  1. My surgery got approved last Thursday (I called them) ..I called my drs office & they told me they haven't heard anything & WILL CALL ME...when they do....I got a letter in the mail from my insurance co saying everything was approved....Im a wreck waiting .....everything is done...I just need to see the surgeon 1 more time to get a date..thats it....UGGGG...

  2. I had to quit smoking after 43 years!! (3 months ago) I'm looking to get healthy....I got tested for both already & was told I'll be tested again right before surgery & they will send me home if anything positive comes up..It was either be over-weight, smoke & die or..... be skinny, clean & healthy..at my age I chose the latter....

  3. I have a web site for my insurance company..Its say I have been approved 100% and it has a "start" date of Oct 29 & the "end" date is blank..I have not gotten a phone call yet. I was with my surgeon on Monday night, when he said all things were a go! Wednesday I got a call from his office saying they needed a referral from my PCP. Its Friday morning & everything seems to be going my way 0n FRIDAY the 13th, so it only took 4 days from submitting to approval...BUT does that start date mean thats my surgery date?? or nothing can be started til after the 29th??...I'm a wreck & waiting for that phone to ring...I don't want to call them..I'll wait til after 3...seems like people get their calls aroung 2-3...omg...

  4. I was sleeved on april, 3rd. My doc didn't put me on preop diet. Post op, I had a leak complication and had to stay in hospital for 5 weeks. No loss during that period. I started dropping after May 15th approx. So it's been like 4 month I'm on track: I lost 72 pounds so far. I was a low bmi (35). No need to say how happy I am.

    Awesome..job..you look fantastic..

  5. I am so excited for this Tuesday! Its my appointment to meet with the surgeon! I can not wait! I still have to quit smoking but I made an appointment with my regular doc for help on that! I can not do it cold turkey, I tried! I really hope I get my surgery date and that he has already sent off my documents to united health care!

You can quit....get the Patches at Walmart..think its 38.00 (or 4 pks of cigs).. for a box of 20..the minute you wake up stick one on your arm every morning...put the box somewhere not even remotly close as to where you would smoke..I would wake up every morning, go downstairs & out the garage door to smoke my butt...so routine & I wasn't even half awake....then one Monday morning I woke up, went into the upstairs bathroom & put on a patch, my routine was broken & I kept thinking about going downstairs for the butt, but then chose to think of that patch as my morning cig...getting in the car was hard, but as I drove to work, I rubbed my patch & thought about it as if I was taking a drag...You just have to change your way of thinking..I smoked everyday for 43 years & 3 months ago, I said..no more...I can happen, keep trying...

  6. I've had many doctors telling me that I am a good candiate for WLS for a couple of years now. I'm having issues with my veins in my leg they won't do the sugery because of my weight. I was looking for people who have had the sleeve surgery and found this site. Not sure what of all that is involved but have been enjoying reading everyone comments and information.

Question how long is the process from 1st time walking into the doc office until the day of the surgery?

I started everything in the beginning of march...all class & testing done. Still waiiting for a surgery date...probably will get scheduled for end of october if all goes well...so 6 to 7 months I believe is the average wait..

  7. When I was going to my classes, we talked about this..I was told, 1 oz of alcohol could have you falling down drunk (cheap date)..there is nothing in your belly...also, you could get a little depressed & you may starting like the booze alot more than ever..when I have my cocktails now, I drink "Sombreo" with milk..don't think I'll be drinking those after my surgery...way to fattening & sugar...

  8. Has anyone started taking Biotin yet for Hair loss? And how much is a worthwhile dose. I just bought 1000 MCG 333%. I got the under the tongue meltables, 1 a day. I am still pre op and don't have a date yet, but after reading alot, everyone is saying that they started losing their hair around 4-5 months out & it lasted for a good 3 to 4 months...don't know if Biotin will help, but if I start now?? Is there anything else that you could recommend?

  9. I don't think any one is getting the lap band anymore..most are having it removed, then getting sleeved....I don't even think the drs recommend it...I am still pre-op..I started in March 2013...It is a lot of work, and you have to be physically & mentally ready for this life-time journey..You will have many ups & downs..You'll have to quit all "bad habits" for me it was diet coke & smoking....I wish you all the best..& I'm sure you can do it right along with the rest of us...It is not a dream...right now might seem like a nightmare, but its all real..and I can't wait...

  10. Ugg...I got to give up the diet cokes....I actually eat really good...its been just hell getting weight off...I had my appt Monday with the surgeon...(3 days ago,) ... I got a call this morning from the surgeons office, saying they need a referral from my primary care before they can submit anything to the insurance...the wait is still on...

  11. wow' date=' that's a lot! I had to do a seminar, then see surgeons nurse practitioner, had to see a psych once, NUT once, have a physical once, blood work and EKG, and now I am going to meet surgeon on the 17th and wait for insurance approval. do mind if I ask how u quit smoking??? that's what I have to work on, they said no nicotine for 30 days before surgery! Oh and one surgical weight loss support group.[/quote']

Quitting smoking was easier than losing 10 lbs...I did 2 weeks on the patch...never cheated.. I kept asking myself if I want to be skinny or smoke...then I got a smaller dose patch for the 3 rd week..then nothing..its been almost 3 months...they did do a nicotine test on me too..called "cotinine"..in my blood work..

  12. I have an appt with my surgeon to get the "go ahead" for surgery and then submit to insurance. I am hoping to schedule the surgery date then too, pending approval of course. I am fairly confident that I will be approved. I meet the requirements, but you just never know with health insurance! So I will keep my fingers crossed for all of us hopefuls! :-)

You are in the same boat with me!! Im a wreck waiting for this...& Im 57 so its not that easy anymore...
