Dr. Gandsas at AAMC in Maryland?
acampbell1318 replied to angied's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
I have not throw up because of any foods. sometimes I feel like I can eat too much at this point but I am not sure I try to stick to what Arianne tells me. I was doing a pure protein shake every morning but I am getting sick of them so I have stopped those. I find myself using the protein bars as subsitutes for my sweet tooth. I found out on my own a lot of the nausesness was actually gas and I felt better if I ate a Rolaid or gas ex. -
6 1/2 months out... 90lbs GONE!
acampbell1318 replied to skinnygirlwithin's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
you are doing awesome! I will be 6 months out in a few days and have only lost 56 lbs. I have another 18lbs to go to my first goal and if I ever make it to there I may try another 10. What is your secret I am in a little bit of a stall and I just want it to keep moving. I feel like I have been a slower loser anyway but any advice would be great. What are your typical meals like now? -

Soniaj....I think it went great I had it done on a Monday morning and it took them forever to have a room for me so it was like 4pm when I finally got to my room and they had me up walking that night. Tuesday was the worst day for me cause I was nauseous and then I went home Wednesday and besides being nauseous for a month or so I felt good. the first 2 weeks it just felt like someone kicked me in my stomach and I was sore. But that sunday I went to a fishing expo with my husband and walked around and I was fine. The first week I lost 16lbs and then week 2 and 3 I had a stall and it was frustrating but since then I have been averaging about 2 lbs a week until 2 weeks ago and now I am having a stall again. Total since the morning of surgery I have lost 56 lbs. -

no I had the sleeve. Please ask away I had people that helped me thru the first part of my journey and it was great. I am at a point now where I don't lose every week and I get discouraged but everyone tells me not to just change things up a bit. -
What's the best position for sleep post-op?

agreed with above. On my side with small pillow under my stomach or in a recliner for the first few days. -

Hi Ladies I had sleeve surgery with Dr. Gandsas on Jan. 6, 2014 and both him and his staff are great and everything went well. I ended back in surgery on May 21st to remove my gallbladder and he did that also. I can't say enough about him and his staff. If you have any questions please feel free to ask. I feel over all I have done well I wish I would have lost more but I feel great and just need to remember at least the scale is not moving up! -
I am a type 1 diabetic and this morning my blood sugar went really low and I did the same thing I used to before the sleeve ate a bunch of stuff hoping I would hurry up and feel better. I had a hash brown and a piece of French toast...not good. I should of just had some juice. I am so mad that I could not control myself and do the right thing. This is the first time I have had any kind of potato or bread.

I also thought after a hash brown and French toast I would have been full and throwing up...but no I wasn't. -

anyone familiar with Pure Protein bars?
acampbell1318 replied to morgan53's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I like the pure protein bars a lot sometimes a little too much. I think the quest cookies and cream are also good and a better choice. -
Help Mind over Matter its btw my ears sweet tooth
acampbell1318 replied to SugarTea's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
it is hard cause I have the biggest sweet tooth and up until about a month ago it didn't bother me. -
Hi everyone I am having some "head hunger" issues. I feel like I am missing my sweets and I am substituting Protein bars for it. I find myself like yesterday eating 2 Protein Bars thru out the day, just a bit here and a bit there. I am trying to stop this but my old habits are getting the best of me. I know what I have to do but any other advice would be great.

I am having the same problem but I find myself substituting sweets for protein bars and I know I am eating too many. I will take a bite of one every so often thru out the day and by then I have ate 2 of them. -
Eating too much too often
acampbell1318 replied to acampbell1318's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
sometimes I feel like I just need to chew. Maybe I should try some sugar free mints or sugar free hard candy -
That is great you did better than I would have. Keep it up!

19 Months Out
acampbell1318 replied to delta_girl's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Hi I am only 5 months out and I fear this as well as time goes by. For now I am very strict on myself and what I eat. I am just afraid if I allow that one yummy carb I will not stop. I will be so glad when I get to my first goal of 135 at that point I will decide if I want to lose 10 more (which I know my ideal weight should be 125). -
when you get heart burn how do you feel...what are your symptoms? I am trying to figure out if I am having problems with that.

Where are the diabetic type 1's
acampbell1318 replied to Healthy_life2's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was over thinking everything before surgery too, the main thing is get in the mindset that it will all change after surgery I know for me I still can't believe "I don't have to take a shot of insulin when I eat"...that just has never been normal for me so it is an adjustment. Teachamy was a lot of help to me before and after surgery, main difference for us I think is she has a lot of lows and sounds like she is in better control than me. -

acampbell1318 replied to Healthy_life2's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am also type 1 and was very insulin resistant. I used to take 50 units lantus in morning and 20 before bed and then Humalog when I ate my meals. now I do not take any lantus at bedtime and I only take 30 units in the morning and I rarely take Humalog cause I am not eating carbs. My nut. told me to drink 4 to 8 oz of 100% fruit juice when I had a low she recommended juicy juice. I am still adjusting to everything and still have lots of highs and after surgery my BS's stayed high for at least a month. -
