  1. I don't remember anything. They wheeled me into the operating room (which was a very cold and sterile room, not at all like the nice pretty rooms they operate on in Greys Anatomy). The anesthesiologist told me to put my left arm out and then my right.. ..out like a light.. Woke up in recovery, I remember not being the only one there and telling the nurse in a very groggy, very matter of fact "PAIN, do something about this!" and she jumped right up and started pumping me full of morphine (which was my best friend for those two days) and that was that. If I said "Nauseous!" she pumped more meds into me. Thats ALL I remember from the recovery room. Next thing I knew I woke up in my hospital room.
  2. Holy crap I am losing weight quickly. I lost 2 pounds since yesterday and 2 pounds the day before. Here's the kicker, I'm eating! I ate Chinese food yesterday and I still lost. I am beginning to really like my sleeve.

    Smokers

Smoking is a waste. If you're getting this surgery to be serious about your health and get on the right track than smoking nicotine does you no favors. It never did and never will. It's tough to quit. I quit cold turkey in January of this year from being a pack a day smoker for 12 years.

    Nicotine, can't eat or drink

It could possibly be doing this to you but nobody will really know. I bet if you told your doctor he would blame nicotine. It's a poison that slows down healing.

3 days after surgery and im hungry...

It happens. Some people feel hunger and some don't. I am one of those who did feel it. Just stay focused and sip sip sip. Hydration is so important right now.
  7. Down 50 pounds today in 5 weeks, 5 days.

  8. Yesterday I had some chicken wings from Locos. They were roasted. I could only have 4 and even that took me an hour. lol
  9. Week 5 has been the best one yet! I am able to eat all kinds of foods now, still slowly but it's made a huge difference.

  10. You know everyone says no but honestly, just don't swallow it. Surgeons don't want you to chew because you might swallow and it could be problematic.
  11. I am almost 5 weeks out and I am just starting to acclimate more normal foods into my diet. Still soft foods..... cheese, thin deli meats, some chicken. Trying to get more Protein in with the food that I eat rather than rely on shakes. The issue is, I chew and chew and chew and pretty much decimate the food I eat before I swallow but I still feel the food enter my stomach. It doesn't "hurt" when food goes in there but I am well aware that my stomach is taking in food and sometimes it sits weird for a moment and also when I am full that feeling is starting to feel like a normal "full" feeling I would have had before the surgery. I guess my question is, will my new stomach ever be like my old stomach in the ways where I can just eat and not think about it? I know I had surgery 5 weeks ago, I just want to know if that weird "food is now in my stomach" feeling goes away.
  12. I've decided that I am no longer eating mammals (cows, pigs... etc..). So your chicken and seafood recipies are really going to be helpful to me. I had my first bit of chicken today and it not only tasted great but went down great as well. Thank you for this contribution.
  13. Gamergirl, you're amazing. These look delicious.
  14. What have you tried so far and what does your stomach like best. I am 4 weeks out and eating soft foods but I kind of want some chicken.

    Oh, do please shut up!

For some reason going into week 4 I am beginning to realize that this is where the rubber truly meets the road for me. I have got to find a new food identity right now. I start work again tomorrow after being off for a month. Real life is starting again soon and I better figure it out.

    Oh, do please shut up!

Immensely different from week to week.

    Oh, do please shut up!

I am struggling with this right now, hard core.

    Oh, do please shut up!

Its truth. I always tell people to really think about if they want this because let me tell you... a small part of me feels like I've made a huge mistake. Pre Ops don't quite understand the psychological impact of this dramatic change. It messes with your head and while you start to shrink it will pull out the worst in you eventually (hopefully) getting to the best of you. I refuse to sugar coat this because I think about it every.single.day.
  19. I wouldn't know, restaurants are somewhat banned in my household right now.
  20. I've always had pretty bad heartburn. After the sleeve, it got worse.
  21. 11 weeks should be perfect actually. Don't stress it.
