This is kind of a last ditch effort. I have always been athletic, played football and track in high school and college. Back then I was able to eat whatever I wanted to and did not have to worry about gaining weight. In fact not gaining weight was a problem. Once I was out of school however, the problem was just the opposite. I quickly jumped to 245 and kind of stuck around there for a few years. I just assumed that was the weight that I would be. Then I overnight was at 285, and then before you knew what was going on, I was over 300. My family doctor prescribed me Meridia, and I quickly lost around 100 lbs, in just over 7 months. I felt great. I'm not sure what happened, but the weight crept back slowly. I did not realize that my weight was getting out of hand till a few years ago. I quit seeing my doctor because I was ashamed at my weight, and was terrified of getting blood work done. I know my cholesterol and blood pressure is high, I just would rather go on thinking that I am healthy, than have proof otherwise. I have tried over the counter stuff since then to lose weight, as well as all the exercise videos that "guarantee" results.
Within the last month I have seen Dr. Fearing for my first consultation. I have since had my psychological review and have had an upper GI done just yesterday. The office was getting my paperwork ready for insurance just last week, so we'll see what happens (fingers crossed.) With my BMI as high as it is, the doctor did not think that there would be any problems with insurance. So we will see.
