I am (only just) 5'3" and at 106-107lbs I wear a size 0.

This. In my opinion, banding is a wise choice.

I don't know how I missed your post! I always try to welcome the Aussies!! Welcome to LBT Ginaki!! It is totally normal to have mixed emotions about any major surgery. Just try to relax in the next couple of weeks, and prepare as best as you can for the upcoming op. Again, welcome!

Boo Boo Kitty's PS Journey

I hope the consult went well Brandy! -
Has anyone heard of this procedure?
Chickie replied to tmarie's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
A 5% mortality rate for a TT? I was told that it was somewhere between 1 and 2%. The same as any surgery where you have to be put under a general. The procedure looks to me, anyway, like massive lipo under twilight sedation. Lipo will do nothing to address stretched skin. And stretched skin is usually more of an issue than fat for people who are formerly morbidly obese. -
Dehydration creeps up on us so quietly when we are newly banded, and not being able to pee is one of the first symptoms. Make sure you are getting in as much Water as humanly possible.
-
If you are not getting in enough Water, that could cause the needing to go, but can't quite go feeling. A bladder infection will get bad, very quickly when left untreated, you will know soon enough if that's what it really is. I would try to drink a couple of extra glasses of water and see what happens.

I love, love, love beans! I have been veggie now for almost 2 years, and it was the best thing I did for my health (aside from banding, naturally!) Cost is not the issue for me either. It actually works out about the same, and maybe a little more expensive for me to eat the way I do now, than when I ate meat.

A fill can take a couple of weeks to kick in. It isn't unheard of. It is possible that somehow your stomach was irritated, and some swelling has come up as a result of that irritation. I would keep sipping as much as I could, and avoid anything even remotely solid for at least 24 hours, and see if it all settles down. Otherwise, I would head off to the doc for advice and maybe a tiny unfill. I hope you feel better soon!

Congratulations!! Way to go Laura!

Before and After Lap Band Surgery - PICTURES ONLY
Chickie replied to DeLarla's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Before; After; (please forgive the "hurry up and take the damm shot" look on my face in the last "after" pic, it was 2am, and I was ready for bed!) -
It really depends on the extent of the sag, and what you expect. If you want something close to perfect, a LBL, or a TT with thigh lift might be the way to go. But if you are happy enough, but wouldn't complain if they did get lifted a little during the TT, but wouldn't be crushed if the look exactly the same, a TT would work.

Congratulations!!

What is the best compliment you have heard lately?
Chickie replied to Boo Boo Kitty's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Some of the guys that my husband worked with about 5 years ago asked when he divorced his first wife, and how he managed to hook such a cute little thing (they thought I was no more than 20 years old) That was pretty cool. -
Curious - What's it like after goal???

:clap2: CONGRATULATIONS Wasa! :clap2: -
Congratulations Bronnie!!

In my experience, it helped with my thighs, but not a whole lot. I could see a difference, but DH said they looked exactly the same. I would imagine, if you have bothersome inner thigh sag that you want rid of, a lower body lift would be the way to go. As for being afraid? I found it to be a pretty easy surgery, as surgeries go. I was up and out of bed within hours, and on nothing more than headache tablets for pain. It was more uncomfortable than painful.

Curious - What's it like after goal???
Chickie replied to Sue Magoo's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have had to have a total unfill in order to be able to eat enough calories to NOT lose weight. I still lose weight if I don't eat enough, but it's nowhere near what I was losing in the beginning. Although, my surgeon says that I am the first he has seen, or heard of locally that has needed an unfill to stop losing. And typically, people find it harder to lose weight as they get closer to their goal, so trying to stop weight loss is not an issue. Best of luck to you. -
Here is the truth about the band
Chickie replied to alysedg23's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
See, I never did that. And to be truthful, it bothers me when I read it. It's giving the impression that PB'ing is normal, when it isn't. I'm not saying that I have never PB'd, but honestly, I have never had to find the toilet, and sit as close as I could to it when I ate out. I simply enjoyed my food, and the company! -

Chickie replied to Jachut's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
See that part I forgot about. You do look fantastic Jacqui. I am a good 13 years away from where you are now, and if I look even half as good as you do, I will be a happy camper. Again, congratulations. -

You look fantastic Jacqui!! If I didn't know that you had been overweight, you would have trouble convincing me. Bravo! -
Hi Kara! Welcome to LBT!

I would hazard a guess, she meant that she is 175 kg, but aims to be 75kg (trying to lose 100 kg)

Calling all "seasoned" bandsters!!!! pre bandster searching answers from the wise.
Chickie replied to bandster_1007's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have been banded almost 32 months, I am yet to have any complications, major or minor. I would have to say that for me, banding has been a 100% success. And I am still banded. Banding is still fairy new in the US, but in Australia and Europe, bands have been placed since the early 90's. I know of at least 2 bandsters who were banded close to 10 years ago who are still at goal weight, and still have bands.
