Getting Sleeve on Monday and already struggling with the liquid diet prior to op!
endless80 replied to lesflo805's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wouldn't it be horrible if your doctor fired that first round of staples into your stomach and a small piece of pizza fell out? You're on this liquid diet so your surgery goes on without any self imposed complications. That's what I had to keep telling myself. And use this time to get in as much liquid as possible because in 2 days you're going to be struggling. Set yourself up to win at this now. The liquid diet is going to be your friend for a few weeks. I am on day 18 and I am OVER IT but I also have made myself understand how necessary it is to this whole process. Respect that process. Liquids! You got this. -
Day 1 of my liquid diet and I'm miserable! LOL

Bottoms up. You've got a long liquid road ahead of you. -
Horrible Heartburn, what do you take OTC?
endless80 replied to endless80's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have a friend who used to take Tums daily, multiple times a day. He ended up in the hospital and his kidneys were shutting down because the chalky buildup. He almost died. Ever since then I have been weary of taking too many Tums. -

This thread is making me hungry. I start soft foods next Tuesday and I cannot wait for some tuna. -

Got My Surgery Date: 10/22/13 (Now I'm shaking in my boots!)
endless80 replied to Trebor's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doctor didn't put a catheter in me. I was worried they would but they just didn't. Actually, while you're in the hospital and on meds the pain isn't that bad. It's when they take you off the morphine and send you home that hell week (and yes, it is called hell week) starts. But you'll get through it. You just have to learn to adapt to the new normal in your life. -
Educated people who overuse the word 'actually' in presentations really bother me. Informative video though. Interesting to know what's inside of me.

I know most people or carb crazy but will I ever be able to eat a sandwich again?
endless80 replied to endless80's topic in Food and Nutrition
That sounds amazing. I am still on liquids week 3 so any mention of bacon is like food porn to me at this point. lol -

I was being silly. But some folks in other threads I've read seem to be anti carb. I get where that works for them but everyone is different and I wanted to avoid any conflicting interests because bread seems to be a hot topic. -

I've tried their paleo bread and it was $10 for a package of gritty nastiness. -
I did a bad bad thing.

There are a lot of judgmental, miserable people on this board. I say miserable not because I know them personally but because sometimes their posts seem to reek of unhelpful, almost shameful contempt for people who don't follow the same path they choose. It's sad. -
How many oz does our stomach hold?
endless80 replied to heint1am's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
From what I understand liquid pretty much just flows right through our sleeve. Some people have no issue whatsoever getting 64+ ounces down. I am over 2 weeks out and can drink no problem now. -
I just chew normally. lol

Eatting to fast
endless80 replied to DanielleSleeve's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I habitually eat too fast. It doesn't hurt going down but I do tend to overeat a little bit. -
I think we do as well. I am on day 18 (2 of those days pre surgery) and I am down 34 pounds now.

My surgery was today 9/25/13
endless80 replied to RickMG's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hey Rick, I'm on day 15 now. You're not alone here... we've all been through it or will go through it soon enough. Get ready, once you're off morphine your largest incision site will start to hurt underneath in the muscle wall. For me that lasted about 6-8 days after surgery but for some it lasts longer. You're going to start shrinking soon but it's a struggle at first. Be prepared to hate and then love your decision and then hate it again only to come around and hopefully love it. -
I'm 15 days out and I don't feel quite normal yet. Your journey is juuuuust beginning. Hell week has begun. Just hang in there.

Apples become delicious morsels of crunchy goodness in the dehydrator. I had a friend who would dehydrate all kinds of stuff including fish. Their house would smell horrible for a day but when it was done it was delicious and healthy.

I'll pass on your backrub, thanks. Being an jerk to people seeking advice is not contributing to anything but YOUR ego. Trust me, I get it. I too get frustrated with people and their logic sometimes. Like the person who went to Taco Bell a week after surgery and "nibbled" on a corn chip. I was like "seriously?" but I'm not going to run them through the coals over it. It's their stomach and their lives and ultimately their demons they have to answer to. Our annoyance at them has nothing to do with them nor does it serve anyone to make them feel like an idiot or as someone who struggles any less than we ALL do.
