Does your spouse know how much you weigh?
atlchick replied to Ree's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Nope, he doesn't know. He knew my weight when we were first together b/c it was a healthy weight but as I gained/lost over the years I was too embarrassed. I will probably tell him once I reach my goal. -
What foods are highest in protein?
atlchick replied to atlchick's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks, this is a good one too. Seems like a lot of Protein for a small amount of food. I think I can try that. -
What foods are highest in protein?

I'm not getting my protein in and looking for suggestions as to the foods that are higher in protein. I just started tracking my foods on MyFitnessPal so I am seeing what I've been getting in. I may take 1 protein shake a day to help -
What foods are highest in protein?

Interesting, I'll have to try that. I have never had tuna mixed with cottage cheese. -
What foods are highest in protein?
atlchick replied to atlchick's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks for the replies. The website is very helpful to put it all together and put it in perspective. Shrimp is out as I have a shellfish allergy. I am incorporating the cheese. Anybody using protein powder in their foods? I don't have a clue on that. -
I feel like bike riding works best for belly fat Same here. I cant remember how long we waited...not too too long but i know for thec1st week i just slept. When we did indulge we were very careful & mellow about it early on. Better safe than sorry!

my co workers don't know and haven't really said anything to me on how much I am eating. I started changing my eating habits far in advance of the surgery to get them used to my changes so they knew I was trying to lose weight. For example I stopped going out to lunch everyday (fast food) with my coworker. I also started taking Protein shakes and eating low carb so they saw me doing liquids more. My weight loss has been slow and steady so it wasn't fast enough to catch their attention. What I tend to do is put more on my plate then I know I will eat-habit. They never notice how much I don't eat. I also eat slowly and since mostly at my desk they don't really notice. if they do notice which have occasionally I say I am not too hungry or don't want to get off my diet too much (like our company Thanksgiving meal)

Updates from former Dr. Garcia & Dr. Illan patients?
atlchick replied to Tiff's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
Im glad to know he was willing to look at your blood work. That is a good idea. I had surgery with him on Oct 4th and have not had a post op blood check yet. I was wanting to do that soon so its good that I can email to him for advice. Thanks for sharing! to the Original poster: I got surgery with Dr. Fernando Garcia. I have not had any complications and I don't get hungry and I used to get hungry all the time before surgery (I do have feelings that my stomach is empty and assume it means I need to eat fyi). My weight before surgery was 252 and I lost 10 lbs on my own during the pre op eating plan. So my weight at surgery was 242. I am now at 195! Very happy with the results. I did have pretty bad heartburn/reflux for the first month but it has lessened quite a bit now-only occasional now. I have not been doing the exercising like I should so this weight loss is just from eating habits. I am starting to work out more now b/c I do want to look toned when I get to goal. Good luck! -
Oh excuse me i didnt know the food police worked here!
atlchick replied to kim2002's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Haha, this happened to me the other day. I didn't eat much of the soup so she thought I just didn't like it! -

atlchick replied to kim2002's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Exact reason why I have not told anyone at work! I don't want people hovering over me or watching me eat. That is my pet peeve is to have someone watch me eat. -

1 Week out - Tired & Confused
atlchick replied to phoeebs's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you are only 1 week out you are definitely still recovering from major surgery so its expected to be tired! Give yourself some time. Sounds like you are on the right track. I got my mensies 2 days after surgery and that will make you more tired also! -
Congrats on the weight loss! I can really see a difference in your pics. I saved my old clothes too, not sure why but glad I did. I have a box of the next 2 sizes I will be in. So eventually will have to pull them out. Thankfully wont have to buy much for awhile

They suggest that you also take measurements b/c sometimes the scale is not moving but you are losing inches. Also, watch the high calorie drinks like fruit juice as those calories are a lot of sugar and can add up. Its probably not that but thought I would throw it out there since at first I was drinking some of those then switched to flavored water.
