i came down with flu like symptoms in august had diaherra for 7 weeks and felt exhausted every day had to have a dr note and worked part time for 2 months. i still have diaherra often they took all saline out 2 months ago and i felt better for 2 weeks so i had 1cc put in felt ok for one week then started feeling nauseas. went back in 2 weeks had .5cc put in within 1 day felt sick again and run down. finally went 2 weeks ago and had saline removed against doctors wishes. ever since that ive had sharp pains and aching in one part of my stomach not a belly ache but sharp pain in just one area. the doctor doesnt think i have any problems with band. also in past 7 weeks my hair has drastically fallen out my teeth ache every day and i lost 22 pounds in 7 weeks help what should i do i am going back to surgeon friday but she wont take me seriously what else could it be?

i havent had a fill in over a year. sometimes i think i need another fill though because i can quite a bit sometimes and that bothers me. i can eat two pieces of pizza no problem or a cheeseburger (sometimes a little hard) chicken is the only thing really that gets stuck everytime. i do get food stuck at least once a week so im not sure if another fill would be the best decision but i want to eat less and get full sooner and longer. any suggestions? andrea -
havent had a fill in almost a year should i get one?
andielmt replied to andielmt's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
thanks for the feedback i do need to focus on healthier foods i can sometimes eat more than i should be able to like a whole steak but other times i cant eat much. i am finding myself getting hungrier more often but when i talked to the surgeons office they want me to eat every 3 hours anyway. i just get frustrated because sometimes i can eat alot and i want to eat less but i already have good restriction some times and get food stuck. it depends on what it is like chicken i have a hard time with but i can eat almost anything i just want to eat less -

my surgeon wants me to have the bypass instead of the lapband
andielmt posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i met with the surgeon today and he is all for the bypass. he said that only 1 out of 6 people succeed with the band and that i will probably only lose about 50 pounds and i need to lose 140. he said that the bypass would be better and that hes not a huge fan of the band. now what? this whole time ive been totally committed to having the band and now he is trying to convince me to do the bypass. also my bmi is 49 and he wont do the band on people who is over 50 talk about being close. i went to work today and talked to my boss who also is a doctor and she told me today that she feels that the band wont work and that the bypass is the way to go and that i am taking the shortcut by doing the band. im so confused. i feel so disappointed with my visit to the doctor today. any comments? andrea -
finally good restriction but no more weight loss
andielmt posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i had my fourth fill on june 24 and i can definetely feel a difference. i have gotten things to come back up if i eat to fast. some things i have a hard time with like chicken and some bread. i can also feel food going through if i dont chew it well. i am not loosing weight though. i was told that if i eat 1500 calories a day i will lose ( even without exercise) well ive been using my fitnesspal.com and keeping track of everything i put into my mouth. 5 out of 7 days i eat 1500 or less and the other two days on average i may eat around 1750-1900. i did notice that somedays half of my calories are coming from snacks. maybe i should limit how many calories i eat for snacks. my calories for each meal are around 300-450 so that is good. any suggestions? ps its summer and ive been getting a small soft serve ice cream once a week andrea -
have i failed before ive even started?
andielmt posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
in the past month ive really tried to eat better and stick to not eating fast food and soda, ive gone 1 month now without fast food but have had two diet cokes in one month. i know that 2 sodas in one month isnt bad but im not suppose to drink soda period. if i cant stick to it now how will i stick to it after surgery? am i going to fail? i seem to stick to things for a while but then i tend to slip as time goes by. i just dont want to sabatoge things. am i set out for failure? andrea -
ive been doing myfitnesspal.com for about 2-3 weeks now and logging everything i eat and drink. i noticed for the most part that most of my calories come from snacks in between my meals. somedays i dont even eat snacks but somedays i do. one day the total of calories was 720 just in snacks. from now on i am choosing fruits and veg that have less calories and fat. somedays if i eat out even though i choose something as healthy as i can those calories tend to be high as well. i went out to a local resteraunt and got a two egg, cheese and bacon omlet. you wouldnt believe how many calories it was. ive havent been eating out that much thank god. i now realize that its mostly my snacking here and there that add up. i also noticed that my protein is on a average to be about 50grams i do have some days that i eat like 90grams so maybe it equals out? i just wanted to share this info with you, maybe this post with help others andrea

is the band always supposed to work?
andielmt replied to andielmt's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i get upset when i end up snacking all day i feel like im failing. this is why diet and exercise didnt work, i am greatful for the fact that i am eating less per each meal though. i've been buying tons of healthy stuff to eat so i need to eat it!!!!!! i tend to go towards the few bad things i buy instead of focusing on the healthy stuff. i have come along way though i buy the lower cal and fat things if i am going to cheat. its hard to get through the whole day and do eat perfectly . it is definetely a learning process and i am learning alot so far. the weight came off so easily in the beginning when i had the strict diet and tons of restriction now i really have to work at it andrea -
this may sound like a silly question but ill ask anyway. if you are hungry but your band or your stomach feels tight should you eat anyway? sometimes i feel really tight but my stomach feels hungry so i eat something. im wondering if i should eat something light or just drink something. for example tonight i felt tight but ate 1 1/2 bowls of popcorn. i probably shouldnt have. maybe i should be listening to how i feel as far as the tight part and eat something very light so i wont hurt myself. any thoughts andrea ps sometimes i think i eat for comfort or habit

