Are there any Brisbanders out there?
-
NO WAY!! I live down near the library! There is a good chance I have seen both of you out and about. Small world huh? And a huge congrats on the banding! How's it all going? As for me? The last 18 months have been huge. As some of you may have known, I cared for my FIL till his death in July '08. In August '08 I went back to work, and just got a huge promotion this August. I am tired, grumpy and happier than I have been in a long time. More big (for me anyway) news. My DH is going to be banded. It will be Dr C, after Christmas at this stage (I work in retail, no time off for me till after new year!) unless I can work out some way to swing getting him to and from the hospital and giving him the moral support he will need to get through the surgery.

I am sorry to hear she has passed. Thank you for letting us know.

How long have you had YOUR band?
Chickie replied to KikstersRT's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
4 and a bit years. -
Congats to the whole LJM family!
-
I am still reeling. DH is so angry. What I need is for him to come home and give me a huge hug. It's not going to happen, but I want one. There is other family drama going on, so I am feeling a little over senstive at the moment. Everything will be okay, but my goodness. I didn't need this today.

I don't know what you call them, I think it might be a pickup truck? Something like that. It's a car anyway.
-
I F'ing HATE eBay (rather, the people who buy, that is) Guy brought DH's ute, sight unseen, as is, for jst over $1000... He turns up to collect and pay this morning, and says, no, too much work to be done on it, the girl that was with him SPAT at DH, then they sped off in their Merc! OMG. I am just don't know what to do from here. Sorry for venting, bt DH had to go to work, and I am still shaking.

Dr Copp is pretty cool, I have always been more than happy with him. Sunwyse... I suspect the reason he imight have appeared to be "unhappy" is, he has seen women with PCOS, IR or type II do really, really well. So perhaps, just maybe he expects that all PCOS ladies will get the same sorts of results? Just a thought.

WooHoo! Congrats CC! PJTP that it is 2:35am, and I am not asleep. And NOT happy about it.

You either love them or hate them. At first, I wasn't impressesd. But the kid brought me one of the generic "store brand" from where I work, and a couple of elephant, love hearts and blue glass, and now, I am in love. So I just *had* to upgrade to the flashy one. But because we have our own brand at work, we don't sell Pandora brand, so I have to pay retail. Ouchy after getting a pretty hefty staff discount for so long.

Pandora Bracelet A bracelet that you thread the charms onto, rather than have soldered on. Cute, fun, and oh so bloody expensive. I am buying a silver with 14ct clasp. I would *love* the solid 14ct gold, with nothing but gold charms, but sadly I am saving for a new car. So silver with two tone charms is all I can afford right now.

One of the girls from work just sent me this.
-
Posting just to post! My Pandora bracelet should be in by mid next week! I am pretty excited 'bout dat. I am.

Soo, soo much of this is crap. You know, no one was beating you down, or attacking you at all. But when BS like this, and everything else you posted is spewed forth it is hard to remain civil. Just a couple of points in you "You don't know me" post (I would love to get to it all, but I am a wee bit time poor today)... Yep, and no one else undertands that. That's why we too the easy way out. We are stupid. Again. We must be dumb. You smart. You go on "diet' Uh. Lifestyle change program. Me never been on one of those. Only mabe 5 or six a year since my son was born. Like I said in my other posts that you too as a personal attack. Losing weight is the easy part. Keeping it off is the hard part. But I suspect that you know it all anyway. I do, honestly wish you the best, and hope you defy the odds. But the reality is, you won't. And at some point in your adult life, you will have to eat your words (pardon the pun)
-
If you *really* pooped butterflies, you would know it. They tickle on the way out. Not something you would miss.... LJM, woot on the Water weight, and keeping that baby where he belongs (for the moment anyway)
-
Ahh, it's all good. I am always amazed at how quickly some people jump to the "just because YOU couldn't do it, doesn't mean I can't!" line. Yep. And you don't think any less of people who get banded do you dearie? Ahh. She will learn. Hopefully not. Perhaps she WILL be part of the between 5 and 20 % of people who can lose wight and keep it off without WLS. I hope for her sake she is.

I know! You could ship me off to Tasmania, then declare it a seperate country! Problem solved! I forgot how much fun this place is sometimes.
-
I suspect she is filled with shame at the thought of someone as nasty as me coming from her great land. Oh, and this close to Australia Day too! Quick! Get the smelling salts!
-
Babe. I am not nasty. I just don't talk crap. I don't hand hold, and I don't coddle. I do wish you the best. I hope you can "do it own you own" But saying Simply proves that banding, to you appears to be a moral failure. A lot of us here were "unable to overcome it on our own" You might want to *not* talk like that in front of the rest of the class. Tends to get them a wee bit worked up And I wasn't trying to make you feel bad. I just shared my journey. (I have to say, I as I read that post I pictured a little girl with one hand on her hip, and the other wagging a finger at me. There was also a foot stomp thrown in there... I get the best visuals sometimes. Thanks for that!)
-
No. But I'd love to have a Nanna nap till it is!

I didn't intend to say that you won't be able to lose weight without a band. I lost 20 - 30kg a few times over before I was banded. The trick was keeping it off. In 2004 alone I lost about 50kg. Granted, I lost 25kg, gained 30 right back. Lost 25kg, ganied it all right back. Time, and maturity taught me what I was doing wrong, and I did something about it. As for insecurity? Yep. You got me. I am a quivering mess. It feels good to get that out in the open!! LMAO Find an exercise you *love* and do it. It's the best advice I was ever given. It worked. I have been at goal for close to 3 years now, and provided I exercise daily, doing something I love, and eat right, I stay the same weight.
-
I am not doing it. It's done. It's been done for quite a few years now. And I will admit that it does rub the wrong way when people say they are "doing it on their own". It makes the band sound like some sort of moral failure. I wish you luck "doing it on your own", and I hope you have better luck than I did... My "on my own" year was 2004.

How forthcoming are you to people when they ask what you did to lose weight?
Chickie replied to catho72's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
It's been so long since I was in "losing mode" that people have forgotten that I was ever fat. But when I was still losing, and people asked, I shared. I am glad I did, because I ended up in a magazie a couple of years ago, and it would have been awkward if I had lied.
