True enough. I guess, compared to the 135 -140 ish Kg woman they were used to seeing, I am skinny. BUT I am still within a healthy BMI. That's what counts, right?
-
I would imagine that they are the same people who leave comments on my blog like "It's a shame that the band works for people like you" and who just come out and say that I am ugly, and that I looked better fat. And if only the obsessive lose 100%... What does that make me, at 115% plus lost?
-
I got what you were talking about. But I guess I would, having been on the receiving end of "that weight would look too thin on me / I would look unhealthy at that weight / That weight is anorexic at 5'3"" and so on, I have felt the judgement that you are talking about. My point is, I don't really care where other people set their goals. Any weight loss is going to improve the health of a banded person, and that is the ultimate goal, right?. But please, for the love of the band, don't crap on about how only sick / anorexic / unhealthy my size is. I am not passing judgement on you, so kindly do me the same favour. (That was not directed at anyone here in this thread. It is directed at those who have made comments here, both in PM and on the boards, and off the boards as anonymous comment to my blog about me being anorexic, unhealthy, ugly, nasty and on, and on and on I could go.)

The girls are smaller!!! (yes THOSE girls)
Chickie replied to BRANDYK's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I am much the same, went from a 28 J (I think it was a JJJ) to 6F (A side note to Boo... My boobies don't look so bad now after a good 16 months at goal... The skin seems to be shrinking. I have pics. PM me if you want to see) -
Yup, it bugs the hell out of me. I haven't lost any weight in over a year, and people still tell me not to try to lose any more weight. And being called "skinny" is just getting insulting. I cringe when people say it. I wonder how much comes from a place of genuine concern, and how much is, I hesitate to say it, jealousy?

Its not unrealistic to lose 100% of one's excess weight.

Who did this prior to being banded?
Chickie replied to mejr62's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I all but shouted it from the rooftops. Before I started my 3 weeks on Optifast, yeas. Thankfully, I didn't gain too much weight doing that. I really tried to, but it was only after I had been banded that I really found the motivation I needed. After the liquid stages, I stopped drinking protein, so I am of no help there. Sorry! Best of luck to you! -
It does take time to get over the surgery. I felt "normal" after about a week, but some people do take anywhere up to 2 or 3 weeks to feel human again. Congrats on the band.

FIG.com - Advanced Lipodissolve

I cannot see how lipodissolve is an alternative to a tummy tuck. -
Welcome and Congratulations Susan!

Why Aren't You Losing Weight?
Chickie replied to WASaBubbleButt's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I voted ages ago, but didn't reply (I thought I had... Old age, I guess!) I voted other because I am at goal weight, and have been maintaining for 16 months now. -
What gets my goat is when in a conversation, people pick MY weight or size, and say "for me that would be sickly skinny, I would look anorexic" It sort of implies that that is what you think of me. Being called skinny (depending on the tone) is as hurtful as being called fat.

First of all, thanks for commenting ShineNsta! I am not hurt by it so much as amazed that people can be such assholes. What it comes down to is, I have done it. I am at goal, have maintained for more than a year, and some people are jealous of that. I see it so often in a more passive way here too. People who number wise lost a hell of a lot less, and got down to a number that is still overweight get backslaps, high fives and "oh you look WONDERFUL" and I get ignored. Oh, and my favorite was the other day when, I think it was Wasa got to goal (another HUGE congrats to Wasa by they way!!) A poster said something like "Congratulations on being the first on LBT to get to goal" I laughed my ass off. I am obviously so skinny, I am invisible!! When you add to that the PM's I get accusing me of photoshopping my photos, or of finding the pics somewhere on the net and using them as my own, I realise WHY there are so few posters here who are at goal. We just don't want to put up with that sort of shit.

Newbie from Australia......
Chickie replied to 1981noodle's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
A big hello from Brisbane!! Your doctor is right, your fill will have settled, allowing you to eat more than you could when you were first filled. You will find that your next fill (depending on how much more your doc adds) will make a big difference in your restriction. Your weight loss will be a bit up and down at first. The weight we lose on fluids is a one time deal. We typically never lose weight that fast again. And sometimes, when people go from fluids to solids, there is even a slight weight gain. The trick is to not freak out, and keep eating right and exercising. Congrats! Sam. -
The tiredness when dieting often has more to do with the type of calorie than the lack of calories. Low GI foods keep the blood sugars steady, where as higher GI foods (white starches, some fruits, sweets, sugars ect) send the blood sugar up, making you feel less tired for a while, and when the blood sugar comes back down (and it usually does so fairly quickly), you feel like crap again.
-
I must have missed the part about PBing a lot. That is in no way good for your band health. I would be more worried about losing my band to a slip because I was PBing than gaining weight after an unfill.
-
I ended up having a total unfill to maintain my weight. As for still seeing yourself as overweight, that takes time to come to terms with. Its different for everyone, but it took me a solid year before I totally accepted that the image I saw was really me, and not an illusion.
-
What a HUGE accomplishment! I hope you are super proud of yourself, because I know I am! Congratulations.

No one has to have skin removed after weight loss. But some people might like to do so. I had my tummy tuck almost 15 months ago, and second only to banding, it was one of the best things I have done for myself. My thighs and breasts have tightened up considerably, but my stomach was a train wreck that no amount of time was going to fix.

Ahh! How geen was my fan club?
Chickie commented on Chickie's blog entry in The comment hall of lame
I am forever getting comments from people. Some good, some bad, some dammed nasty. Here are a few of my favourites thus far. From today (and I suspect someone from here at LBT) (Click the link to my Blog to see my reply to that one, titled "Dear Teena") And from a few weeks ago, again, here at LBT from someone called Roboop; So, as you can see, I am loved and adored by all! Sweet huh? -

What is helping you succeed right now?
Chickie replied to maryrose's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Exercise, and eating a good (as often as I can) organic and unprocessed diet. Like Wasa said. It's a lifestyle change. -
My original user name here was Aussie Chick. But I changed it to Chickie, because I am lazy, and Aussie Chick was just too long. Why Aussie Chick to start with? Because I am an Aussie Chick! LOL. My real name is Sam.
