Thank you Jacqui ((hug)) I am overly emotional, in dire need of sleep, and only 4.5 hours from my TT. So emotions are high at the moment. kabeerah ~ Consider it a public service :kiss2:
-
Ouch! It's not always about the superficial Jachut. It's not for me anyway. I'd prefer not to have a TT, but the sores under my belly, because the skin rubs all day long is just no fun at all (not to mention the smell if I don't shower 3 times a day, wearing nylon from thigh to bra line, the rashes, the heat from the nylon...) And given I am the only one having PS at the moment, I can only imagine this is directed at me. I guess that is a bit of a killer for me. Actually it is making me think twice before coming here. It appears that anyone that has reached goal is very out of place here (anyone notice that there is no "life at goal" forum?) To the point of being unwelcome.

Thanks Cheryl! I am a bit of a prude I must confess, and the thought of not wearing panties, even if I am wearing the compression garment, is a bit much for me! Thanks Dianne and SugarPlum! I will update as soon as I am out of hospital.

Congratulations Barb!!

Thanks Seppi, and gjray! I will be taking my official "before" pics on Monday night, then I will have DH take pics every day post op. I really regret not keeping better progress pics when I was banded, so I am going to do this right!
-
:heh: Tomato soup is the one reason I am not going insane with my stress tightened band at the moment! Try it with fat free sour cream and parmasan cheese ((drool)) Oh, and crusty, grainy toast.... Ohh, I know what I am having for dinner now! :hungry:

You bet! Not ice cold water, but room temp-out-of-the-tap water.

I IQ (the Aussie version of TiVo) all the current affairs programs for the week, and watch them on Saturdays. I got to Wednesday nights "A Current Affair" and they were doing a story on a woman who drink drives, without a licence. I recognised the school and shop they followed her to, I recognised HER. She is the mother of children who go to school with my son! This woman drives drunk, and unlicensed to pick her children up. I have seen her driving, and thought to myself "she must be on something" and I was right! I am so glad I am so super protective and walk my DS to and from school every day. It's very scary to know that someone like that is on the roads.
-
She has had her licence taken away. That's all they have done so far, and she is still on the roads, driving drunk. I hope that after that story, that they will lock her up. It just scares the crapola out of me, because she is (and has been for a long time apparently) driving, drunk, to pick her kids up from my DS's school.
-
I felt like throwing up when I saw it. Just the way she said "And?" when the reporter pointed out that not only was what she is doing illegal, but dangerous to both her kids, and others people's kids. I am pretty sure she is a few cards short of a deck. The dude for pedestrian safety scared me when he said it's only a matter of time before she kills someone. I don't often buy into the "scare tactic reporting" But I have seen this woman drive. She is a freaking loon :phanvan

How many fills do you have to have?
Chickie replied to bitteroldhag's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Yeah, my doctor said somthing like that too. Till I got up to 3.9cc. After a total unfill, I had the same restriction at 2.8, that I did at 3.9cc, so I am not at that sort of fill level anymore, but it does happen that people end up with a full, or near full band. -
Small Bites... a question for the experienced bandster
Chickie replied to Poodles's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Texture. Mushy food will drip through to the lower stomach quicker than something, although well chewed, still fairly solid. Think about mashed chicken Vs mashed potato. The texture it totally different. -
CONFUSED!! Hungry-Constipated-and able to EAT MUCH!!
Chickie replied to Sweet Caroline's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Anything fuild will pass straight through the pouch. The band was only designed to restrict solid food. So till you are on mushies / solids you might find yourself a bit hungry. And YES! Drink some prune juice! I am 18 months out, and I still have a glass daily. It is my magic friend. -
Olive ~ Congrats on getting to Onederland! NatesMommy ~ 25lbs since July 21 is so awesome! Congratulations. Olivia ~ Good luck with your journey, I am sure you will get into those jeans in no time! Kirsten ~ Happy birthday!! And Congratulations on 1 year, and 77.5 lbs. Kate ~ Hi and welcome the the thread! You will be banded 2 days after I have my op (tummy tuck), so I will take the opportunity to say congrats in advance!

