    Changing Ports

I thought my port might be a problem too. It turned out that it wasn't at all. I can't see my port at all, and I can feel it if I go looking for it. But that's it. For what it's worth, I don't know how much thinner the low profile port is. I wonder if anyone has the stats on that?

    Help, I am in pain!

Sorry, I didn't read properly. Give it time. The swelling with either go down, and you fill feel better, or it won't and you will need an unfill. Either way, stay on liquids for at least a couple of days. It always took about 3 or 4 days for any swelling to go down for me, and I kept to liquids and mushy foods during that time.

    Help, I am in pain!

Unless being filled makes you swell, I don't think that it will get any better.
  5. Only meat? No fooling? Really? No veggies, no carbs, nothing apart from meat? Please. Get a second opinion. Eating only meat is very, very unhealthy. People need vegetables and carbs to live. It is far too easy to become malnourished on a diet that consists only of meat.

    so disappointed!

If your doctor is impressed with your weight loss, you aren't eating more than a couple of cups of food at a sitting, staying full for a couple of hours and are exercising and losing weight, I see no problem! Congrats on your weight loss!
  7. Maybe you should consider postponing, rather than cancelling your surgery. That way you have time to think, and you don't lose your deposit.

    Anyone Regret the band??

Anyone who scrutinises your dining habits is not a very polite dinner companion anyway, and not someone I would dine with!
  9. Rather than taking diet pills, I would look at what I am eating, and what exercise I am doing, and maybe kick the exercise up a notch. It's way cheaper than pills! Congrats on your loss to date.

    Random Questions...

I got given a supply of anti-nausea tablets, and if I can't keep the tablet down (hasn't happened yet) I have an Rx for the injectable type. I was out of the hospital. So two days. At the time of surgery, I had a 7 year old. I prevented him from jumping all over me my locking him in a broom closte for the duration of my recovery. Kiddin!! (someone will think I am for real, I am sure) We explained that Mummy had had an operation and her tummy was sore. Kids take these things in better than we give them credit for. I expect, if your kid(s) are anything like mine was, you will be well looked after by your Jr nurse! My pre op diet was so long ago now, I think someone who is where you are now could give a better answer to that one. Best of luck!

    Anyone Regret the band??

I have always eaten a "normal" small portion of food. I have never felt "out of place" at the table. Actually I eat more than some of my female friends who are on "diets". I am normal. Smaller portions are normal.
  12. For me, Docsdeb, being "stuck" is nothing like choking. Nothing at all. And PB'ing in not a medical emergency. It is unlikely that you will need any sort of assistance to PB.

    For all you losers.......

I totally changed my lifestyle. I started by going organic, and concentrating on whole unprocessed foods, and later became vegetarian. Personally I do not subscribe to the "protein first" thing. I eat a balanced diet of veggies, protein and carbs. Because we need all three to fuel our bodies. Best of luck!

    A year ago today

No, I don't think it has done much to change my confidence. That's why I cringe when I hear, or read about people saying "I will feel so much more confident / have more self esteem when I have my TT (or breasts, or face or other cosmetic surgery, or even losing weight!)" because it doesn't always work that way. My confidence came from growing up a little (I was in my early 20's when I was first banded, a hard time self confidence wise for any woman) getting to know myself, and achieving in other area's of my life. While it is very nice to be pretty, and have a nice body, my life is so much more than the way I look. And my self esteem and confidence stems from that. ~Tracey~ You are making me blush! Thank you!!

    Anyone Regret the band??

I would do it all again a million times over. No regrets at all.
  16. Wow! So many Aussies coming out of the wood work! Welcome everyone!
  17. I think people are just concerned by the misinformation a professional is giving you. Something else to consider is fills. If insurance is going to be an issue in the next couple of months, you might want to think about how you are going to get fills paid for.
  18. I am so glad you are feeling better!

    dr. recommended STAGES...

2 weeks of liquids, followed by 2 weeks of mushies.
  20. Hiya Cagstorm! Welcome to LBT. My whole family (my almost 11 year old, and husband) have become so much more active. We all eat so much better than before, and I think we are just more aware of our bodies, and what we are doing to them, and putting in them. I have never really subscribed to the whole "Protein first" thing. I eat a balanced diet, and while that (to me anyway) includes protein, it also includes veggies and carbs. But to answer your question, beans go down great! I would starve without them (I am vegetarian) I wish you the best of luck on your banded journey!

    I used to avoid mirrors.

I think perving on one's self is a common side effect of weight loss. I am finding myself pretending to look in store windows just to check myself out :pound:

Question for people banded for over a year

I was banded 31 months ago, I went in for fills as needed, usually every 6 weeks for the first 6 months or so (I would have to find the diary that has the exact dates and fill amounts to be more exact). My last fill was February 2006. My last unfill (a total unfill) was in January 2007.
  23. It takes about 5 years for most people to lose all they weight they are going to lose. Most studies show that the average bandster is still losing something at 3 to 5 years post op. I think it is just that most people hope to lose their excess weight in 2 years.
