    Potato Chips Without Guilt

Veggie Straws are a great snack. They are flavored from Spinach, Tomato, and Potato, but all taste the same... just like a very light version of plain potato chips without the grease and salt. There are 38 straws in a serving only 130 calories. I purchased them at Sams. See link below with more nutrition info. Happy Snacking! http://www.fatsecret...-lightly-salted
  2. :help: I'm hungry frustrated and thinking of ways to cheat. Please help. I am on my two week liquid diet eating Jello, popsicles, cream Soups, etc. and I can't take it anymore. I am so tempted everytime I open the refrigerator to get a popsicle or to drink a fruit2O. :hungry:

    No fills

Yes, once you start to get your fills you will definitely have restriction. I experienced the same thing a few weeks after my surgery once I got to mushies I had a full appetite. Now that I have gotten three fills I feel the restriction and I don't eat that much. Hang in there!

    Questions about fills

Hi Sweet For Life, I was banded 7/5/07 and just had my third fill 8-27th. I now feel more restriction, but I am still eating more than I am supposed to and will go back in 9/4 for another fill. I am now at 8ccs. The first and second fill sI was given 3ccs and this last fill I was given 2ccs. It may take a few fills before getting to the point of where you need to be so hang in there you are not alone. I lost 20lbs during the two weeks liquid diet and since then my weight has been the same. I also know that part of the reason is I haven't been exercising like I should. So if you can throw in excercise and keep your doctor informed that you are not feeling any restriction. Good luck!

    Question on Fills

I am experiencing the same thing. I lost 20lbs preop, but after the surgery it stopped. I had my first fill last week 8/14 and I can still eat the same amout of food. My doc did tell me to call this week if I didn't feel any difference in my eating so I will be calling first thing in the morning to schedule my second fill. Hang in there! I have been frustrated with the slow weight loss myself.

4 weeks out and im HUNGRY!

I'm right there with you. I am on mushies and I have a full appetite. I have noticed I have put on a couple of pounds since I have gone from liquids to mushies. I have been feeling quite disappointed about the few pounds I have gained and I can't wait to have my first fill.

    Band Date July 5th! Hooray!

Hey Lindsey, Glad everything went ok with your surgery! I'm day two postop of my surgery and I haven't been hungry either. Today I've had four sips of Protein drink and one spoon of yogurt. I feel like I've eaten at a buffet. I am sooo full. The main problems I've had is gas. If you do not have any liquid gas medicine please get some. Other than the gas everything else seems ok. Congratulations and lets keep in touch with our progress.

    Band Date July 5th! Hooray!

Today I've been feeling very uncomfortable all due to gas! What has helped me is walking around and Zantac. Other than that I'm ok.

    Band Date July 5th! Hooray!

Yes it was BCBS I had. BCBS covers the surgery it depends on what coverage employers select. My employer did not select Bariatrics under their plan.

    Band Date July 5th! Hooray!

Hello Everyone, Just wanted to let you all know I am doing fine except I have a time with urinating. It takes a while to get going as well as I have pain in the upper right quadrant of my abdomen (port site). I was banded this morning 7:30am had some nausea postoperatively but improved after medication. I was sent home @ 2:30pm. I am surprise as to the recovery I have had from this morning to now. Well I just wanted to let you know how things are going. I am about to walk around a little to ease the discomfort and chew on some crushed ice chips.

    Hard Time With Pre-op Diet

Clairabelle hang in there! You are not in this alone we are all here to support you. I am currently on my pre-op diet as well. One week down and one week to go. I cheated a couple of times the first couple of days, but after going to my pre-op on yesterday and my Dr. told me that if my liver did not shrink he would not continue the surgery I have been following the diet as I should. I know it is hard because it has been so hard for me, but look at the big picture of what you are trying to accomplish and just think the liquid diet is a temporary thing before the surgery and a few weeks after, but eventually you will be able to eat food again (healthy food though) Stay strong and when someone is cooking in the kitchen go close yourself in a room and take a snack with you (yogurt, jello, popsicle, protein shake)

    Pre-Op Binge

I am scheduled to have my surgery 7/5/06. I am on doing my two week pre-op diet now and yes I have cheatd a couple of times (broil fish, salad one day and egg sandwich another day) I have been following the diet very strictly other than the couple of slip ups. What really scared me was yesterday I had my pre-op done and my doc told me that if my liver has not shrinked he won't continue with the surgery. Since then I have really been following the liquid diet exactly as I should. :faint:

    Band Date July 5th! Hooray!

