Insurance paying for protein drinks....
kj44 replied to leo0704's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
We'll after weeks of calling surgeons office they finally faxed the script back. Insure called me yesterday to let me know that I have not met my deductible yet this year soooo when I hit that I have to call them back and then they'll submit it. Freaking obamacare! Probably won't hit that till almost years over. If then. Even tho now even scripts must be paid out of pocket till deductible is met. Only script I now take is the omeprisol Oh well. -
Last week 188.7. This week 187.6

kj44 replied to NMJG's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A

Year out what do you eat on daily basis?
kj44 replied to JessicaDiane1021's topic in Food and Nutrition
At 3 months out probably try flat out wraps. I could do like 1/4 of one made to a wrap. With maybe avocado or hummus with ur choice of meat cheese and veggies. -
Thanks for all the advice. I am not vomiting on a regular basis, thankfully. It is only certain types of foods it seems. Just gotta learn what to keep away from. If it does become more frequent I will definitely talk to dr about it.

Do you REALLY have to count the calories if you throw it up anyways??? Sigh. Lol

Why dies my regular dr have a oroblem with protein?
kj44 replied to kj44's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Thanks for the replies! I had insure fax to my surgeons office and we shall see. I'm hoping he won't have to see me first too. It's been like six months since I've seen him. His office is so far it's hard to work it out also to get off work. Haven't had anyone mention the murmur since I was probably in my 30's and was pregnant. Seems like the sonogram on my heart would've shown if there was an issue. I told my pcp that I drink the protein shakes anyways this was just to help with buying them -
Why dies my regular dr have a oroblem with protein?
kj44 posted a topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm pretty frustrated right now. My pcp will not fill out forms for the insure program to see if my insurance will pay for shakes. Says she wants a heart specialist to see me first then meet with her to discuss the shakes she thought she heard a murmur the last time u saw her(which I've been told off and on since I was 18) she did EKG and couldn't really see anything abnormal but still wants a follow-up with specialist. (Now my hubs just saw said specialist at the drs referral to the tune of 400$ since we haven't met deduct able and they found notta) I appreciate the caution and all but financially I can't do this. I told her my surgeon did an ultra sound on my heart before surgery and saw nothing. So. Why is she so concerned about my protein intake being what we sleevers have to have it at????? -
How much weight did you loose, before you could really notice a change in your apperance?
kj44 replied to takingaleap's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Size wise I haven't shifted much even after losing 80lbs. 3x. Was close fitting at my heaviest(270) but pant wise I only wore stretchy ones till I fit back into the 22s I had( at about 220). Now at 189. I still wear them. They are loose but still wearable. Kinda bums me out lol. My stomach is wear I am holding onto the weight. Sigh. -
Had begun to have some issues with it at my heaviest weight but wasn't on meds for it(other than some over the counter stuff). Since surgery I am on meds for it. I'm 11 months out and still have to continue them.

It is very a important decision u have made and normal to be anxious. For me it's been the best decision I've ever made. I believe u will feel the same way a few months out when u become aware of the way it is working for u. Best if luck and keep us posted!

Thanks! I'm a little more optimistic now :-) -
My trouble point as well. Family members have their carb laden snacks and meals. Tried to get all to eat healthy but ran into a brick wall with that.
-
Same here! Been stalled for almost two months and I know it's the fracking carbs. I keep finding myself wanting any form of them Time to grab this bull by the horns and truly cut them out!!! Yikes! Lol. Wish me luck. Maybe I should look into the 5:2 plan also. Gonna check it out and see what it entails. We can do this!!

Hi I'm in the same boat as u although the pounds have been slow to come off through my whole journey. My surgery was in April 2013. Started at 270. Currently 189. But I am at least 60 from goal so must be shorter than u. Plan to do more intense exercise also. And revamp my pantry again. The snack foods for other family members keeps growing and it makes it harder to choose well as often as I should. Soo gonna clean house again. Best to u! Keep us informed as to ur progress.
