$27k hospital bill!
beebs13 replied to runnergirlsmom's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
My total bill to my insurance for my surgery was $63,000. I don't know how much my insurance actually paid everyone (hospital, surgeon? Anesthesia etc). Thankfully all I had to pay was my hospital admission copay which was $250. -
September Sleevers...! Come on in and chat!
beebs13 replied to birdmadgirl's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sleeved 9/19 and I have lost 21 lbs. I am content with that. I do not want to lose too quickly (excess skin). Slow and steady is good for me. Good luck to you! HW 262 Surgery 241 Current 220 -

So after two weeks of liquid diet, prepping and planning for support and care for myself and my kids, as well as prepping myself mentally for this surgery, I woke up from anesthesia with no sleeve. They found a tumor in the base of my stomach. I have to see a gastroenterologist and have a biopsy done. Once everything is ok and the tumor is removed I can proceed with the sleeve. I'm sad, disappointed. I cried so much in the hospital, the nurses were so nice to me. Good news is the surgeon said that from the look of it, it looks benign. Im calling the specialist tomorrow to see how soon they can get me in. Hoping for the best!

Thank you everyone for the support. It still feels so surreal. I can't believe it didn't happen, but I need to focus on the other aspect and hopefully be sleeved soon. Thanks again! -

day 1 of pre op liquid diet...failed already..
beebs13 replied to Heather Meyer's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm on day 6 of a two week liquid diet. I know exactly how you feel. I have not ate a single thing in six days and I can't believe it!! I think in this stage its mind over matter. I keep reminding myself how much I want this surgery. How much I need to change my life and its working. Still on track after six days. Good luck tomorrow, start from scratch. Don't make any excuses for yourself tomorrow. Our minds have a very powerful way of rationalizing things. Even if you have it in your hand you don't have to eat it and if you put it in your mouth spit it out. Lol. Lots of water and try to get the protein in somehow. Lots of luck to you!!! -

Nervous and 2nd guessing
beebs13 replied to ladebugg's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I feel the same as you. I'm 35 and have been up and down my whole life. Never maintaining my weightloss for more than a couple months. I have two kids 6 and 1. I also want to see them achieve great things. I do not have any comorbidities at the moment, but I know that wont last for long if I do not change my weight (currently 257, 5'1"). There is diabetes and high blood pressure in my family. We are brave to make this decision and for me it was finally realizing that I could not sustain the weightloss on my own. I need the sleeve to keep me on track long term. My surgery is 8/29. I'm nervous, but I know I need to do this if not for me for my children. Good luck to you!! -
I don't have a roller coaster story. I've always loved them but as my weight increased I avoided them all together. Also having those fears that I alone would break the ride. My story is that one day while volunteering at my daughter's kindergarten class I heard a little boy say to my daughter "your mom is so fat". Now, I could care less about what a five year old has to say, but it was the feeling that I have now embarrassed my daughter and put her in a position to have to defend her mom. She just replied "yes, but she's so beautiful" . My eyes filled with tears and I will never forget that day.

I'm so sorry that happened I can totally understand where you are coming from. My surgery is at the end of the month and while I tell myself there is no need for "food funerals" there's this part of my brain that says "better eat it now". The best thing out of all this is that you didn't set yourself back by eating that meal. I have a feeling the guilty feeling would have been worse. Good luck on your journey.

3 month progress! Lovin it
beebs13 replied to Jessiegurl2686's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You look great! I'm having surgery at the end of the month. Hoping for the same results!!! -
My surgery is scheduled for 8/29. I have the same exact worries. My husband looooves my body how it is now. He says I'm perfect. He has also been very supportive of my decision to be a healthier mom and wife. I also so not think I will ever be a stick figure. I have thick legs and thighs that I've always had even when I weighed 140 lbs 13 years ago. I understand you because I also worry about him not liking what he sees.

Hi There! I'm new to VST and this is my first post! I am currently Pre-Surgery waiting for approval from my insurance. My first visit with my surgeon I weighed in at 263 lbs, I am 5'1. My current weight is 257. I am really excited to have this surgery and begin a new healthy life. One of my main concerns after surgery is being able to carry my 15 month old son. My oldest (my daughter) is 6 so I'm not worried about her even though she still needs me to help her bathe etc. My son currently weighs 22 lbs. My mother is taking a week off to help me and the kids after surgery, but I'm worried about the second week when I am alone. My doctor advises that I should carry him for at least a month after surgery, but I don't know if that is realistic since I am a stay at home mom. Do any moms out there have any advice on how they got around from carrying the little ones? I know this will be very hard for me, but I want to avoid complications that may occur.