Thank You all! Happy Independence Day! My 4th of July will be spent drinking clear liquids. (I'm okay with that!)
  18. My husband is really feeling the raft of my frustrations, but he has been hanging in there with me because he understands I'M JUST HUNGRY! Guess what he is cooking now. Cheese Fries with bacon ranch-the works! I have had a Isopure shake, Jello, and I am forcing down sugar free orange Tang to fight through the hunger pains I am having right now. I've surprised myself because believe it or not I'm ok. Thanks for everyone's support and encouraging words. Band Date July 5th!

    Pre-Op Diet Suggestions

Isopure Dutch Chocolate! Delicious, no after taste and goes down smooth.
  20. Hey I am right there with you. I am on day three of my two week liquid pre-op diet and yes I cheated as well. I had a broiled fish and salad (italian dressing) from Captain D's. At first I felt guilty, but I feel sooo much better and I have been continuing my sugar free drinks and yogurt. I feel I can now do it! I know you can as well! Good Luck!

    New member in Atlanta

Hello BaDonk, I live in the Atlanta area, also. I am scheduled to have my surgery July 5, 2007 in Gainesville, Ga done by Dr. Richards. I am currently on my two week diet (pray for me!) It took me two years to get to this point. My journey has been interesting beginning with the insurance I had at my old Employer (BCBS) did not cover it. Then I found out my husbands recent employer did cover it, but his job changed insurance companies and the new company did not cover it. During all of this time my husband eventually got a better paying job with another company and the good news again was his insurance with his new job carried it! I was soo excited, but then what prolonged everthing was CIGNA wanting 6months of doctor office visits with my PCP following me on a diet. I visited my PCP about 2 months to go along with 4 months I was being followed at a weight loss clinic a couple of years prior (was told by the sugery center the old doctor visits would be ok) After submitting my information I was denied approval. It took about two months or so to find out I was denied. In the letter they then said they needed 6 months of consistent visits to my PCP following me on a diet and they needed a letter from a nutritionist and my PCP, so there goes another 6 months of me going to my PCP. After that another hold up was getting my PCP to write the letter for me. That took another month or so. I had given up when I was expericing all of the hang ups, but after finally getting the letter from my PCP saying she followed me on a diet and based on my BMI and weight she recommend I had the surgery and the letter from my nutritionist(no problems there.) I was approved and I now have a surgery date (7/5/07) and I am on my third day of Pre-Op dieting. As far as support from friends and family. I have support from my husband and sister, but when I told my best friend I was thinking about having the lap-band two years ago, she was soo against it and I have heard my dad make negative comments about people having weight loss surgery so I haven't told him nor my mom nor my best friend (I will one day when I am ready) There is enough emotion that I have experience to tell people I know are against it and hear the negative comments all the time. It is totally up to you, but do what makes you feel comfortable. Tell someone though you will need to have a support system of some kind. If your husband supports you then that is great! If his insurance United Healthcare covers it and yours don't then yes get on his plan as soon as you can. (Call your carrier and his first to make sure before switching) If either your carrier or his cover the lap band then make sure you find out the specifics on what they require then once you find that information out. I know you said you were looking for a good doctor and I would recommend Dr. Richards in Gainesville, GA (obesitysolutions.com). Go to this website to see when they are having the next Informative Meeting for weight loss. I just checked the next one is Wednesday, June 27th @6:30pm Lanier Park Hospital. I say go for it! You may run into some bumps in the road, but don't give up and keep a good notebook of all of your information. I hope this has helped in some way! GOOD LUCK!
  22. I am going to the refrigerator for a sugar free popsicle and quickly close the door. I can do it! Yes, I Can! Thanks for the boost!
