starting to bug me at that point. The birthday was made up to me later AFTER I said something about it and a year later I'm still a little salty about it every time I think about it for too long. We're all inherently flawed.
  2. Time for an update... I was sleeved Sept 10th and to date I have lost 115 pounds.
  3. Okay so I've been cooking a lot more lately and I have found that when I eat clean (meaning as little preservatives, gluten and processed crap) I tend to lose more weight quicker, feel better and actually get adequate amounts of nutrition. I made this dinner the other night and let me tell you, it was delicious. Absolutely great Almond Crusted Tilapia fried in Coconut Oil and Creamy Parmesan Spinach. Healthy fats, good Protein and rich greens. Ingredients: Tilapia (I like to go for wild caught instead of farmed) 2 TbleSP Coconut Oil Salt, Pepper, Onion powder, Garlic (to taste) Almond Flour 1 package Organic spinach (It doesn't have to be organic). 3 tablespoons cream cheese 2-3 tablespoons parm cheese Melt your coconut oil in pan. Coat the Tilapia with your seasoning and each side dusted with almond flour. Place in pan for 2-3 minutes on each side letting it cook all the way through. Remove all the Water out of the spinach and warm it up on stove, gradually stirring in the cream cheese and parm cheese. Season with salt and pepper to taste. So simple and loaded with healthy fats, great source of protein and dark leafy veggies. I was able to eat half of the tilapia piece and almost half of the spinach. It was delicious. ENJOY!
  4. Thanks guys, there is all sorts of interesting ways we can cook fish. I'm actually just starting to get into cooking fish and all the various ways.
  5. The weight is coming off a little slower now because I have to be just a little more dilligent in what I eat. But I am doing it. Only 17 more pounds to goal. What a journey this has been.

    How long to "feel" better

I was 6'2 and 360 pounds. My knees hurt and I had some back issues. The good thing about your body is that once the weight starts coming off your body starts to heal up very quickly. The inflammation that caused these kinds of aches and pains is reduced. My snoring was reduced to nothing within 2 months so I was sleeping better and because I was sleeping better I didn't feel the need to carb load and that helped a lot. I lost weight fast and once the pain does subside and you're actually able to move you wont even realize it, you'll just wake up one day and feel good. It's a great feeling to know you did the right thing for yourself.
  7. Personally, I would avoid the Lap Band. It seems to (just my perception) not be as effective and a lot of people (even on these forums) hate their decision to get the Lap Band and do end up reversing the procedure and going ahead with the Sleeve or the Bypass. Good luck in your decision. I got the sleeve and honestly it was the best decision for me. I have a friend who has the bypass and her dumping syndrome scares me a little bit. Plus I've lost more weight than her in the first 6 months then it took her a year to lose and she had more weight than me to lose overall. But I also remember my surgeon telling me that if a patient has diabetes or sugar issues they would always recommend the bypass because of the dumping syndrome, and some patients actually like that reassurance. Whatever you choose, we'll support you.
  8. Thank you so much everyone. I think my point of posting this is because I see a lot of people (especially overweight) people who put everyone and everything in their lives first first first. Whether it's their kids or spouse or family or work. We need to take some time, energy and even some money (if you can) to treat and be good to yourself. Because if you wont, who will?
  9. Whoa! Whooshed right past 250 last night. I had stalled for so long and now in the last couple of weeks I've lost over 10 pounds. My body is still very sore from working out but I am still going out on a long hike today through the North Georgia Mountains.

Thanks everyone. Training for this 10k has really motivated me to finish this last stretch out strong. I have about 19 more pounds till I reach goal weight.

    My Trainer sees a difference

YYYAAAYYYYY!!! Congrats. You'll have that toned booty in no time.
  12. I have friends who are very supportive and friends who are not at all. Ultimately, it doesn't matter in the end. Your happiness should not be determined by their compliments. I learned that the hard way.

    Got my lapband removed

I haven't had either surgery, so I'm not expert, but based on my research: (1) The sleeve is not malabsorptive, whereas the bypass is. This means you'll run less risk of bone problems, Vitamin deficiencies, and probably not have to be on diligent consumption of Vitamins and supplements. (2) The sleeve seems to have a lower complication rate than the bypass and be simpler. (3) The bypass has a slightly higher average of weight loss. However, from what I've seen, the optimal candidate for the bypass is someone who is morbidly obese (by obese standards), and has let their weight spiral up to 500 or so, where they are having difficulty even ambulating and need a drastic intervention. My advice? Get the sleeve. I couldn't have said this better myself. Also with the sleeve you run less of a risk of leaks (according to my surgeon) and I was also told that they will recommend the bypass to patients who have more than 150 pounds to lose and that have diabetes and/or a sugar addiction because dumping will keep you in check. I had the sleeve done 6 months ago and I've only felt weird after eating once and it was something I shouldn't have eaten anyways (a Chick Fil a milkshake).

    Buyers Remorse!

Allow yourself to grieve the person you used to be. That first month really sucks but once you make it through and reintroduce foods into your diet you will take on a totally new food identity. That part is fun and makes this journey worth it.

    Buyers Remorse!

    It gets easier.
  16. I now am no longer pre diabetic and my sleep quality has improved so much that I don't even snore anymore. I have absolutely no more knee pain anymore and my fitness level has doubled. Huge victories.
  17. The weather was nice enough to hike yesterday. It was amazing outside, hiking up the side if that mountain. I got to the top, made a renewed commitment to my health and hiked the whole thing again. I wasn't tired or worn out... I was healing and for that I am grateful.

Awesome! I love hiking. And so do my dogs. I can't wait for some warmer weather. There are some good small hiking spots around the city, but the good ones require about a 30 minute travel.

I am fortunate enough to have a ton of hiking places in Atlanta. It warmed up finally to about 65 degrees, perfect hiking weather.

  18. 6 months in and 105 pounds down. At 255 pounds I am now officially the smallest I have ever been in my entire adult life and I'm 34. I think maybe I was at 255 when I was 15 but only very briefly. That's pretty awesome.

    Biggest loser winner

The Biggest Loser has always been about showing us how to find balance and live healthy. I was so disappointment in how emaciated all three of the finalists were, especially Racheal. For someone to have been trained by some of the greatest fitness instructors in the world she lacked muscle definition and her skin was practically falling off her. She looked like she had been on a Water fast since she came home from the ranch. I think that if this is the outcome they're going to support on that show I am done. I hate how canned and scripted that show has gotten anyways. Jillian sounds as if she's just repeating a bunch of sound bites, pre-thought out inspirational quotes for the camera. It all seems so... unauthentic these days.

    Tasting Room - Protein Drinks

Try this: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00AZVQI46/ref=oh_details_o05_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 It's a plant based Protein drink that is flavored with Stevia. I've tried it a few times and I don't hate it.
  24. I used to wear a size 50 pants and now, as of yesterday I am in a size 38.
  25. That's absolutely ridiculous! That many pills is not living, it's existing. I agree with what the above poster said about your doctors being drug pushers. If I were you I would get another opinion, unless you really like taking this many pills. I couldn't imagine what that many pills do to your wallet every month. Not to mention your body.
