I shot for 65kg / 143 lbs. I have started to maintain at 63.5 kg / 139lbs (meaning the scale hasn't moved in a while) That weight, at my height is a comfy Aussie 10 (a US 8, from my understanding) While I may be considered "chubby" to some at 5"5 and 139lbs, it is a hell of a lot better than Super Morbidly Obese. My main aim was to be healthy. Not skinny.

Who Has Lost Over 100 Pounds?!?!
Chickie replied to Rockin' Robyn's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My total loss needs to be updated - 152lbs / 71 kg lost (And I hope never to find them) -
Thanks again people ((hug)) That thread is still alive and well, sadly. But I am glad to say I am not a part of it anymore. I was pointed in the direction of a thread by another member at that board, where the lady going on about WLS not being the old fashioned way, was talking about taking (and I quote) "Medically controlled speed". While I see nothing at all wrong with taking diet pills if they work for you, (and are safe) people who do have no room to talk down to others about not doing it the "old fashioned way" *sigh* I wish we could all just get along! I wish for world peace too. ((Hugs)) Thanks again people. Your kind words. It helped calm me down, and stoped me saying something stupid!!

I was looking into this as a "treat" for getting to goal. Now I know I am doing it. Thanks ladies!

Thanks for letting me vent. I let the troll get to me. But after a chocolate, hug and coffee (in that order) I felt much better.

Thanks Bettina. I will be nice to the laptop :heh: Oh, and I have actually lost 157lbs, she had lost 24. And I did congratulate her on it. And I meant it. It really is something to lose weight. Banded or not. I guess I am just sick to death ofthe perception that weight loss is easy with WLS. It is a hard job no matter how weight is lost.

It was nothing like your post Jaqui. Trust me... You were far from condescending. This chick spouted "facts" about all weight loss surgeries. Just lumped them all in together, telling us all that our pouches would strech, we will regain, and that we will be unhealthy. She then went on to tell us how she was losing all this weight the old fashioned way, unlike us. Like I said, I am probably just a wee bit sensitive because I am about to go under the knife again. I will get over her, and her ignorance. But for the very second, I am outraged, and just wanna find a hard surface to bash my head up against.

Prune juice. Pure prune juice. A glass or two a day will have things moving in no time.

This is happening on a message board I post on. This is my reply to her saying she has'nt had a "cake walk" I am trying to be nice here. But all I want to say, starts with an F, ends in a U. The tone of the whole thing is that I have lost weight the easy way, and I dont know what it's like to be fat, or to lose wight. I feel like crying.

I am just so bloody sick of hearing the same old crap. It is getting really, really old. On a thread about WLS, is saying to someone "I am doing it the old fashioned way" not a little bit shitty? This chick went on to tell me when I replied that she was not trying to be nasty, but I have little respect for the old fashioned way" I feel like throwing the computer out the bloody window. Now I kow this is only getting to me bacause I have just over two weeks to go till my tummy tuck, and I am starting to get antsy and nervous. But hell. I am pissed.

Ok, I am not trying to pick a fight with you. I was just making my point.

Anyone wish they would have had gastric bypass?
Chickie replied to Monica S's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
No, I don't. But if something were to happen with my band, and I regained, I would be more than open to it. -
All of the plastic surgeons I saw said that they were the only real factors in sagging skin. As did both of the GP's at my doctors office. I know that my arms, legs and boobs are fine, but my belly is a train werck. I lost pretty fast, so, going by the logic that if you lose fast you have sagging skin everywhere, I should have sagging skin everywhere right? Not just in one place. I dont. Everything is great, apart from the area that carried the most weight. The plastic surgeons I saw could be right, or your dermo could be right, but it is wrong to say that losing fast is the only factor in skin issues.

Just a minor point. Genetics, how overweight a person was, how long they were overweight, and where they carried their weight determines sagging skin. Not the rate of loss.

Hi Christa, I agree, you need to be getting in around 1000-1200 calories a day at least. Any less than that, and you will go into starvation mode, and stop losing. If you can, try a protien drink in the morning, and maybe one at lunch time (this on top of what you are eating) to bump up your calories a little. As for the period issue. Messed up cycles, in an otherwise healthy woman, after a major surgery, do not indicate an ovulation issue. Surgery can play havoc with a womans cycle. They have no idea why really, but it does. When I went into hospital for my banding, I was told to bring "supplies" with me, incase I started my cycle in hospital. And when I did my pre admit for my tummy tuck they asked me when I was due to start my cycle (2 weeks after my TT) and they told me to bring supplies anyway. When asked why (I am like a 3 year old sometimes "But whhyy?") And they said even the most regular woman can have their period come early, or not at all after surgery. Losing weight can alos alter a womans cycle. In reality, skiped periods, negative ovulation tests (blood or urine) and blood work are they only real way to determine fertility problems. And most doctors (fertility, and GP's) like a young, healthy couple to try for a baby for 6 months before sending them off for further testing. Your body is probbably just readjusting, and you will be back on track in no time.

Cheating..No, not with food!
Chickie replied to kimalicious's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
If my husband waited 10 yeas for me ( & fun), I trust that he is not going to go elsewhere for sex. Why is it wrong for people to have faith in their partner? -
Congratulations Rosecheers!!

Chickie replied to kimalicious's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Never cheated, or had my husband cheat on me. Never been tempted to either. -
Congratulations!! I agree, writing everything down helps keep things straight in your head (I still do this, it became a habit) Good luck, and congrats again.

Stomach bypass operation best for extreme obesity

You know, I think they might be right. -
Enjoy your first mushy meal Lil! lol And a big congrats on the 7kg lost thus far! :clap2: You may gain a little back on mushies, but if you drank plenty of Water during your liquid phase, you will not be dehydrated, so provided you make good choices, anything you regain would just be, *ahem* bowel content... And that can weigh anywhere up to 3kg.

:clap2: Congrats on your banding!! :clap2: It has been a long time since my mushy stage, and I have forgotten most of the things I was eating. But I do recall I had mashed potato (with garlic, light parmasan, and light evap. milk ((drool))) Thick thick Soups (The little tins of cambells pumpkin Soup, cream of chicken and pea and ham are great) Toward the end of my mushy stage I remember having warmed up mushy wheet bix (real mushy to start with) Sorry I am not of more help.

Congratulations!!