5 months post op and hair is till falling out!
andielmt replied to rakes4321's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i am 7 months out and still losing my hair. ive noticed that my hair is thinning on the top and when i part it the part is getting wider. my problem is im not eating enough fruits and veg. sometimes i go 2-3 days without them. -
i had another .5cc put into my 4cc band today which i now have a total of 2cc. i lost 4lbs since april 15(my last fill) not much. i am really hoping this fill will do it for me. i have to say that for the past 8 days i havent been that hungry. so maybe its starting to work. my surgeon said that i am pretty tight and that i should notice quite a bit restriction. how soon should i feel this? i had a cheeseburger tonight and ate it fine. i am getting alot of pressure from my doctor for this to work. she says that my band is tight and that it should be working more than it is. i am more determined now than ever to lose at least another 10 pounds before my next fill which isnt until sept. 20 pounds would be the ideal weight loss in three months though, i dont want to get my hopes up. andrea

whats more important counting calories or getting in the protein?
andielmt replied to andielmt's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i think 1500 calories is to high also i was losing like 6 pounds a week when i ate 1200 a day and only exercised 3 days a week for 30 min. now i am exercising more but also eating more calories. i also havent been eating enough fruit and vegetables. thanks for the support tomorrow is a new day and im not giving up yet. it is frustrating not to lose for 4 months but my eating habits are so much better since ive been banded i just need to regroup and try something different andrea -
whats more important counting calories or getting in the protein?
andielmt posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i am struggling a little, i am trying to keep my calorie intake no more than 1500 calories per my nutritionist but sometimes i find that my protein intake is lower than its supposed to be. somedays when i eat more protein my calories are higher. if i go back to the basics and eat more chicken, eggs, tuna, etc maybe this will keep my calories down. i go in to the surgeon on tues and havent lost any weight now for 4 months. the last time i went in she seemed very disappointed in me. i would get another fill but she said i was tight last time only at 1.5cc in a 4cc band. i have to say that in the past week ive been getting full quicker and not thinking about food as much. i just started using myfitnesspal.com to keep track of my calorie intake, it also keeps track of your protein also andrea -
How much should I loose in how long of time?
andielmt replied to soontobeskinny's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i had my surgery on nov 19th and have lost 38 pounds, for me it all came off in the first three months and now for the past 4 months nothing. i just started counting my calories on myfitnesspal.com so i hope this will keep me more in check. since my last fill on april 15th ive been exercising 5 days a week for 45 min and eating around 1600-1800 calories a day. i think that is my problem im eating to many calories. when i was losing i would eat around 1200-1300 and exercise 3 times a week for 30 min. so basically it equals out before less calories less exercise now more cals and more exercise. im ready to do something different to get things moving again. try not to get discouraged, i know its easy to. andrea -
the scale hasnt moved much lately. i may lose 3-5 lbs but i gain it back. i have to say that since my last fill on april 15th i am doing so much better. i havent had any fast food, i did have chinese once, and 1 slice of pizza since then but thats about it. i do treat myself to a kids size vanilla soft serv ice cream from dairy queen once a week. i may have one day a week where i eat every 3 hours and feel bad about it when i do because i try to only eat 3 meals and maybe mid day snack, so when i have a bad day and snack it bothers me. im trying to calculate my calories and i am eating more than i used to. my nutrionist told me to eat around 1500 and i would lose. somedays i think i eat around 1700. what worked for me in the beginning was eating 1200 calories and exercising 3 times a week for one half hour. i lost like 6 pounds every other week for one month. now i am eating 1700 calories and exercising 5 days a week for 45 min with no weight loss. NO BRAINER, EAT LESS CALORIES RIGHT? i really need to do this but find it hard to go back to that. now that i can eat more than in the beginning its hard to eat that amount. i could use some encouragement on getting back to the beginning, is this doable? andrea

3 months with no weight loss
andielmt replied to andielmt's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
thanks for the feedback. i will try to keep better track of calories and keep exercising. maybe not doing 5 days a week every week because that alot of pressure. this week i only did once and need to start up again, i just needed to give myself a break. andrea -
i changed my goal weight a little
andielmt replied to andielmt's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
thanks for the feedback, my goal may change later but for now it felt to overwhelming. i am just happy that im not where i first started. i just wish that the scales would move again but i know it takes time. i wish you all luck andrea -
ive decided to change my goal weight a little. my goal weight was 150 pounds but im starting to think that may be to unrealistic. i changed it to 165. i know thats only 15 pounds difference but because ive been struggling with my weight loss lately im not sure if can lose over 100 pounds. i can already notice a difference with my 35 pounds lost so losing a total of 100 would be beyond my dreams. i hope i can do it. andrea

exercising more eating less and better and still no weight loss
andielmt posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i had my third fill on april 15 and still havent lost any weight. i have been going for a 2 mile walk outside 5 days a week now for one month. the walk is challenging with 3 medium hills and one huge one so its not that i am doing a easy walk. i also havent had any fast food for 5 weeks now. i did have chinese (1/2 a kids size plate) last friday but thats it. the only thing that i can think of is that i may have something sweet once or twice a week. i usually have a lower fat candy bar or an ice cream. i have noticed that somedays i may eat 5 times a day and other days i only eat 3 times a day. i wonder if this is causing my weight to flexuate. this happened to me before surgery i was exercising alot and still didnt lose. im trying not to get frustrated but the scale needs to move. this is crazy, i havent really lost anything now for 3 months. i will try to keep my chin up and keep on trying but i do get discouraged. ps i can definetely feel restriction this time, some foods i can feel trying to squeeze through and it hurts, also if i eat to fast or dont chew good( im still not doing well on this) my stomach will ache for awhile. any feedback would be great thanks andrea -
