Hey y'all. I contacted another surgeons office today in Tallahassee. You won't believe what the insurance coordinator told me. She claims their office has never had a successful insurance claim paid with the patient having a bmi of 35 with co-morbs. Only claims paid are bmi of 40+. I have state BCBS. She blowing smoke up my a** or what??

Your post is the very reason why my doctor is telling me to get the lap band. I have acid reflux problems as well, and he states I would vomit all the time from complications of smaller stomach. I'm only 227 lbs and he said if he did a bypass later I would get malnourished and hair would fall out. Bypass later if I got the sleeve because of the vomiting.

Thank you for the replies and helpful information. I'm feeling everyone here, and disapprove of the lap band. It's just hard for me because there's not a whole lot of WL surgeons in my area.

I'm at the point where I meet the dietician. My insurance doesn't require a 6 month diet. Their facility requires a 3 month waiting period before they send off to insurance tho. Have you heard of anyone transferring completed steps to another facility? He's making me pay more out of pocket doing another test. Seems to me he wants the test to come back with some bad results so he doesn't sleeve me.

I would be crazy to get the lap band right? What if my results come back as he suspects and I have no other choice but to be banded. Would you do it to lose weight. Be banded that is.

Yes it's a crazy questionnaire. I did mine today. Also had to pay $50.00 for my visit. She said I should get results in 3 weeks. How long did it take to get your results?

Could you share your experience with their weight loss surgery center? What doctor do you recommended? What about mannerisms of the office staff?

What are some of the things I need to be prepared for during my visit tomorrow? Questions asked????

Well I'm back from my visit. I had to answer true or false to about a 400 questionnaire. Then she asked me was I suicidal or homicidal. Do I hear voices in my head. Do I feel like I'm being controlled. What are my health issues. My current weight. What diets have I ever attempted. What have I done to prepare my self for surgery. Do I have a support group. What do I eat for breakfast lunch and dinner. Where do I work. Who lives in the household. She asked a ton of questions. Glad it's over. Hopefully everything I said clears me to be okay. That questionnaire was a pain...

2x4 you made perfect sense! I've been married for 16 years and when I told my husband I wanted WLS his reply was he wanted a divorce. I told him that was perfectly fine I'll give you a divorce. He thought I was being selfish about my life. I could die and leave our children motherless. Yes any kind of surgery is risky. But this is my life my choice. Stand behind me or not I was attempting WLS approval anyways I told him. I was standing my ground. I gave him one hell of an eye opener tho, you see my husband has been dipping snuff for 20 years of his life. I told him he has been selfish our whole marriage cause at anytime he could give his self cancer and die. So he shut up and now supports me 100%. I stood my ground.

I'm trying to get approved for WLS. I have a cyst on both ovaries. I'm 34 and don't want any more children, maybe I should have them removed the same day.

What were some of the recommendations your PCP put in your letter that was helpful getting you approved for surgery?

Hi I'm currently in the process of my 3 month diet and surgery planning process. Would like some feedback if you were approved through BCBS FL state employee plan. I have a BMI of 35.5 with 1 known co-morbidity which is High Blood Pressure. I take my sleep study on Monday in which the doctor automatically scheduled me for 2 studies. Another one will follow in 2 weeks. I have PSOS,GERD, and fibromyalgia......BCBS FL only requires a 3 month diet and planning process.? So I've been told by my coordinator. She also said they don't require you to submit a 3 year weight history. Anyone here experience this???? I do have to say that BCBS state employee insurance is the Cadillac of all policies. My out of pocket max for the year is 2,500. Wanting feedback on BCBS FL applicants.. Can anyone answer...... Thanks for taking the time to reply....

Snuffle I live in Florida but having surgery in Alabama. Thanks hunny I was told I only have 3 month process and that's the surgeons requirements. BCBS FL has no waiting period. So I'm told. We'll submit in September hoping for October surgery.
