I need some GET UP AND GO!! Vitamin advice?
Chickie replied to waitingtiljan's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I second this. -
Just had a fill--can I eat too much?
Chickie replied to Angelator's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
If you feel you could be tighter, but find you are too tight, an unfill at that point is always an option. But, at the same time, you are eating very solid foods, feel full for at least a few hours after, and are losing weight at your current fill, how much you are eating really is not a problem. -

Are you eating less than before your fill? -
Sometime people get away with not having to adjust their fill after finding the "sweet spot" other's don't. I haven't had an adjustment in over a year. It really just depends on the individual. Some people never find their sweet spot either... And to be honest, I think I am one of them. I could always eat more than most people here report eating. I could, and can eat anywhere up to 1.5 cups, depending on what I am eating. A lot of my weight loss has been more down to my food and exercise choices than the band, and restriction.

Slow loser needs advice from good losers

How lean is the protein you are eating? Any sauces or gravy? Could you be eating hidden fats? -
I love an apple and peanut butter as an arvo snack. Call me twisted, but I love that combo! Or a banana, or an orange, a couple of kiwi fruit, a small bag of pop corn, some cheese, a handful of nuts, or a cup of soup.

Ayup. But at least I can post again. I was unable to post for about 24 hours.

I am from Brisbane.... But I felt the same way. And thank you for your comments Rava!

I am thrilled with my band. I just avoid these types of threads. Not everyone here has issues with their band.

Can you eat peanut butter, yes or no??

I Need Help From Experienced Banders
Chickie replied to COLLECTOR's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
No one can tell you what or how to feel. But at one week out I would not "testing" my band at all. The first 4 to 6 weeks are all about healing, not about weight loss, or feeling very much at all. Some people will feel their restriction right out of the gate, others can take a few fill to even feel the band restricting the way they eat at all. But again, at one week out, this is not where you are at. You should be focused on healing. If you have concerns, I really would be talking to your doctor / surgeon about the way you are feeling. Best of luck. -
That's odd that you would gain weight eating veggie. Are you eating nuts? Are you frying your veggies? Veggie food can be really high in fat unless you are really careful with how it is prepared. Are you eating white grain (white rice, Pasta, white bread ect) or brown and wholemeal? What fruit are you eating? Some fruit choices are better than others (higher or lower in sugar) How are you getting your Protein? shakes? Nuts? Tofu? I eat a veggie diet, and have lost all my weight, and have maintained eating this way. It can be done.

I don't know if you can un-register here at LBT, but you may be able to PM a mod to have your account deleted. Congratulations on your surgery!

I usually have a glass of hot Water, or herbal tea before trying to eat in the am. I am not tight in the morning any more, but I still have my hot water / herbal tea because... I just like it now! But in the early days, it did make a huge difference to my ability to eat early in the morning.

I love the look on the face of the boy in the red shorts! Priceless. On CL; I highly doubt that she was banded. She more likely had a personal trainer on her back daily, and ate like a bird.

Mandi, I will get my husband to take a photo when he gets home... They are not too bad, really. They are just not as tight as I would like, but nothing I am running to the surgeon for. My thighs are worse than the arms. But again, nothing I would run out and have another elective surgery for.

Every link I click but this one gets me the "500" error. -
I was aiming for the Bridge to Brisbane (5th August, 4.5km) But I found the Ipswich Park 2 Park 5km run. It is two weeks earlier, half a km longer and attracts 19,000 less people. There is also training every Tuesday night for this event, making it more attractive than the 20,000 + person Bridge to Brisbane. I am currently running (jogging? lol) 4km in 30 minutes, is there a hope in hell I could get my time and speed up by the 29th of July? This will be my first fun run of any type, so any idea's or suggestions will be welcome.

Yes, I did, and I must admit I am really excited at the thought of running, and rasing money for breast cancer research! Thanks for letting me know about this run!

32 year old not banded but very interested

Hello! Welcome to LapBand Talk! -
Do you ever feel like the lapband is cheating?
Chickie replied to lessofjess's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I think I would have been cheating myself out of the life I have now if I had *not* been banded. -
Hi Allen, I found I had to make a lifestyle change to make this work. You are right, some overweight people don't eat simply out of hunger, and taking away that hunger is not always the answer. Once the hunger was taken from me, I had to find other things to occupy my time, and thoughts. I did so with (just as an example) Photography, editing a club magazine, running, playing with my son more, walking the dog, painting, knitting... The list goes on. With time the urge to eat died down, and now I rarely think about what I am going to eat next, or when I am going to eat. It just sort of happened. I don't know when. But I am glad it did. I now know that I was just existing. Not living. And I will be forever in my little silicone band's debt for that. It taught me that living is far, far more than just existing. Best of luck with whatever you decide regarding the RNY Vs LapBand. Both have their risks, be sure to research you stats (for both op's) because nothing is 100% risk free.

Nope. It's why I was almost 300lbs when I was banded.
