  1. I was eating brocolli cheese soup 2-3 weeks out at Jasons Deli. Shrimp, fish, chicken, anything you can chew up easily and swallow really.

    Froyo?

Oh sorry, surgery on 10/23? I don't recommend it yet. Sugar slows down healing.

    Alcohol

Maybe break the "mold" of 21 year olds and not drink? lol

Green Drinks-How Long Did You Wait?

You should have been able to drink green drinks since you we're cleared for full liquids. Day 3-4 after surgery.

Anyone Afraid of Telling Others about WLS?

At first I wanted to keep it a secret but in all honesty, it's almost next to impossible to keep it a secret from everyone. Especially if you eat with them, they will be like 'whats up?' because you eat so little. I realized shortly after having the surgery that I just needed to own it. And I did. I decided to make drastic changes in my life and you are too. Drastic changes in your life rarely ever come without a certain degree of casualties and those two obese girls who no longer talk to you are yours. I strive to live as transparent a life as I can. I don't like secrets, especially ones that could potentially save someones life down the line. I am very honest about this surgery to folks when I talk about it but it comes from a place of passion and respect for the journey than shame. People have been more supportive than I could have imagined, especially because they can see with their own two eyes that it's working.

    NSV- I can run!

Amazing! I was on my walk today and I was able to sprint up 4 flights of stairs and I was only a little winded when I got to the top. 6 weeks ago that would have been almost impossible.
  8. This is where my surgeon removed mine.
  9. It took me between week 4-6 to start truely feeling human again.
  10. If you're week 5 and beyond and you're having issues with keeping food in comfortably, try Prilosec. It worked wonders for me.

  11. You look beautiful in both pictures but you look healthy and beautiful now. Congrats!

    Anyone regret WLS and why?

I think what you feel is a wildly undiscussed commonality with some sleeve patients. It's an effective surgery but it is not for everyone. That's why when I talk to people who want this surgery, I really tell them to think seriously about what they're doing.

    Anyone regret WLS and why?

It's amazing how much better I feel while I eat. For a minute there before I started taking it I literally thought to myself "all enjoyment of eating has pretty much vanished". Now it's back and I feel renewed. I was depressed for a few weeks about it, wondering why I did this to myself. It sucks to be tethered to a drug forever but I'll take it. Prilosec is one of the most effective, safe drugs out there. Especially when you take it with a probiotic since PPI's usually disrupt your good bacteria in your stomach.

    Anyone regret WLS and why?

I am on my 6th week and let me tell you, I felt EXACTLY the same way you do. When I ate something I felt it enter my stomach and it made me uncomfortable and I got a little stomach ache. 2 days ago I started taking Prilosec in the morning. NIGHT AND DAY DIFFERENCE! I can eat without feeling weird anymore. It was the acid causing most of the uncomfortableness. Try it. $9.99 at Walmart or Target for a 14 day regimen but I am not stopping.

    food

This was my guidlines, though all of them differ slightly from one doc to another but this is what worked the best for me. Day 0-3 after surgery is Clear Liquids. Day 4- Week 3 - full liquids. Week 3 - some soft foods can be introduced (pureed stage) Week 4 - full soft foods faze. Week 5 - start varying your diet to see what you're comfortable with eating. Some people can start doing soft meats at this point, some can't. Don't push it, listen to your stomach. Week 6 - eat whatever you want on whatever plan you decide. Most people will keep at lower carb stuff (no breads, rice, Pasta or anything that can expand in your stomach.) If you're a man, 60-80 grams of Protein daily. If you're a female betwen 40-60 grams. Man or woman = at least 64 oz of Water daily on all of your stages.

    Rotten breath?

How long is this supposed to last? I've become increasingly self conscious because of it.

    post op diet

lol by all means please follow your doctors advise. I was shocked because a lot of times I will see someone post that their doctor cleared them for regular foods at 3 weeks post op and I think that is extreme. Its nice to see doctors invested to give you a plan so that you're assured success. A lot of doctors, including my own did not do that and I kind of wish they did. Good luck!

You have the most extreme post op diet I've ever seen anyone on these boards have.

    Pre-Surgery And A Young Sleever!

Yes, the urges to overeat do not go away. My sleeve stops me around bite 5-6 and I always want to eat more but I don't because I made a commitment to my sleeve. Unfortunately they only do surgery on your stomach, not your mind.

    Rotten breath?

I have the same problem. Two main reasons are dehydration and ketosis if you're not eating much carbs. I carry Altoids with me everywhere I go.

what and how much to eat?

Oh and the chips? Week 5-6.
  22. endless80

what and how much to eat?

Lots of eggs, tuna, mashed sweet potatoes, refried beans covered with cheese, cottage cheese with a drizzle of honey and cinnamon, string cheese, blue bell cheese rounds, hummus, chicken salad...

    family support

My partner is overweight as well and he has, for the most part, started eating better and losing weight with me. Yesterday, I checked the bank account and he totally pigged out at a local Gyro place on the fly. I was kind of miffed about it but hey, he didn't have this surgery. I did. His journey is not mine and though I cannot force him, I can influence what comes into our house food wise and he respects that. I like to think that my partner and I are two individual pillars and the relationship is the Colosseum that we're both holding up, together. I don't feel the need to control him into doing what I do and vice versa. However, he knows better than to bring McDonalds into this house. lol

    Soft gels?

I am not sure where these doctors are getting this info. The sleeve is not a procedure where you should have any absorption issues, unlike the RNY. If you swallow a fish oil pill and 1/2 hour later you taste fish oil burps, your body is absorbing it. lol
