I totally understand. ((hugg)) I had to see a psychologist, a dietitian, and had all sorts of blood tests. Some doctors require more testing than that, some less.
-
Hi Susannah, I am not in Melbourne, and have no experence with MS, but I wanted to say "Hi" and wish you the best of luck with your appointment next month.
-
Congratulations!! A PB is a productive burp (you need to burp, and when you do some food comes up with it) And my surgeon has done all of my follow up work to date.

When I was at my largest, I tried to buy a bra (I was a 28HH) and the 19 year old 55kg / 120lb girl who was fitting the bra told me "You just have such large breast! Have you thought about going on a diet? Maybe your bra size would go down" No, I did not slap her, lol. I felt like it. But I restrained myself. And just this week, I went shopping for some new clothes (I actually had to buy a whole new wardrobe, oh the horror, and pain! lmao) And the sales girl was falling all over herself to help me. My DH on the other hand (6 foot 8 inches, and 110kg / 220 lbs) got told that they had nothing that would fit him! He laughed and said he wasn't interested anyway, he was just tagging along to pay for whatever I brought. The sales girl was very nice to him after that! I am sorry that the sales girl was less than pleasant. I would write to head office, and see what they say.

I ma not sure what you mean by "sick". If you mean PB, I do not PB all the time. If you mean feel sick, as in nauseous, no to that too. I am far more "normal" now, than I ever was. I eat out at restaurants all. the. time. DH and I love gourmet food. I just make sure that I eat slowly, and only ever order an entrée for myself as a main. I do have a coffee before my meal, but most of the restaurants I eat at offer a drink before/with your meal anyway, so it is not seen as unusual.
-
It is my pleasure. I only know what worked for me, and if sharing that helps, I am glad to do so.

Please don't beat yourself up. If you are able to eat 3 plates, it means 2 things. 1) You have not yet reached a point where you have restriction (and may need another fill, or two). 2) The foods you are eating are not solid enough (solids are Protein & veggies) so it is sliding straight through the band. A third possibility is that you are eating for too long. Most bandsters eat for no longer than 20-30 minutes (or stop if full before then naturally!) Motivation is one of those funny things. I found it really hard to find, and keep motivation in the beginning. It was when I made up my mind that this was not a "diet" but a lifestyle change, one that will be with me for life, and made changes to my diet, and exercise that I could live with, that I saw sustained motivation. And then I started losing real weight. Maybe if you try walking for 10 minutes 3 times a day for a week, then 15 minutes a twice a day for a week, then work up to the full 30 minutes a day the week after that. 10 minutes, 3 times a day, is a whole lot less overwhelming than 30 minutes, if you know what I mean. And as for your diet, well, do you have a dietitian that you can talk to? I found in the early days of my becoming a vegetarian it was a big help (I became a veggie at about 6 months post op) Good luck with everything

I was a "heavy weight" or high BMI starter, and it took me a lot longer than 3 months to lose 30kg (it took me 18 months to lose 75kg, and I was considered a fast loser) People who have a lot to lose tend to lose faster than those who are lighter. So the guy who says he has lost 60kg / 120lbs in 5 months may have had a lot to lose. You really cannot compare yourself to anyone. We are all so different. Is the 38kg in your ticker your total weight to lose till goal? If so, you may find that you will lose a little slower. And that is ok. This thing is not a race. If you want to help your weight loss along, get out there every day and go for a walk, track your intake (most bandsters take in somewhere between 1200 - 1500 calories a day to lose, although some go as low as 800 calories per day)

14kg / 30.8lbs in 3 months is fantastic !! Congratulations! You must be doing something right to have lost that, right? I have to ask. What sort of results were you expecting?
-
Hiya Mel! Welcome to LBT.
-
I have had a TT. It was well worth it. No skin slapping up against my thighs, no smelly belly, no rashes. Ahh, it was the best thing I have ever done for my health besides being banded.
-
Jess; I know we all go in knowing it could happen, but it sucks if it does. And I am sorry you have to deal with it. And thank you. I am pretty pleased with the TT results thus far. Kell; I will be thinking of you this weekend! Congratulations. I hope your big day is everything you hoped for! BTW are you still doing that article for Cosmo on brides and PS? Lisa; Hiya! Have you talked to your surgeon regarding your loss? You say you have had 5 adjustments. What size band do you have, and how much fill do you have in it? Do you exercise? What sorts of things are you eating? Myband; Hi! I won't kick you, you are too far away! LOL
-
Blissful, No? LOL Hey, aaamom! Congrats on the date for your TT! It is so worth it.

I'm Sam, from Brisbane. I am 18 months out, and 3 weeks post op from my abdominoplasty. I am under my goal weight (135/60 kg) and am trying to stop losing at this stage of the game. I may have to have an unfill to help with that. Congrats on being banded Anna. It is well worth it. Jess, I am sorry to hear about your slip. Are they hopeful that removing all the fill will fix the slip, or are the doc's talking reposition?

USA should take a page out of Australia's handbook!

I know, I just heard it on the radio. I actually really liked him, he was such a freindly guy (I lived on the Gold Coast years back, and bumped into him at the local shops all the time, he could talk about his animals forever! lol) -
Does Your Insurance Cover Plastic Surgery?
Chickie replied to mslynn's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
And it also depends on the the fund. Some don't even cover it if there is a medical need. -
Don't hate me because I am beautiful, LMAO Thank you, I am not sure if I really am that successful, but thank you! I am really trying to put the brakes on this weight loss thing, and have already had a teeny unfill, but think I will have to go back for another. I am not exercising yet (3 weeks pot op TT tomorrow, and I am not to exercise till 4 weeks), eating the same as I did pre op TT, and still dropping weight. I am a little worried that I will end up underweight too. I am a size 8 - 10 right now, and am wearing a size 6 bra (well, an 8 that the bra shop I go to alter for me) A size 6 FF is as hard to get as a 28HH. I tell ya' I can't win for losing!
-
It would be really hard to know who it was. It may just have been a 13 year old kid hacking for fun. I just think it's best not to go "pointing fingers" at anyone.
-
Don't be surprised if it is not enough. The band is not designed to restrict liquids. By day 3 or 4 I was expected to be able to get a glass of clear liquid an hour down.
-
I recall being given ice to suck on just after surgery, and clear liquids the day after, then on the second day thicker liquids. Then the usual 2 weeks liquids, 2 weeks mushies.
-
Yes, I have. It was awful, and I did have to have IV fluids (this was pre band, a few years ago) Have a big glass of Water now, and call your doctor!!
-
I just had a tummy tuck, and I can say that *I* lost roughly 2-3lbs in skin, and tissue. Nowhere near 20-25lbs. And they took a lot of skin (from about 2cm above my belly button to the pubic line, and hip to hip) The OP; My last 30lbs I had actually stopped trying to lose weight (I was comfy at 160lbs). I upped my calories slightly, and vola! It was slowish, but I guess I wasn't sweating on it, and didn't really take too much notice. Maybe upping the exercise would help get rid of the last 35lbs?

So, someone has hacked the site?

I think it has something to do with one of the posts... Click on "new posts" it is a weird jumbled title (I wouldn't click on the thread though)
