    chips

Everything in moderation. Someone posted above that these look like slider foods so be careful, maybe partition a small amount to have every once in a while, work them into your daily calorie allowance.

Congratulations for contributing absolutely nothing of value to this conversation.

    First time eating

I am two weeks out and it still feels a little weird when I put stuff in there.
  4. I never thought about the kids portions! Great idea! I am still only 2 weeks out from surgery so I can't eat it right now but I am always on the lookout for new and innovative ways to eat. Jimmy Johns has the unwich. If you have a Jimmy Johns in your area you can order a sandwich and it comes wrapped in lettuce instead of bread. I wonder if people would be interested in that.

    Insurance Approval!

Awesome. I have Anthem BC/BS and they didn't take much time to approve me as well. I had surgery on 9/10. Please just make sure that this is definitely what you want to do. It's tough.
  6. This is very true. I was feeling sorry for myself yesterday. I woke up today 2 pounds lighter and it just reinforces my commitment to this. Everything will come in time. This is the new me and if I like it or not I got this surgery to enforce the new me from slipping back in to my old ways. The sleeve is doing its job.
  7. Okay, that literally made me laugh out loud. I almost spit up my muscle milk I am drinking. LOL!
  8. Weird. I have had horrible reflux most of my life and nothing came up on the upper GI.
  9. I have a feeling I am going to be like this. I've been able, with the exception of the smell of broth, been able to handle any food thrown at me. I havent thrown up at all (yet) but I know what my new tummy likes and doesn't like (example: took a bite of pureed chili and instantly knew that it wasnt for me because of the spice.) I see a lot of folks who have issues months out from surgery holding food down and still not able to eat specific things. What I want to know is, I started soft/pureed foods today and I still feel things touch my stomach after I eat them and I can tell right away if I dig it or not. There still seems to be a little bit of gas, meaning that when I swallow and put stuff in, gas still comes to the surface as if the food or liquid I just ate forced it up. Does that go away? Also, does the eating insecurity go away? Meaning, before the sleeve I never thought much about my stomach. I just ate to eat. Now I am constantly gauging my stomach to see how it feels after I take a bite. Does that stomach insecurity go away eventally? Thank for the input.
  10. Thanks for responding guys and letting me know what you can have. I am going through some mental hurdles right now trying to decide if this decision was the best decision of my life or the absolute worst. It does seem to get easier daily though. This is where the rubber meets the road though with me. I am 2 weeks and 1 day out. By now, if I were on a diet and not sleeved it would have flown out the window by now and I'd have a heap of McDonalds sitting in front of me as I typed this. But I can't now, this is my path. In a way I am mourning my old self but on the flipside to that coin, that person was literally killing me. So thank you for sharing, it does get better.
  11. I'm just using that as an example. I don't want to never have bread again in my life. For me I would have eaten a 12 inch sub, double meat with a large coke and a bag of chips easily. Now I value simplicity and a simple half a grilled cheese will do.. lol but in moderation, not multiple times a week. Some people get so weird on these forums when you talk about carbs. I feel like I've spent a couple of lifetimes on low carb diets. Now I crave moderation and balance.

    Liquids day 1 sucks

I didn't have to do one either. And trust, if you can't handle liquids now you should probably reconsider this whole thing because you're going to be the mayor of liquid city for the next month. And it sucks every single day.
  13. My nutritionist approved me today for eating soft/pureed foods and I just had my first egg. My tummy feels.... interesting.... having some food in it. Clearly I have some healing left but I am on the right track.
  14. Try this link: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/tools/bmr-calculator It will tell you what your Basil Metabolic Rate (BMR) is and you can figure out how many calories you need daily to lose weight.
  15. Well, if it's any consolation today marks 2 weeks that I've been on a liquid diet and have protain shakes every single day. I've lost 31 pounds.

    The frustration of it all

Hang in there man, things will get better. Protein is important but not everything. I put hydration above protein. I once knew a girl who went 90 days drinking ONLY Water. Yeah she did get super skinny but her body bounced right back just fine so I don't stress it if I have a day with lower protein. Today my partner and I went to Jasons Deli because I was hungry (I am 12 days post op) and I had them give me a bowl of broccoli chedder (with most of the broccoli taken out). I ate about 6-7 bites and gave the rest away. I was satisfied. I did some shopping and came home and had a Protein shake. Don't let this get to you. It's a change and if you're anything like me CHANGE SUCKS but we can adapt. This is all about being able to adapt.

    Bacon

    mmmm bacon. I miss bacon.
  18. Right now I am drinking a Unjury chocolate splendor protein shake with a few drops of the Cherry extract. Tastes like chocolate covered cherries.
  19. Post op day 5. The muscle group under the largest incision is still in a ton of pain when I walk. Is this normal? I thought by now it would go away but it's not and even the liquid pain meds don't calm it down. Anyone else have this issue post op?
  20. oops... *surgery related So today I am up and about and I notice a small pain under my left arm, on my chest/breast area. It hurts when I reach forward and bend over a bit. Like WHOA hurt... a sharp shooting/burning pain and if I held it in with my right hand it doesnt hurt. When I sit down, nothing ... its when I reach out with my left hand and bend over just a bit. There is nothing on the surface of the skin, it's under the skin (possibly muscular) and I am not sure if this has anything to do with my surgery. I am 11 days post op. Just just happened suddenly today. Any idea's?
  21. It took Anthem BC/BS about a week to approve me.
  22. Okay so I am 9 days out from surgery and I've gone from Clear liquids a couple of days ago to full liquids last Tuesday and today I decided to try some fat free cottage cheese. It's delicious and just what I needed mentally and I chewed it up to a very liquid consistancy and it went down just fine and it's hanging out in there just fine. Should I stop? Do I need to do some pennants to the weight loss surgery Gods? Is 9 days too early for cottage cheese?
