Worried about getting stuck at the border
atlchick replied to Italiancurves's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
This was on travel.state.gov: Minors: Mexican law requires that any non-Mexican citizen under the age of 18 departing Mexico must carry a notarized letter giving permission from any parent or guardian not traveling with the child to or from Mexico. This permission must include the name of the parent, the name of the child, the name of anyone traveling with the child, and the notarized signature(s) of the absent parent(s). The State Department recommends that the permission should include travel dates, destinations, airlines and a brief summary of the circumstances surrounding the travel. The child must be carrying the original letter – not a facsimile or scanned copy – as well as proof of the parent/child relationship (usually a birth certificate or court document) – and an original custody decree, if applicable. Travelers should contact the Mexican Embassy or the nearest Mexican consulate for if they have any questions about these requirements and recommendations. -
Worried about getting stuck at the border

You may want to research traveling into a foreign country with a child and only one parent. I am thinking you have to have paperwork to show you are able to take him out of the country (like permission from other parent?) I don't know for sure if that is the case for just going into Mexico or not but I thought I read that before....so parents cant kidnap kids from the other parent or something. Again, not sure and maybe you checked this already but thought I would throw it out there in case you didn't. -

I have been doing the same thing! I made it a choice to go ahead and start eating low carb so I can get used to it slowly and also jump start weight loss. Of course, cutting out most of the carbs has kept the cravings at bay. I also started taking my Vitamins again and taking magnesium (which cuts my chocolate cravings). Now I haven't thought I could fit in any old clothes yet so that is just you LOL!! I do agree though that since I made the decision to do the surgery my mind has started to prepare for it plus I am not stressing about my food choices now. I know its gonna come off with my efforts! Normally I would stress over it. We bought holloween candy last night-2 big costco bags. Normally I would have opened it and had at least one but nope! By the way, I just gave alma my deposit and I am looking at flights so I officially will see you next week!! My date is officially the 4th so I should be sleeved by the time you get to the hospital Yay me -

Yeah, the deposit is going to firm it for sure. I just emailed her my consent form and I am waiting to hear how to send her my info to pay the deposit. My 401k loan just hit my bank account! Getting close now -
Congrats, that's awesome! Glad to hear. Dr. Garcia is who I am using too!
-
Ok, thanks, I will be sure to get a good lock for my suitcase then. How are you feeling?
-
Is there a place to lock up your belongings at the hospital? I have heard different answers on that. Thanks as I will be traveling alone.

I will be there on the 4th and leaving the 8th! She reserved the date but I need to send her my deposit which I will do tonight. Getting nervous and excited! Who else is going then? -
I'll say 33. But clothes and hairstyles can make someone look older or younger. The first 2 you looked younger than the last 2.

Thanks, that sounds yummy!

Dr. Fernando Garcia/Florence. I need to send her my money tho before its official -
Yeah, the soda is hard...well actually the diet soda bc I don't drink regular soda. I have been trying really hard to transition to water more. I bought some of the liquid flavors to add to my water and that is helping.

Where to get protein foods and samples
atlchick replied to MacMadame's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
How about Visalus Protein Mixes? I bought some from my nephew a while back and still have 2 bags left. I think I am going to use them. Does anyone know if these are ok to use? It seems to meet the criteria. Thanks! -

will my brain catch up to my weight loss?
atlchick replied to diana89131's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wow, 54lbs, that's awesome! I cant see how you don't see changes after 54lbs? Maybe take some pics and compare them with pics before the surgery. Seeing pics should show you the differences. Are people commenting on your loss? If they are then you have changed but your brain must be foggy and still seeing the "old" you in the mirror. Maybe its just hard for you to accept the changes. I don't know how I will feel after surgery when the weight is coming off. I am so used to being heavy I probably will still feel like a heavy person too! -
Ew gross, butter on a spoon? When I was thinking about whether or not to get the surgery I ate like you did. I don't know why though. Once I had it in my head that I was going to do this I went ahead and started changing my diet. I thought I needed to get used to this as this is me from now on plus later down the road I can have those things in small amounts if I really wanted to? I am still preop

Thank you! This is very helpful as I am in preop stage and researching how to eat properly afterwards. -
Were you self pay? I was wondering if you could get insurance to cover skin issues if you were self pay if they were like similar situations as yours.

One thing I have noticed
atlchick replied to Mel1071's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was thinking that too. My sister had bypass and she looks older and more sickly. I think its b/c of the malabsorption and loss of nutrients. She doesn't take her vitamins like she should. -

My sister had Bypass and she has kept it off for almost 3 yrs. This is one of the reasons I want the sleeve. I am tired of my weight going up and down and up and down!. I don't mind putting in the work but I want to know that I have a great tool on my side to keep it off in the long run. -

Its funny that you say this. I actually have already started eating low carb and for some reason I am not as paranoid about food yet I am able to make better choices right now. Some of that is because less starch but I had this feeling before when I went on Nutrisystem like I didn't have to worry about my weight all the time. I am already trying to be more consciencious of what I am eating. -
What do you "eat" during liquid stage?
atlchick posted a topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
Trying to plan. Is protein shakes and broth all you have for liquid stage? Am I missing anything else that is nutritious? Thanks!
