Here is the truth about the band
Chickie replied to alysedg23's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes. That was exactly it. I just don't remember spending days over a toilet! I knew I forgot something!! I think was was meant (and who ever it was who said it, feel free to correct me) was that PB'ing everything and spending hours over the toilet wasn't normal. A good majority of bandsters will never go through that. Yep. I feel the same way. I have a great life and family. Great huh? Eh, you were either going to do something about your situation, or you were going to continue to suffer. It's not my body. I only offered a suggestion as to what I would do in your shoes. The pre op diet is about shrinking the liver so it is smaller, and less fatty and easier to move without causing major bleeding during surgery. In this case, getting back on the wagon, and trying really, really hard for the week or two that is required is not only a good idea, but actually a requirement of some surgeons. If they think for even a second you have fallen off the pre op diet wagon, some docs will cancel surgery. So it's not advice that is useless. Yeah, I don't know what thread you are talking about (a link would be nice) But really. Cheating on the pre op diet, while it does happen, it's not a good thing. It can affect your liver, and as a result the surgery. So while the delivery may not have been as gentle as you may have liked. There is a reason behind the need for the pre op diet, and why it needs to be stuck to so closely. And yes. I do remember my lack of self control. I am pleased that I am at the stage where my little piece of silicone, even when unfilled, can give me control over the volume of my food. I don't recall belittling anyone. But if I have, I can only apologise. I hope you find peace and have nothing but success. Good luck. -
Thank you!! I think I have had a fairly smooth run of it. I haven't had any major problems, and my weight loss was fairly steady. I can't complain. I do exercise daily. I run 5km a day during the week, and at this stage my Sunday run is an 8km. I do some weight training 2 or 3 times a week (I hate it, but it really is a must) and I do yoga 3 days a week during the school term. I have a 10 year old son, but have my 10 year old nephew down from Caboolture for the rest of the school holidays, so my son is in heaven!!

Welcome to the "At or near goal forum"

Why thank you! The reason I don't have a ticker is I am just way too lazy to put together a ticker... So that is the compromise. LMAO Wasa, I PM'd you. -

Oh! You did! You were civil, as was Wasa, and the others who weighed in. It was just one poster, and her comment (that was deleted by Alex). -
1. Do you regret having the surgery? Nope! 2. Have you had any complications because of the LB? None. 3. Is there anything physically you can't do anymore because of the LB? I can't stuff myself silly any more. But that's a damm good thing! 4. What foods and drinks are off limits now or can you not handle because of the LB? I don't drink anything carbonated. But that is by choice. I understand that some people can drink soda's. 5. Have you had any negative side effects? Aside from losing 190lbs? None.

It all comes down to where you feel healthy and happy. If you are happy at 155lbs, by all means, shoot for 155. And really, what's better? To get to 135lbs, and struggle to maintain, and be unhappy with your boday? Or to be a comfy 155? Congrats of your loss to date! It's so good to see so many "losers" here!! :clap2: -

I think the only "argument" was that to be healthy, a person cannot live on meat alone. And to argue that those Zylene pills are not a diet pill is just silly. The description (I posted the link in another post) says it all anyway. Vitamins to supplement a healthy diet is one thing, I have no problem with that (in fact, unless a banded person is sure that they are getting in enough vitamins through their diet, I think it is a good idea to take a multi vitamin). But to live on meat alone and take pills to make up for the lack of a varied diet is silly. And if I offended anyone by saying so, I am sorry. But I cannot stand by and nod my head and say "Yes! Wonderful! Meat only till goal weight is a great idea! Health be dammed, starve your way to skinny!" when it is clearly a very bad idea. I have to say, throughout the whole debate, I have been civil. Unlike some posters. It astounds me how nasty people can get when their idea's are challenged. But, I guess my mother taught me better than to pick on the way people look. I have manners! Yay me! -
My "goal" list from February 19 2005 (copied and pasted from my blog) I am pleased to say, I have reached every single one of those goals.

Frustrated after consult...help!
Chickie replied to CandyE's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
No? I started at 297, and am now at 107lbs. It can be done. I lost over 110% of my excess weight. Don't give up before you have even started!! I have seen plenty of people lose 90% or more of their weight with banding. -
 DH! The sod! Claims that the damage I am doing to his bank account is toxic to his environment!
-
I think you would have to pry it from my DH's cold dead hands. He wants to make sure I stay in there a LONG time!! :help:
-
How do you act when you are thin? Much the same way you do when you are overweight. I am far more invisible now, as the "average" girl, than I ever was as the obese girl.
-
Who eats any more? I mean everything is so dammed toxic! :Humpfh: Any way my bubble designer (my DH) says my bubble will have an air lock. Apparently I will have a portable toilet in the air lock that will be removed and sterilised by my slaves, I mean, my family. The will also serve me organic bubble grown food, and double filtered spring Water through the air lock. Apparently it will also be sound proof. And locked from the outside. :pound:
-
Are you trying to bring me down? I mean, this is starting to become toxic to my self esteem.
-
how do you know if your band has slipped or not.
Chickie replied to shawn1's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Usually, the patient has nasty heart burn and reflux, and cannot keep anything down (including liquids). It is usually Dx under xray. But at this stage of the game, I wouldn't be worried about slippage. -
Cancer and nasal gastric tubes
Chickie replied to Ginaki's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I would imagine, that like anyone who has chemo, they would be given anti-nausea drugs, and the gastric tube can be inserted, but just not blind. -
Congrats on the 18lbs! That is fantastic! If you work your loss out over the 7 weeks, you lost 2.71lbs a week! That is awesome! I am glad it all went well for you! Relax! I am sure your doctor will do what is right for you! I hope it all goes well.

Joke all you like - But once I have the pee issue sorted out, you will all want to live in my bubble with me. And I ain't sharing! Seriously ~ Thank you Peaches!!
