    life after meeting target

I think Jess and Kellie posted post op pics too.
  2. I have been maintaining at 63.5 (ish) kg / 139lbs for almost a month now. I am finding it hard to eat more calories (as advised by my surgeon), so I have decided to have a teeny unfill this week. [i must qualify why my Dr told me to eat more calories.. I work out daily, 1.5 hour walk, and an hour of resistance training, and 3 days a week I run, or jog (depending on my knee) for about an hour. And I would rather not give up any of my physical activity. Losing weight gave me back the ability to do all of this, and I am not going to give it up, or slow down for all the money in the world. But at the same time, I am finding because of my muscle mass, I am fairly thin for my weight, and would rather not lose any more weight, so I was told to eat at least 1500 calories a day, but with my current fill of 2.8, in a 4cc band, I am finding it tough to get in even 1300 at times. I know I could eat a bar of chocolate, or something like that, but I would rather not go back to the type of things that made me big to begin with. I want to eat more, but better quality foods. And now I am rambling.] If any of you at goal / maintaining had an unfill, how did it work out for you? Did it help with maintainng your weight? Or did you have to drop some of the exercise too?

    Anyone at goal and maintaining?

It wasn't so much that they felt I didn't need an unfill. It was more like "If you do need one, and you very well will, you are in good hands" Type of thing.

    Anyone at goal and maintaining?

Thanks for the suggestions, however I have never been a big Protein shake drinker. I have always had solid foods (I only really ever had shakes when I was a brand new post op). And at this stage, I don't really drink anything milk based, or eat a whole lot of meat (I get a lot of my protein from meat substitutes and fish) This is not because I am too tight or anything, I am just far more aware of what goes into my body than before. And I am not real keen on how meats and milk products make me feel. My diet has changed to the point, where I no longer crave fatty calorie laden foods. I just want to be able to eat a little more of what I am eating now. So I am very confident that I will not gain weight. I just want to stop losing. My surgeon agreed that given I will be having my tummy tuck on Tuesday, that he would take out 0.5cc (I was at 2.8 in a 4 cc band) and he did express a concern that any post op swelling may make me tighter, and to tell the nursing staff ASAP if that did happen, and he would come in and unfill me totally. He just doesn't like playing with a patients fill level too much. I understand his point. But I am not "playing" with my fill. I am having plastic surgery next week, dammit! LOL (I am pretty sure he misunderstood me when I told him the date over the phone... Hence not wanting to give me an unfil at this appointment. He was surprised it was only next week) I just had lunch, and I must say that there is very little difference between 2.8 and 2.4 cc. But I think (provided I don't need the unfill in hospital) that it will be a good fill level for me.
  5. I picked the middle of my BMI range as my goal weight. I always said I would just wait and see how I felt as I got closer. And at one point I decided that I was done. But my body had other ideas, and I am now below my goal weight/BMI.

    life after meeting target

Hello Sugarplum! I am at goal, and am having a tummy tuck Tuesday the 15th of August (next week - eek!). I doubt that I will have anything more than the TT done, but you never know. I carried most of my weight in my mid section, and as a result, my belly looks much like a deflated balloon. So under the knife I go!
  7. I am pretty sure "self fills" would void the warranty (assuming there is one)

Does anyone have a scale addiction?

*Waves hands madly* I get on the scale morning and night, just to make sure my loss is real.

    Pregnancy after Lapband?

There are a few ladies here who have had "band babies" or have become pregnant after being banded. If you hit the "search" button, and type "pregnancy" in you will get more than a few threads on the subject come up.
  10. You know, I typed out a huge reply to this, quoting all your posts... Making my point. But by going all CRAZY RED CAPS on me, calling me a sad girl, over and over, because I don't buy your story, you kinda made the point for me. If anyone wants to see the post (I save everything, lol) PM me. But this sort of garbage is hardly worthy of my time. Oh, but one point I *must* make! Being called "girl" in my country is not a form of degradation!

    Anyone at goal and maintaining?

