  1. I didn't have to do a diet before my surgery at all, just 2 days before surgery I had to only drink liquids. PreOp diets... I GET that they're "supposed" to do something important in theory but I don't buy them really. Everyone I know cheated and everyone I know still got the sleeve and lost a ton of weight. lol

    Heartburn...?

I have awful heartburn as well. I have had it before and after the surgery. In the last 2 weeks I've started taking Prilosec once a day (just 1 pill) and also one of these Probiotics (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005P0NYFI/ref=oh_details_o02_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) and there is a world of difference. These probiotics are inexpensive and they WORK. I've been heartburn free for 2 weeks now.

    CHEAP SF Torani Syrup!

    Thanks! I'll check it out.
  4. BOO! Due to the overwhelming response for samples they discontinued that. I'll make the trip to GNC this week and pick some up.
  5. I just went to two grocery stores and all I could find was the Pure Protein Bars. I got the peanut butter and chocolate and could only eat 1 bite. There was no way I could eat that whole thing. Not because of the sleeve but because it didn't taste that great. I'm glad you like it. I'll send you the remaining ones. LOL!
  6. How funny I went to Amazon and typed "All natural Protein bars" and Quest Bars came up first and look the best. lol QUEST it is. I'll give them a try.
  7. I am starting to get squishy myself. I need to get my butt into the gym.
  8. Have you thought about the diet? I know that when I go into some extream ketosis I get *very* irritable and crabby.
  9. I feel like my body is starting to get "squishy" (if that makes sense). I need to get my ass into the gym to minimize this as much as possible.

  11. Hey guys, I got sleeved September 10th by Dr. Scott Steinberg here in Atlanta Georgia. HW 365 Pre-op weight 360 CW 299 Down: 61 pounds Got under 300 today. In my entire adult life I've only been below 300 twice. This is pretty awesome for me. All of you guys are doing amazing. Keep up the good work. Hey, since were all around 8 weeks now did any of you notice that you're able to start eating more? A couple days ago I just noticed that I was able to eat more food.
  12. The weirdest thing happened recently. In the last 2 days I've noticed a sudden ability to eat more food.

  13. I am finally under 300 pounds! In my entire adult life (15 years) this has happened three times, including now. I wil NEVER go back!!

    Tummy troubles.

Yes this is very normal. I had the bubble guts for a month out and even now when I eat something it bubbles a little but I don't notice it as much. It does get much much easier from day to day and week to week.
  15. I had GERD before the surgery and it was pretty bad after the surgery. After 4-5 weeks I started taking Prilosec and a probiotic and it is no longer an issue.

    stomach healed?

This is one of those issues you wont get a consistent answer. I've heard 4 weeks, 6-7 weeks, 3 months, 6 months... I don't think anyone really knows.

I'm a food rebel... you? (rant)

I limit myself but follow no specific diet. Tonight I had 1 small slice of pizza at the movie theater. Then for dinner I had salad and a very small turkey patty without the bread. So it all makes up for itself in the end. You can eat so little right now and balance is key BUT if you don't eat with intention and purpose than eventually you're gonna reverse the good work you've done and wonder why you're not losing weight.

    What are sliders?

Slider foods are very real for sleeve patients. I do not dump personally but Laura is right, there are some folks on here with the sleeve that do dump and I feel bad for them. I didn't like the idea of malabsorption and dumping so I choose the sleeve (because dumping is far less common) but from my own experience slider foods are very real and need to be heeded by anyone who has obesity surgery.
  20. Hopefully I finally broke this stall last night. I am officially down to 300 pounds! Lets keep trudging forward.

  21. gross. I think I'm gonna use that block feature for the first time. Nobody needs this negative crap.
  22. Oh I am most definitely going to get some tattoo's!
  23. I am having a very hard time imagining it as well which I honestly think will begin to hinder me after a while so I am going to have to change how I think. I have only 75 more pounds to lose and I am at the point right now where eating has become easy so some more thought, time and energy are going to need to go into my success. Because at the end of the day, only we are responsible for our own change.
  24. It's been twinging a little but today, my God these are so itchy and I cant touch them... I was not stapled shut, I have the liquid stitches so I can't touch them because of their covering and the itching is killing me. How long does this last? 6 days post op.

What Spiritual Books Have Helped You?

A Course in Weight Loss: 21 Spiritual Lessons for Surrendering Your Weight Forever by Marianne Williamson. She really dives a lot into the psychology of why we hold onto weight and puts it into a real healing perspective from a spiritual (meaning non religious) point of view.
