Hi Kathryn! You would be surprised at the amount of will power you have! The band is designed to work best with fluid in in (a fill) but some people find that just the band alone provides enough restriction to keep them from overdoing it. Best of luck.

Aussie on the way to getting banded
Chickie replied to Ginaki's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi Ginaki! I would imagine, that unless it was a huge issue to the banding surgeon, or a life threatening condition, they will be able to band you. Best of luck tomorrow! -
Want breast reduction - is this too soon?
Chickie replied to maryrose's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Do you shop in a speciality boutique for your bras? If you don't get thee to a bra fitter. When we are, uh, "blessed" with large breasts, unless we are in the best bra for our back, and cup, we are going to be uncomfortable. I brought the best sports bra when I started running (I was like a J cup when I started running). It looks like a crop top, but holds me down, and sort of flattens the breast against me to minimise any bounce. Best $120 I spent on a bra, ever! I still buy the same bra now that I am down to a DD. Bras do a lot more than make our boobs look pretty. They change our posture. Best of luck! -
Hi Shanimal! I just wanted to welcome you to LBT. You are not alone with your PCOS. There are a lot of us out there who suffer. I was banded at 24, and honestly, it was one of the best things I have ever done. Best of luck! Hi DLew. Welcome to LBT. Read around the forums, there are so many differing accounts of banding here (the good and the bad). And there is never a "good" time to do these things. Best of luck!

Is it possible to not be overweight?
Chickie replied to sbee's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
We have a tendency to underestimate ourselves. Anything is possible. With a lot of work, and dedication, we can do anything. And thank you. I feel better than I look, and that is most important! -
Revisional surgery from VBG to Lap Band???
Chickie replied to Debi's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
I would be very interested to hear your story Debi. I have read stories, but never heard a first hand account of a VBG surgery (and what can go wrong). -
Revisional surgery from VBG to Lap Band???
Chickie replied to Debi's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
I think she may have had the old style vertical band. I have no answers for you Debi, but I wish you the best of luck! -
Hi and welcome to LBT!

If you are only 3 weeks post op, it may be a bit soon for such solid foods. I know every doc is different with his/her post op instructions, but I can almost guarantee that you are still swollen from your surgery, and that is why the chicken is getting stuck. If you must eat chicken at this stage, try it, as was suggested before, with something to lubricate the meat. Best of luck.

Update on my revision to RNY
Chickie replied to KarenB's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
I am glad to hear that you are doing so well! Thank you for sharing your update Karen. -
Guys, why are you talking failure after only a month? Honestly what were you expecting? You have both done really well considering you haven't had a fill yet. Be proud of what you have lost. Don't morn what you think you should have lost.
-
Honestly, you are doing exactly what I would suggest. Having an endoscope. Best of luck on Thursday.

I can't say that I have had any real issues with my band. Like Boo, my biggest problem was keeping my clothes from falling off, now it's finding an Aussie size 6. Those buggers are hard to find!
-
Let me start by saying at one month post op, it is way too soon to be declaring failure. And if you are failing with 5.2kg lost in the first month, I must have failed too. Because I lost only a touch more than than that in my first month. It was only after my first fill that the loss really started happening. Take the appointment. Get the fill. Work on your eating and exercise. Enjoy your life. Sam.

Does Anyone Ever Forget They Have The Band?
Chickie replied to Ryanband07's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
All the time. I honestly don't think about it a lot any more. -
Awesome! Congrats on no longer qualifying for surgery!

What can't I eat? People. Lambs tongue (yick) Cars & Buildings (although I am yet to try, I am just assuming I can't) Lots of things. What I can do, is eat most things that are healthy, in moderation. I prefer to concentrate on what I *can* eat rather than dwell on what I can't. Makes for a happier person. That said, what people can and cannot eat always differs. Best of luck.

Want breast reduction - is this too soon?
Chickie replied to maryrose's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
My honest opinion is to wait. In my experience (and this is just mine) my boobs got so much smaller within the last 20lbs. They just disappeared. I went from a good FF cup, to a DD overnight (it felt like it anyway) You might find this will not be the case for you, everyone is different, but I would wait. -
I will post in the "before & After" thread when I have had my hair and make -up done. I am going to the theatre on Friday night with DH (hence the hair make up and fancy pants), I will get the boy-child to take some photos, that pic was just for me to "see" what the suit looked like on. Now I am blushing! Thank you! The 0cc fill is just so I stop losing. At this stage, I am a pretty strict vegetarian, and the majority of my favoured foods are very bulky, and by nature low fat and calorie. Add to that the running and other exercise. I am at a point where I don,t want to lose any more weight. I weigh on a good day 49kg / 107lbs, and that is the low end of a healthy weight for my height. We tried taking the fill out 0.5cc at a time, but I was still losing, so it all came out, and at this stage, I appear to be maintaining. I must say, I do feel all special now, having been "called out" like this!! Thank you!

Thank you ladies! -
Thank you! And welcome again.

Many thanks! I am glad that I could be of some inspiration. Farax was one of my first mushies! LOL, I remember that "meal" well! I honestly don't know how I fed my son that garbage. Maybe it tastes better with breast milk? Don't get too baby food happy. You will find that a lot of regular foods will purée very well, and will be far more appetising than baby foods.

Would I do it again? A million times yes. I don't think it has changed me, if I am truthful. Sure my stomach is flat, but other than that, I am still the same person I was when I had the tuck.

A huge hello from Brisbane!! And congrats on the big decision.

*sigh* I guess I need to do some whinning.

I really have no idea. I live in Australia, and things work a little differently here. Can you search online for local doctors?