I think I am going to ask for a 1cc to be taken out. For a couple of reasons. One, So I can get more of what I am eating now in (high quality, nutritious foods) And two, I am having my TT next week, and I am still not convinced, despite my GP, Band Doc, and PS telling me I will be ok with my fill post op... My band tightens up with PMS, so I cannot imagine what swelling from PS will be like (I was assured by all three doc's that I would be ok to leave my fill in, because I will be in the hospital that George Fielding built his banding practice in, so they know all about bands) So, yeah. I have made up my mind to ask for a little unfill on Thursday. Thanks Jacqui, and Anaed2.
  12. No, I am a grown woman, who is a lot smarter than you think. I know people can, and do lose a lot of weight without surgery. People just don't lose the type of weight you are claiming to have lost, in the time you claim to have lost it in. I am not the only person who doubts your claims. But I was not disrespectful about it. So, I proved that you are taking in well over the 800 calories a day you claim to be eating. You were the one who posted what you were eating breakfast, lunch and dinner. I just added it up. You are the one telling the story here, I am just adding up the numbers, and questioning a few of the facts. And do I really have to go away now that I am at goal? I am already married with a child, have plenty of friends, and own my own business. I am pretty busy as it is... More friends on top of that? I am laughing at this... You can't keep your story straight. First you peed it our because of Lasix, now it is genetically altered food, and you just poop it out (oh, and FYI, if it passes through your intestines, you are absorbing calories, fat and nutrients I doubt that GM foods have evolved to the point of having no calories) I have the utmost respect for those who lose weight, no matter how they lose. I don't have any respect for people who breeze in, claim to have lost almost 100kg in 5 weeks, then get uppity when questioned, and start calling me a "sad little girl" and tell me to "log off and gt a real life"

How many fills do you have to have?

Congratulations on your loss! I have the 4cc band, but from what I have read, most people tend to feel restriction slower with the 10cc / VG band. Here are a few intersting threads on the 10cc/ VG band; http://www.lapbandtalk.com/showthread.php?t=21821&highlight=restriction+10cc http://www.lapbandtalk.com/showthread.php?t=21084&highlight=restriction+10cc

    wierd painful feelings

Hiya Simmah! If you were only just banded, this can be totally normal... But if you are further than a few months out, it could indicate a problem, and it is best to see your surgeon. In either case, if is worrying you, talk to your surgeon, or GP (if your surgeon is hard to get an appointment for)
  16. Dude, all reporters twist stories, lol. Its their job. And to lose 25kg (55lbs) in Fluid on Lasix in 3 days is pretty unheard of. I hope your treating doctor is submitting your story to a medical journal.
  17. So, you lost 80kg of Fluid (peed out, as you said in your other post), and a further half kilo a day? (17.5kg over 5 weeks = 3.5x5=17.5) I am sorry, but I smell something funny with your whole post. If you are for real, I am sorry, but it took me 18 months, with a band, working my ass off to lose 72kg. And you say you lost 97.50kg (if I did my math right) in 5 weeks? I am really sorry but is sounds off. Very off. And as for the article? The media will twist anything to suit themselves. They do it all the time. This bit of "reporting" is no different.
  18. That is all beside the point. My point was, and still is, surgery alone, open or lap cannot kill you. Something must go so very wrong to kill you. Something other than having to convert from lap to open surgery mid operation has to happen in order for "a surgery" to kill a person.

What is your goal weight based on?

:clap2: I love American clothing too! I brought a dress, it was tagged 4 :faint: I am a size 8 - 10 in Australia, but In stuff from the US... I am tiny!
  20. It would have taken far more than an "open" surgery to kill this poor man. Open surgeries are still fairly common in gastric bypass, and although the mortality rate is higher with them, it's not the "open" surgery that kill's 'ya. Its other things (leaks, staple line disruption, ect) not the act of cutting the body. So, like I said before. A larger cut could not - alone - have killed this man. There is more to the story than "They had to do an open surgery rather than lap and that killed him" Because open surgeries do not kill people. There has to be more to this story than just what is in that article. The media have a wonderful way of twisting things to suit their purpose.
  21. Oh, and congrats on 77kg / 169 lb loss in 5 weeks! WOW
  22. Sounds more like an incompetent doctor than a band killing this man. The whole "couldn't find the top of his stomach" thing is a huge red flag too. And I am sure there is far more to the story than just this.