Aww! Thank you so much Kell! I am starting to get really nervy... Double checking my bag, and trying to get the house as clean as I can. But gosh. I am so darn excited. I can't wait to see what I look like without that belly. How are your wedding plans going? You were / are going to be in an isuue of Cosmo, right? You will have to let me know what month. Thank you for thinking of me ((hug)) ETA Do you have any other words of wisdom for me Kell? I am all ears!

I Am Now Officially In The 2 Figure Zone
Chickie replied to simmah_oz's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Congratulations! :clap2: -
Its better for a few reasons. 1) I am physically smaller, and far more flexible (thank you yoga!) 2) I have more energy, and by the time DH gets home, I am not already asleep 3) My hormones balanced out, and my sex drive increased 4) I am not quite so worried about the way I look naked. I am not saying sex was bad before, far from it, but it is wilder, and more frequent now! And that has made DH a very happy man!

Small Bites... a question for the experienced bandster
Chickie replied to Poodles's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I gave it a day on Clear liquids, then another day on thicker liquids (thick Soups, yogurt) then on to mushies for another day, then my transition food was usually a softer solid food (fish & boiled veggies usually) I don't think there is any hard and fast rule on this one. I think it comes down to whatever works for you. I was told the size of a toddler spoon or fork. So I used them for the first few months post op, and after every fill. Again, no hard and fast answer for this one. I always say I am over filled if I need to be on liquids. The way I work my band, I like to be able to eat real foods. I don't think a person can do the "band thing" incorrectly, unless they are eating around the band (ice cream, slurpies, chocolate topping - I knew a girl who was so tight she drank chocolate topping) But that's just my opinion. -
I am at goal, well under, actually. I got there last month, but didn't see my surgeon till this morning, and he noted in my chart "Under goal weight" How sweet is that?
-
I prefer fresh whole foods too. Organic if I can get my hands on it. Yumm! I am wondering if this is an Aussie thing Jacqui. I have noticed that most Aussies say nothing about Protein.
-
Any Fluid will pass the band, and will not keep you full. And if you could get drunk before, you will still be able to get drunk post op.
-
LOL That is anyones guess! This time next week? Like a cat that has been run over. Twice. After that? I am pretty confident that within the month I will be back to my old self, IKWIM. I tend to bounce back from surgery pretty quick, and I am healthier now than I have been in 10 years. Thank you all for your kind words. While I am not trying to "inspire" anyone (I tend to inspire the worst in people, lol) I do remember thinking "If she can do it, so can I" when I saw a post like this... So thank you all again. I will be posting some before and during (I am not an after till the TT) in my journal later on today.
-
Thanks for that Stef. I am going in next week for my TT. This gives me hope that my house will not fall apart under dh's supervision :clap2:
-
For those at Goal - How did you know you were there?
Chickie replied to luckyme's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Amen! I am having my TT next week, and I am already thinking my thighs are a bit wobbly! My tummy is my worst spot, but now that it's in it's last week, and I know this time next week it will be gone, I have moved on to my thighs But I am fairly sure that a TT will be my only PS. The only other op I would consider is a breast lift (I'm no longer big enough for a reduction, at an 8FF) and even then... Provided I can hide them in my bra, and I can cope... It's my thighs that will drive me mad now. My thunder thighs :heh: But really. For me, losing weight was not about being skinny, a model, or the most beautiful woman in the room. I wanted to live past 40, I wanted to be a good example for my son, I wanted to be the best wife I could be. And I couldn't do all I wanted to do as a MO woman (I could always do the basics, but I wanted to go above and beyond, IKWIM?) So aside from the BMI goal weight, I just wanted to be healthy. And if you are healthy, and happy, and they were your primary goals, you are at goal. We as a society focus far too much on physical beauty, and being skinny. It makes me glad I have a son (although he worries me at times). Oh. I am rambling again. Sorry. Lots 'o thoughts in my head today!! (I think I am a fairly normal woman, BTW, aside from the insanity)
