3 1/2 weeks, what is everyone eating?
atlchick posted a topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I guess I am still on soft foods/pureed stage. I am not very creative so have been drinking my protein shakes for majority of the protein and then mostly eggs. I added some spinach to them and I have been feeding off the ones I made for a few days now! Thankfully I never really feel hunger, only feel emptiness but trying to get more creative with my meals so I am getting more variety. Taking some ideas from everyone. Thanks!! -

Thanks, I think the applesauce would suite me better. May give it a whirl. I was eating chicken salad on whole grain wheat thins and that went pretty well. -

Hmm, interesting. I have canned tuna and cottage cheese! I don't normally like hot sauce. Does the hot sauce overwhelm it or do you suggest an alternative to it? -
Cottage Cheese and purple grapes (my fav) or with peaches is super yummy!

Scary surgeon story has me freaked out!
atlchick replied to Sleevesdropper's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
Yes, it is talked about on this board somewhere. If you search his name, you can probably find the story. It is hard to tell what is fact vs fiction though so it may not be helpful for your decision. -
Stupid Q Do you need a passport for TJ?
atlchick replied to rredrruby87's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
You don't need it to get into MX but they did look at ours when we tried to get into the US. -
Congrats!!

Mexico prices - please share yours and your surgeon
atlchick replied to Jenny12's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I had Dr. Fernando Garcia and the price and inclusions were the same as Patti. I paid extra for my airfare to San Diego. I got there really late at night so I opted to stay the first night in San Diego at my cost. I stayed at their preferred hotel and paid about $115 for the night (that is with their discount for bariatric surgery patients). Driver picked me up from the hotel around 10am the next morning. I had a great experience. -
Cool, I am also from Marietta, but I was not sleeved locally. Welcome!

atlchick replied to tampa's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Maybe try sneaking in some carbs. -
not sure what they recommend on that but I haven't had problems swallowing pills. I just do it at night before I go to sleep. I take my fish oil and sometimes a pro biotic. I was sleeved 10/4

So apparently I'm a hypocrite for getting weight loss surgery
atlchick replied to thehappycat's topic in The Gals' Room
Sometimes you gotta do things for yourself and think of yourself 1st! Just b/c people don't want to remain fat doesn't mean they all of a sudden hate other fat people? Its like when overweight celebrities want to lose weight people talk about how they are hypacrits and should love themselves.... but they should be able to feel healthy and good about themselves if they want to! What I have also learned is even skinny people think they are fat so maybe she does have some jealousy there....you might not be considered the "fat one" anymore in your group. Maybe that worries her? -
Not another Gas question
atlchick replied to KrittyKat's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Its worse at cold or hot vs room temperature. I had it bad for the first couple of days but the more often I tried sipping it gradually got better. -

Asian people are very concerned about weight!! My mother in law is Filipino and her and her family are ALWAYS talking about weight. Ugh. -
Thanks for sharing, you may save someone else in a similar situation.... glad you are on the mend!

Only FOUR Days! What have I forgotten?
atlchick replied to TxCalico's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Im feeling pretty good now, thanks! For 2 days I had the gas in my chest when I drank too fast/too much and that was about the worst. Now I don't get it too often. Just my stitches get irritated b/c I am leaning on them by sitting at a desk all day but they are getting better. I am actually doing better at drinking then I thought. I am getting in about 2 protein shakes a day and mostly water. Had some jello and pudding -

Oh, I also recommend setting up Skype or something like that to video chat with your family that stays behind. That was nice to be able to see my husband and kids faces when we chatted and it saved on cost of international calling since Skype is free. -

I had Dr. Garcia and was sleeved last Friday! Florence Hospital was ok, not too bad inside. For the time at the hospital I stayed in my hospital gown, just showered and changed undergarments. They give you a pair of stockings during surgery so I wore those mostly instead of socks. They give you a cheap pair of slippers so you don't really need those. They will give you something for nerves right before surgery too. At the hotel, made sure to have stuff to keep you busy bc there aren't too many English channels and that changed depending on the show, it was a lot of CSI type shows and I was over them after a bit. I don't think HULU works in TJ either if you have that. I suggest some DVDs. I wore mostly comfy bedtime clothes at the hotel but made sure to have some clothes to wear if I wanted to get out of the hotel, which I did one time with the others that were there also from Garcia. I only tried the Gas X one time but others say it was a Godsend. I didn't have too bad of Gas, just with drinking for the first couple of days. Everyone was really nice and my experience was good. I was nervous too. My suggestion is to make sure when they say you can drink that you try to drink often b/c it will hurt at first and you wont want to but you can easily get dehydrated. One of the other ladies there was older and was having a hard time with that! -
What is the FAST TRACK PASS ?
atlchick replied to Italiancurves's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
What are you eating mostly? I am only day 6 so 1 more week of liquids pretty much. Im trying to stay away from the juices so right now drinking Premier Protein, Vitamin Water, regular water, unsweet decaf tea. Not really doing broth b/c I don't like it much. Any alternatives? I think when we get to where you are at, we can start to expand so looking forward to that. -

Samuel drove us but we had to leave at 6am due to the flight times of some of the others I had to drive with. He said early in the morning the fast past isn't open? So maybe that's why he didn't use it on some?
